People need to earn money quick for various reasons. Some need to pay current bills, some past due bills, some rent, some mortgage payments, and so on. The unstable economy makes it so that more people have to find ways to earn money quick to avoid financial ruin.
Most people who have lost their jobs try very hard to find new jobs to earn money quick before they get evicted. But, since the job market is not great, it is hard to find a new job in a short amount of time.

Working a minimum wage job does not mean you will not earn money quick. If you start your burger flipping job today, you will start earning today whereas if you spent weeks or months applying for more decent jobs, you are foregoing weeks and months of income earning opportunities.
To earn money quick is to start now and do whatever you can do today. When you are down in your luck, take any job you can to earn money quickly. Then when you have some money saved up, you can find better jobs to earn money quick elsewhere.
