Dave Lakhani is a speaker, author and trainer in the sales and marketing arena. He has been featured in magazines that include “Selling Power”, “Sales and Marketing Management”, “Entrepreneur“, “Business Solutions”, “Retail Systems Reseller”, “Integrated Solutions”, “Home Office Computing”, and “PC Magazine”.

Dave Lakhani’s number one bestselling book is called “Persuasion – The Art of Getting What You Want”. He has been a featured guest on television and radio programs including “The Today Show” and “Business Radio Network”. Not only has Dave studied other leaders in the sales industry like Jay Abraham and Zig Ziglar, but he is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Dave’s training techniques have been used by IBM, the U.S. Army, Rogers Media, Micron, GE and Wizard Academy. What’s interesting, though, is that he didn’t start in marketing. In fact, he was raised in the Branhamites cult, being trained as a preacher, but left to pursue many other jobs.

Dave didn’t actually discover his passion until long after he’d left the cult and started helping people and companies become more persuasive. In the mean time, he had several careers including a cowboy, a professional fighter, and even an undercover law enforcement officer working to bring down drug rings.

After discovering his passion, Dave also discovered something that many people have discovered: work isn’t work, and money grows on trees. When he left the cult, Dave spent his days at the Andrew Carnegie Library trying to understand what made people like his mother choose to raise their children in a cult. What he learned, however, was the art of persuasion and how it can be applied to business.

Dave Lakhani’s persuasion definition is “helping people come to their own most logical conclusion, which also happens to be one you share”. Persuasion is similar to, but also very different from manipulation. Persuasion is a way to help people make a decision based on the information you give them. Manipulation has an underlying intent to confuse or deceive people.

When you find a passion in which you truly believe, you no longer need to rely on manipulation. Your passion becomes infectious. People will see your passion, your goals, and your enthusiasm, and they’ll in turn trust that you have their best interest at heart. It builds rapport, and others may even follow in your footsteps.

Whether you’re looking for a soul mate or trying to sell a car, persuasion is something that each of us use to some extent each day. It’s an important skill to hone if you want to see phenomenal success in your life. Learn how to persuade people honestly, and get what you want!
