From High School Writing to College Research Papers

by Dark Sith

After graduating from high school, you may find writing a college research paper a bit difficult. A research paper is an academic piece of writing, so it requires more knowledge and logical thinking than the other papers you have done in elementary and high school. There are many things to consider in writing a college research paper.

Keep in mind that academic writing is a scholarly activity. A college is composed of scholars who study and explore complex scholarly ideas. As a college student, you must think about topics and issues that concern the intellectual community. You also need to learn how to debate and to write your ideas in an academic manner. To succeed in college, you must master academic writing, which is the presentation and discussion of ideas in a formal, written document.

Remember that a college research paper is strictly academic. Don’t write about your hobbies or how you spent your summer vacation. Because a research paper is academic in nature, the topics you choose should be of interest to the academic community. Listen to your professor during class lectures because what he/she says will help you a lot in writing your research paper. Professors typically give ideas about academic topics during lectures. If your paper interests other scholars, then it is academic. But if it only interests, say, your friends in your neighborhood, then your paper cannot be considered an academic paper.

A college research paper is characterized by informed arguments. College students learn to research, organize his or her materials and then write them in a certain format. His or her paper should support a stand or explain an issue. The use of formal language is a strict requirement. A college research paper is characterized by pieces of credible information and informed arguments.

After You Choose Your Business, Stop Looking Around

by Jack Beddall

If this scenario does not seem familiar to you, you either studied a lot of businesses for a long time, or you haven’t been trying to build your home based business search very long.

You get on your computer and go surfing for the latest and greatest business opportunity– the sure thing that will make you rich. Filling in form after form, you give out your email, name, and phone number too many times to remember, and soon, your phone is ringing and your mailbox is packed. You see even more home businesses than you knew existed. A few of them look pretty good on the surface, so you fill out more forms. Then, you check your mailbox, and are sure you are getting email from everyone in the universe. Either out of desperation or fear of missing out again, you pick one, give them your hard earned money, put your name on the wonderfully unique replicated company website, and wait impatiently for the money to pour in. And wait. And wait some more. Finally, out of the frustration and boredom from zero website visits, you start looking all over again. Sound familiar?

Continually surfing the net for your next business opportunity before you have gotten the one you are on up and going, is a sure sign you are not in the right business. If you aren’t happy with the company, the products, the pay plan, or the training, it’s time to move on. This time, be sure you are making the right choice. Don’t make your decision about which business to join without doing all of your homework first. If you don’t have a concrete set of guidelines that your business has to meet, you will be tossed to and fro by the hype more than by how the opportunity fits you and your situation.

For help in determining your personal guidelines, read my four articles entitled “Evaluating an Online Business– Things You Should Know…” (You can find the video version on several video sites like YouTube.) It will provide you with some guidelines for coming up with your own checklist of what you want in a business, and how to stick with what you come up with. If you manage to start with the best business for you, the time you now spend surfing the net for another business will be more productively spent building the business you have. Give it your full attention once you start. Make yourself stick with it. If you don’t actually work at it, you won’t be successful, and you won’t work it unless you have chosen well.

Take the time to decide what you want a business to provide you with. You will find yourself far less likely to be swayed by what a business does, and way more likely to choose a business that fits you.

Training options for coffee shop owners

by Karyn Lewis

Before a coffee shop owner can do a good job with the business they need to invest their time and money in proper training. Failure to do so can cost them in the long run, it can even lead to the business shutting its doors permanently. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can make coffee so you are ready to go. There are many different types of machines you have to know how to operate.

Some owners have the privilege of working for a particular coffee shop as the manager for a period of time. They have developed a very good relationship with the owner of it. As a result they are the first offered the business when it comes time to sale it. The current owners are often willing to take this person under their wing and train them on the aspects they haven’t been responsible for.

This is the perfect way to get the information on the ins and outs of that type of coffee shop. The downside to it though is that all of their methods and concepts may not be as effective as they could be. It is your right though as the new owner to make modifications to them as you see fit. You may end up making more money than the previous owner ever did.

Should you decide to invest in a franchise coffee shop, they will train you the way they want things to be operated. You can be sure they know what they are talking about too. These large franchise coffee shops got to be in such high demand due to their ability to continue meet the needs of the consumers.

Owners are mandated to complete a quality training program as part of the franchise agreement. This is to help them uphold the quality and the standards that have made them so successful so far. One of the reasons why consumers love franchise operations as they know exactly what they are going to get. It doesn’t matter which one of them they happen to go in to.

