In order to start, you will need the following:

1) Mining Skill – Your local mining trainer can train you for this particular skill.

Brom Killian: A Horde Trainer who may be found in Undercity, South of the bridge leading to the War Quarter.

Geofram Bouldertoe: Deepmountain Mining Guild in Ironforge. (Alliance Trainer)

Makaru: A Horde Trainer who may be found in Orgrimmar, center of the valley of honor.

Brek Stonehoof: A Horde Trainer who may be found in Thunder Bluff, Western edge of the center plateau.

Yarr Hammerstone: An Alliance Trainer who may be found in Dun Morogh, eastern edge of Kharanos.

Dank Drizzlecut: An Alliance Trainer who may be found in Dun Morogh, north of Gol’bolbar Quarry.

2) A mining pick. It should be noted that you can also use enchanted picks as the only difference between it and a normal weapon is its glow once equipped. It may seem pointless, but some people think this is a cool feature.

3) Gloves (optional but recommended). Get the cheapest gloves you can find and enchant them with 5 mining skill. This won’t cost you more than 2 gold.

The 5 mining will not affect your chances of getting a crystal, but it will decrease your odds of a failed attempt.

Engineers Note: If you create for yourself a Goblin Mining helmet, this adds 5 to your existing mining skill.

It is recommended that you mine approximately 50 copper then smelt. Note that copper is abundant. You can invent your own mining route or you can make use of any of these:

Horde

– Tauren: Mulgore: Simply select any starting point and follow the cliffs that you would see along the way. And remember to check out the Venture Company mine. You should obtain about 40-50 copper on this course.

– Orc and Troll: Completing whole circuits of Durotar would be the simple method. However, with so much copper lying around, you may find it more exciting to begin the quest at Razor Hill and move toward the west to the Quilboar grounds. Once you reach the river, travel towards the north until you reach Orgrimmar. From there, travel towards the east until you come across a small farmstead. Once you do, move south and plunge into the canyon. Follow the canyon out, you’ll reach Razor Hill again if you just travel towards the south east. About 25-30 copper ores is about how much you’ll have by the end of this.

– Undead: From the entrance of DeathKnell, go south and stick to the cliffs past the Undercity and up the bulwark. Now, head north to Scarlet monastery, sticking to the cliffs as you go. Move westward once you reach the coast, then move southward and follow the cliffs to Agamand Mills. Now, follow those hills to the south to go back to the DeathKnell entrance. After that follow those hills south again back to the entrace of DeathKnell. You will have about 30-40 copper ores by the end of this run.

Alliance

– Night Elves: There are no ores in Darnassus so you must go to Darkshore. Start at Auberdine and go east until you reach the cliffs at the top of the map. Move southward while staying keeping to the cliffs. When you reach the entrance of Ashenvale, go west to the coast then north back to Auberdine. From here, go east like before, but this time, when you reach the cliffs, move northward while following the cliffs around the coast heading south again to Auberdine. This figure 8 pattern make it easier for you rather than taking Auberdine in one whole route. You will have about 40-50 copper ores by the end of this run.

Dwarves and Gnomes: Copper is abundant in almost all places, which is why you don’t really need a route to follow here.

– Human: From Goldshire, head east to the north of Crystal Lake. Upon arrival at the north of the logging camp, go south. Follow the river to the Duskwood and Elwyn forest border, then move northwest back to Goldshire. Visit at least 2 mines on this run will get you about 30-40 copper ores.

If someone were to ask you how many Ps there are in speechmaking, you’d be forgiven for thinking that there is only one. Strictly speaking, of course, you’d be right. But if you intend to make a speech, you had better remember that there are, in fact, three Ps in speechmaking – Pace, Poise and Polish.

And if you can manage to put all three into your speechmaking, then you’ll be certain of impressing just about any audience that is sitting in front of you.

Pace. This is a ‘make or break’ P, so don’t underestimate it’s importance. If you get this wrong, your audience will either be bored to tears and will be struggling to hide their yawns from you OR they will miss every third word you say as you race to finish your delivery.

Have you ever had the misfortune of listening to a speech made by a slow speaker? If you have, you’ll already appreciate just how tedious a slow delivery can be. Even the most interesting topic will be made boring by a slow drawl and your audience will be itching to scream “Speed it up Buddy – I want to be home by Midnight!”

Delivering your speech too slowly is guaranteed to make even the most generous audience fidgity and irritated.

On the other hand, if your pace is too fast, many people in your audience will simply lose the thread of what you are saying and listening to you will become too much like hard work. Your responsibility is to make the audiences’ task of listening to your speech easy, not difficult and you should be striving to give your audience the luxury of simply relaxing and letting your words seep effortlessly into their minds.

Speak slowly enough for your audience to absorb what you are saying yet fast enough to prevent your delivery from becoming tedious. Learn to vary your pace throughout your presentation so that your delivery remains interesting to those listening to it.

Poise. Most speakers believe that the subject matter of their presentation is all that is important and spend most of their time worrying about the actual construction of their speech. They are happy to spend hours collecting snippets of information, organising it into an acceptible order, selecting an appropriate opening and closing style and making sure that the rhythm and flow of their words is just right.

And of course, all that effort is certainly required to produce an excellent speech. But that’s not the end of it. How you present yourself is just as important as how you present your words.

Run through this checklist immediately before you step out in front of your audience:

1. Is your clothing clean, smart, appropriate and arranged correctly? 2. Is your hair neatly combed? 3. Does your body language convey the right impression?

Always bear in mind that your audience will start forming their opinion of you from the first moment that they see you and long before you have a chance to woo them with your words. Your poise – that is, the visual impression given to the audience – will influence their first impression of you and that is something that you must pay great attention to .

Make sure that your impression is a positive one.

Polish. This is what will make a good speech great! It is also the element that will be of the most help in ridding yourself of any pre-speech nervousness. Proper preparation is the key to most things in life and when speaking in public thorough preparation is nothing less than vital.

Make time to rehearse your speech in front of a mirror, or better still, in front of your family or friends. Make sure that you become very familiar with the content of your speech.
