Fast and Easy List-Building
Today’s subject deals with list-building. I get many questions from people who want to know how to build a list quickly to improve their business.
It’s easy to build a list – easier than you might think.
The fact is the techniques of list-building are really quite simple.
Here are three tactics you can use to build your list fast:
Make a “squeeze page”. While everyone knows that squeeze pages work, not many people use them. It does take some brass to tell readers, “You can’t see it until I see your e-mail address!” If you use a squeeze page, I promise you will get more subscribers and a great list. Check out my squeeze page at www.rayedwardscopy.com. Even though I don’t offer so much as an ethical bribe, people still want to opt in. My conversion rate for this page is a healthy 38%.
“Ad swap” with other list owners. If you have an e-zine, find other e-zine advertisers and offer to run each other’s ads. If you (or they!) don’t run ads, contact them. Ask if they would be willing to promote your newsletter while you promote theirs. Simply write a couple of lines advising your readers to check out the new newsletter you just found. Don’t forget the link! This is one of the simplest, most effective ways to build your list.
Get opt-ins from forum postings. Do you have an ethical bribe for your customers – a special report or article, a .pdf, piece of software, or audio clip? Most forums will let you add (as an example) “To get my ‘Seven Tips on Building Your List’, click here.” The link takes them directly to your opt-in page. Don’t put blatant ads on forums, as it is frowned upon. However, if you could spend twenty minutes a day visiting ten forums, answering questions along the way, and providing good content, you can build your list like crazy. Does this really work? Of course! Every day, I get new subscribers from this tactic – so many that I hardly have time to post anymore!