If you plan to open an independent coffee shop, there are plenty of training schools out there you can choose from. The internet is full of information about this. You can find out where they are located, how long the program is, the cost, and the curriculum. It will also depend on when the coffee shop training classes are taking place.

Some of them are very detailed programs that take place over a five day period. Others try to cram everything into two or three days. You should ask about the qualifications of the trainers. You should also find out how large the classes are going to be. Generally, the fewer people in the class the more one on one attention you will get.

Coffee shop training is beneficial for owners so don’t think you are above needing it. Regardless of the type of coffee shop you are interested in, you likely don’t know everything there is to know. Don’t let this be the reason why you aren’t able to have a successful coffee shop. With the huge market for such products, you have a very good chance of making it work. Get the information you need from the start to avoid costly mistakes.

People Helping People

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Microfinance. It’s a big, fancy word for tiny loans. These tiny loans have become big business in recent years, though. Matt Flannery had never heard of microloans a few short years ago, but his wife Jessica would change that. Together, they’re making the world a better place through a company called Kiva.

Microfinance is a concept that was started by Muhammad Yunus, an economics professor in Bangladesh. Living in such a poor country, he saw the need to loan people as little as $50 to help them get on their feet with a small business. Banks don’t make such loans, and these people have no collateral.

Muhammad Yunus founded the Grameen Bank to help fund these microloans, and for his efforts, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. In 2004, Jessica Flannery saw an announcement from Stanford University that Yunus would be in town to speak one Wednesday night, so she convinced her (then) fianc Matt to attend with her. The decision would change their lives forever.

Back then, Matt was still making software for TiVo. He’d never heard of microfinance, but he attended the event for Jessica’s sake. What the two of them learned started the gears turning in their minds. They knew there was something they could do to help others around the world. They brainstormed for a year before Kiva’s launch.

During their newlywed year, Jessica spent several months in Africa. Matt decided to join her, and the experience shocked him. In America, $5 million loans are the norm for a business. In Africa, usually $500 or less is all that is needed to start a seamstress business or open a bicycle repair shop.

The drive to own a business and better your family’s life is just as strong whether you’re in a rich country or a poor one. Matt was an aspiring entrepreneur himself, so he immediately saw how much he had in common with the people he interviewed.

One night back in America, Matt and Jessica were tired of brainstorming, so they jumped at the opportunity to build a website. They had heard so much negativity from people, but they knew Kiva would be something in which they could take pride.

Today, www.Kiva.org is more successful than anyone dreamed it would be. In two years, loans totaling more than $25 million have been given to over 250,000. The money comes from individuals who can loan as little as $25. They choose who gets the loan based on detailed profiles and updated reports. When the money is repaid, lenders are free to keep their money or re-loan it to someone else. Little people can now have a hand in changing the world.

Is It Necessary to Train My Dog?

by Marian

When a dog gets the training he needs. He is more obedient and safer.

I have a neighbor who owns a dog. The dog has not been trained. She had her dog on a lead and thought that there would be no problem. Another dog came down the street and her dog felt threatened. Her dog attack the other dog. Three thousand dollars in vet bills. This is what she took from her experience.

Dealing with situations where the owner loses control of their dog is lessened. When a dog gets the training he needs. A voice command or a gesture can get a situation under control

Training your dog to heel can be done by shortening the leash. Gently pulling the dog back into the required position. Giving the voice command or hand gesture.

When starting to train your dog to walk with you. Choose a place that is away from busy streets or walk ways.

You will see that the dog will start to follow your commands. It is necessary to reinforce that behavior with praise.

To train your dog to follow directions. It maybe be necessary to use other methods other than praise. Some dogs work well with praise and some work better with treats. You decide which is best.

Ever wondered how a driveway alarm could protect your house?

by Jonathan Spear

If you are one of those individuals who might have come into close calls with break-ins on your property, you will know what a terrible feeling it is to feel unsafe in your own home. Theft and robbery are things that you cannot control, but more important than that, is that assurance that your loved ones do not experience any serious harm.

As a result, today, there is a steadily growing number of individuals who are beginning to be more and more concerned about the security of their property or house. This is where driveway alarms come in to help you feel more secure about the proximity and security of both your house, as well as your loved ones.

Driveway alarms work by monitoring and detecting the surround areas of your house, and picking up any suspicious motion or activity that might be occurring. Once the alarm is armed and someone breaks into the house unknowingly, the alarm is tripped and you will immediately be alerted.

With recent developments in the driveway alarm industry, there is currently a grow range of driveway alarms available to consumers. Some of the most popular types of alarms are wireless driveway alarms. These alarms have one of the widest detection ranges, which is probably why it is so popular today.

Wireless driveway alarms can cover large distances (up to a 2 mile radius around your house) because without the need for cables, you can set up cameras and motion detectors remotely, without having to manually link them up to the main system. As a result, you get a much wider coverage than you would with normal driveway alarm systems.

You can also use your driveway alarm during parties or when you have guests over, as it is a great way to monitor if there is anyone that has arrived at your house. This means that you do not always have to keep your eye on the door, but rather, simply wait for the alarm to notify you of any arriving guests.

As driveway alarms consist of very precise parts and machinery, you should never attempt to try to install the driveway alarm system yourself. This can often lead to damaged equipment, which might even lead to you losing the money you have invested in the system.

Another thing you need to pay attention to is the overall shape of your house, as it will play a big role in helping you determine the exact model or system of driveway alarms to buy. Some alarms are based more on motion detectors, whereas other alarm systems utilize more door sensors, so depending on the type of security you need, only then will you be able to decide on the system to install.

These are just some of the things you might want to consider, when trying to look for a driveway alarm that will suit your needs. Should you have any doubts, you can always speak to a salesperson or an expert, who will be able to give you advise on how best to utilise the driveway alarm that you intend to install.

Persuade to Get Ahead

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Dave Lakhani is a speaker, author and trainer in the sales and marketing arena. He has been featured in magazines that include “Selling Power”, “Sales and Marketing Management”, “Entrepreneur“, “Business Solutions”, “Retail Systems Reseller”, “Integrated Solutions”, “Home Office Computing”, and “PC Magazine”.

Dave Lakhani’s number one bestselling book is called “Persuasion – The Art of Getting What You Want”. He has been a featured guest on television and radio programs including “The Today Show” and “Business Radio Network”. Not only has Dave studied other leaders in the sales industry like Jay Abraham and Zig Ziglar, but he is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Dave’s training techniques have been used by IBM, the U.S. Army, Rogers Media, Micron, GE and Wizard Academy. What’s interesting, though, is that he didn’t start in marketing. In fact, he was raised in the Branhamites cult, being trained as a preacher, but left to pursue many other jobs.

Dave didn’t actually discover his passion until long after he’d left the cult and started helping people and companies become more persuasive. In the mean time, he had several careers including a cowboy, a professional fighter, and even an undercover law enforcement officer working to bring down drug rings.

After discovering his passion, Dave also discovered something that many people have discovered: work isn’t work, and money grows on trees. When he left the cult, Dave spent his days at the Andrew Carnegie Library trying to understand what made people like his mother choose to raise their children in a cult. What he learned, however, was the art of persuasion and how it can be applied to business.

Dave Lakhani’s persuasion definition is “helping people come to their own most logical conclusion, which also happens to be one you share”. Persuasion is similar to, but also very different from manipulation. Persuasion is a way to help people make a decision based on the information you give them. Manipulation has an underlying intent to confuse or deceive people.

When you find a passion in which you truly believe, you no longer need to rely on manipulation. Your passion becomes infectious. People will see your passion, your goals, and your enthusiasm, and they’ll in turn trust that you have their best interest at heart. It builds rapport, and others may even follow in your footsteps.

Whether you’re looking for a soul mate or trying to sell a car, persuasion is something that each of us use to some extent each day. It’s an important skill to hone if you want to see phenomenal success in your life. Learn how to persuade people honestly, and get what you want!

Work at Home for Money

by Les Freeman

More and more people are making the move from working outside the hone to working at home. Since the work at home job market has grown considerably, many types of businesses are offering to help start people out in business. Many of these companies are hard working people like us, who just want to make a living. If you put “free work at home job” in your Internet search, you will have lots of potential jobs to search in no time. Forums on free work at home jobs are extremely helpful in finding jobs. They are also helpful in identifying scams and potentially illegitimate offers that might get you into real trouble. Some of the potential ways you can make money with no investment or minimal investment are EBay sales, typing, writing, transcription, online clerical services, and data entry services. Some companies want you to answer the phone for them and take orders. Depending on your computer knowledge, you could even build websites for people. Spend some time looking on a few of the free work at home job websites and forums for more ideas that might interest you. Unfortunately, there are a few people out there who want to take advantage of potential business owners.

When looking for a new business opportunity, look for businesses that are free and legitimate. Some businesses that advertise that they are free and legitimate are just that. But for the most part, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably has some kind of catch to it that will be a problem for you and your business later. If you want to make money for yourself and for family, research your options very well.

There are many ways to protect yourself from scam artists who want to take advantage of you if they can. Knowledge is your best defence. Research the person or company offering you a seemingly irresistible offer. Asking questions is an excellent way to protect you from would-be scammers. Ask the company specific questions about the opportunity they offer. If the answers are vague, consider yourself warned. If you are not sure about the company even after you ask questions, check with an online work at home forum. There are some great online work at home forums, from which information about potential online business scams is shared. If other people have had problems with a work at home offer, you probably want to avoid that company.

There are some actual free offers for legitimate work at home. Do your homework, and you will soon be able to tell the real, helpful sites from the fake sites that are potentially dangerous. One website may say that you can fill out surveys and make money. This is true in some cases. One type of job like this will allow you to work for free if you fill out surveys, but you will only be paid a few dollars per survey. Also, surveyors are screened for age and gender, so not everyone will be able to fill out every survey. This is a fun way to make a few dollars. However, if you want to make some serious part time money, filling out surveys will probably not help you out very much. Beware! Some survey sites actually want you to sign up for services or to buy something from a company. A few of these sites want you to sign up for the free trial for their product. You will not get paid for signing up for this product until you have paid the company for their product. In this case, do not pay anyone to take his or her surveys. If you do, you have been scammed. Also, some companies state that you can win a big prize if you fill out their survey. Usually you have to sign up to receive several other items, subscriptions and so on before you are even entered into a drawing for the grand prize. It will only take about 2 clicks of the computer screen to figure out that this site is a scam. Plus, you will get more spam on your email than you ever dreamed of in your worst nightmares.

Some online, home-based offers are not particularly profitable. Others are deceptive. And others are down right illegal. Direct Mail Services are some of the oldest work at home scams around. The Direct Mail Service offers the dubious opportunity for their unsuspecting customers to make money either addressing or stuffing envelopes. Beware of any version of this offer. It is almost always a fraud and a scam. The company will probably pay you a specific amount for stuffing or addressing the envelopes. They will also charge you for their list of customers. What they do not tell you is that you have to buy your own materials for the project. Computer labels, envelopes, and other supplies are not supplied by the company. You are responsible for purchasing them. By the time you are done stuffing the envelopes, the pay you receive is less that the amount of money you put out for supplies.

There are many variations on the Direct Mail Services scheme. Study any offer for work carefully. If you have to pay to work, the project is probably a scam. Also, Direct Mail Marketers want you to provide a list of potential new customers for them. Do not provide them with a list of new potential victims. If true information about Direct Marketing Scams is spread, they will go out of business soon enough. There may be honest Direct Marketing Services out there, but no matter how desperate you are feeling, avoid Direct Marketing offers. It’s just not worth the risk.

One of the other variations on Direct Marketing scams is an offer to send you either the materials or instructions for assembling products at home. These companies advertise that they will buy the products you make. If you take the company up on their offer, you will probably receive the materials and training that you ordered. However, these companies have supposedly high standards. Be warned that few people, if any, ever reach the standards of these companies. What the company considers to be substandard products are rejected, and you are out the money you paid.

Another scam available to unsuspecting work at home business owner is advertised as an easy part time job. You are requested to let a person from some far away country send you money to be placed in your bank account for safe keeping. These potential scammers claim that all they need is a safe place to store their money in your country. Of course, what they really want is your bank account number and any other personal information they can get from you. With this information, they can take your hard-earned money and illegally use your credit information. You will discover that almost anyone who wants your bank account number or other personal information merely wants to take your money and abuse your credit.

Please carefully research any company who offers something that is too good to be true. Offers for free services usually have some sort of moneymaking concept in mind down the line somewhere. Most free offers exist to entice you to a website to buy something. Other sites or offers, unfortunately, are illegitimate scams from unscrupulous companies trying to steal your money.

Does This Shock You? — There Is No “Shocking Truth

by TheLastBestBiz Team

“The Shocking Truth!” How many times have you seen that in your Google search for the perfect home business? Have you read any? I have read a few hundred, and I can unequivocally state that there really are no “shocking truths.”

Generally, it works like this. You are minding your own business, Googling away for things like, “best online business,” “make money online,” or “home based business.” You see opportunity after opportunity, promising the most for the least. One catches your eye. Let’s call it “The Best Business Ever!” You do some further searches, and The Best Business Ever is starting to look great also. Then, it hits you. Right there, in the number one ppc slot on the right, you see the headline “The Shocking Truth About The Best Business Ever.” To make sure you don’t jump into anything prematurely, you decide you had better find out what this shocking truth is. You click on the link, and here is what you find:

“The Best Business Ever” may work for some people, but it won’t work for you. You need to look at “Better Than The Best Business Ever!” On and on it goes about Better Than The Best Business Ever. Nothing more is said about The Best Business Ever. It turns out the shocking truth is that it may work for some people, but it won’t for you. Wow, you think. You then start checking out Better Than The Best Business Ever, and (SHOCK!) there in the paid ads you see it again, except this time it says, “The Shocking Truth About Better Than The Best Business Ever!”

Another tactic you will see frequently is the “Why I Didn’t Join” approach. “Why I Didn’t Join” ads are nearly as numerous as the Shocking Truth ads. They tell you that I didn’t join THEM because I joined (fill in the blank), and if you aren’t a complete idoit, you will allso. And by the way, I made over $200,000 in the first three days without doing anything. The purpose of both these approaches is to divert your attention away from the company or opportunity you are evaluating and point it at theirs.

So, how do you get around all this? First, get your information about a company from somebody associated with that company. It obviously works for some people, or you wouldn’t have found it in the first place, so your question more accurately is can it work for you? As important as determining what you DO want is determining what you DON’T want. Develop your own list of characteristics the business must have, and stick to it. For instance, if you don’t want to have hotel or home meetings, and that’s the way this business is built, move on. If you want to be able to tell exactly what the business does on the front page of its website and it doesn’t tell you, move on. I had thirteen characteristics on my list. It took me years to find a company that finally passed all thirteen tests.

And the shocking truth about it? It works as advertised. Find out what I found out at TheLastBestBiz

Antalya Real Estate Options For Prospective Home Owners

by Chris Channing

Investment opportunities are everywhere if one looks hard enough- the question becomes how to scout out such opportunities before they become unprofitable due to market saturation. Antalya, a province in Turkey, is one such budding location that is starting to give consumers and entrepreneurs a new kind of return on investment.

As it would seem, any type of waterfront property is going to be a bit more expensive than inner areas. Waterfront properties on the coastal districts of Antalya hold special weight to this fact, as they are adjacent to some of the most beautiful coast lands in Turkey. Real estate may be a little higher priced, but in due time investments made now are going to get quite a payoff in the future.

Entrepreneurs are making use of Antalya’s natural beauty to make a moderate profit from investments. Like the previously mentioned coasts, attractions will bring tourists. And with more tourists comes opportunity for making money- meaning commercial property in the area is going to be highly valued. Grabbing up a majority of the land now will mean a high payoff when businesses wish to move to the area later on down the road.

Growing a family in an educational environment is important for ensuring that offspring will grow up healthy and wise. Antalya makes for a great residential area simply because so many historic buildings and ruins exist for children to explore and learn about. Stimulating educational value at such a young age is important for success later in life- yet another reason Antalya real estate is to be highly valued.

The actual capital of the Antalya Province is Antalya city, one of the fastest growing cities in the immediate surrounding area. If a “hot spot” location in real estate is desired, this is the place to get in on the action. Antalya city real estate is highly valued because of the rapid growth Antalya is experiencing. This has brought many businesses, services, and entrepreneurs to the area to grab up the real estate while it’s still available.

From here, consumers interested in Antalya real estate have much to debate with realty agents. If the consumer isn’t from the area, scouting out the area and enjoying an extended vacation in the area is necessary to get a “feel” for the location in question. After all, one should make sure they like their environment before purchasing real estate in it!

Final Thoughts

Consumers will find that it’s hard to find better property than what is found in Antalya. The location has beautiful scenery, a huge tourism market, and great resources for education and learning. Act quick, however, as word is quickly getting out that the Antalya lands are the next “big thing” in real estate investments.
