A Fascinating Piece About Ron Pollack

I was reading articles about what has been done to help our September 11th Rescue Workers. While searching the web I stumbled upon a profile of this highly self accomplished guy, Ron Pollack. After checking out some articles on his other profiles, like MySpace, VOX and tumblr I felt compelled to write about the extraordinary accomplishments in his life.

At an early age he excelled in computers and math growing up in Detroit, MI. After High School Ron graduated from Yale and decided to join his families history in Real Estate. Longing to become an Architect he continued his education at Harvard. While attending this great University he decided to major in Business and Law and direct his attention towards Finances. After graduation he decided to join the unpredictable world of Wall Street as an Investment Banker. He soon became a Hedge Fund Manager. Specializing in Short-Sales or “Hedge Funds” he invested in public and private companies alike. He picked up a few investment tips from his Grandpa Max who, prior to the internet boom, always said, “Invest in Boeing!”. This influenced his favor towards investments in technology throughout his career. Just like any investor he had his ups and downs with allot of “technology hype” that ended up not working out. Other investments that he worked on to Short Sell worked out very well for him. Like others before him, after a great career, he went back to his roots in Real Estate.

Now he appears to be experimenting with a combination of the two. Right now, he is investing and overseeing the development of some newer upscale condominiums in Clearwater, Fla. For a man who is highly educated and experienced, he is also quite humble and humane. One perfect example from his many experiences with charitable organizations is his compassionate work for New York rescue workers after 9/11. This event touched all of our lives in some way and made us feel a bit uncertain about our country’s safety. But people like Ron were able to help us recognize that we can work together to overcome all obstacles. These stories involving the rescue workers were touching, for many of them suffered from the “9/11 cough”. As most people who suffering from a long illness know, the cough prevented the workers from returning to their regular jobs, breathing normally and even being able to sleep for an entire night. It’s hard to imagine being plagued by this condition after having to deal with the horrible experience of searching for victims of the 9/11 catastrophe. The illness also caused a great deal of uncertainty and the fear of long-term side affects created from working in the debris every day. Ron Pollack’s foundation helped bring cures and aid to these heroes who needed help desperately.

Ron Pollack is still active in this and several other charities and foundations. This man is an extremely well rounded human being with a passion for work and the well being of others. He is very dedicated to his family and those around him. With his knowledge and expertise he has been able to take his company and others to new heights to help them flourish world wide.

High Technology is the Key To Comcasts Success

Every once in a while you run into a business success story that is truly impressive. That’s exactly the kind of narrative that describes the history of Comcast. In short, Comcast took cable TV technology, which pretty much became outdated overnight with the introduction of satellite TV, and managed to turn it around to be one of the best TV services on the planet.

There are a number of things that Comcast did in order to accomplish this, but they really center on having an appreciation for what TV viewers want and embracing the best possible technology in order to give it to them. The appreciation of what TV viewers want can pretty much be summarized not so much as lots of channels, but more accurately as lots of options.

Once Comcast acknowledged that TV viewers really wanted more options, it was just a matter of finding and implementing the technologies that could supply them with those options. The first step was to convert all of its programming on all of its channels to a one hundred percent digital signal. Digital TV has a number of advantages over the older analog signal that had been used to transmit TV programming for decades. Basically, with digital TV, all of the images and sounds that make up a TV program are converted into a digital format, compressed, and then streamed over the cable to digital receivers in individual homes that then decompress all of that data and then convert it back into the pictures and sounds that comprise the TV programming. This process produces a number of advantages. The most obvious advantage is that the digital video signal is so easy to cleanse of any interference that it can produce the highest quality picture possible. Of course pictures can be corrupted, but when digital TV is delivered over a cable there’s never enough interference present to compromise the signal past the point where the receiver can clean it up. Therefore any fuzziness of picture or sound that you get over a digital cable TV transmission must have been part of the original recording.

Since digital TV is pretty much a computer technology, it also paves the way for lots of other possibilities- all of which increase the number of viewing options for Comcast customers. For example, digital TV technology allows Comcast to provide an on screen program guide so that viewers can decide what to watch without the frustration and inconvenience of channel surfing. An on screen program guide also ties directly into digital video recording technology. With a digital video recorder built into some digital receivers, you’ll be able to record TV shows and then watch them later- in other words, you’ll never have to miss a TV program just because you have commitments that keep you from watching it when it comes on. Comcast’s DVR’s are easy to program with the help of the on screen program guide, which makes the process much more intuitive than programming a VCR, and for that reason alone a DVR is much easier to use.

Of course digital TV also forms the foundation needed to execute technologies like HDTV and video on demand. Of course, Comcast has also focused on increasing viewers’ options by increasing the number of channels that it offers. All of this has contributed to Comcast’s ability to take a flailing industry and turn it into a first rate service.

As I’ve been speaking around the country for the past 2 years in chiropractic seminars and events, I continue to hear the same complaints by recent chiropractic school grads and professionals. They’ve been scammed by useless management consultants. I think we need to wake up and realize that when these groups make huge promises, our instincts rightly tell us that they can’t keep them. If a chiropractor is pushed into one of these companies because they’ve been instilled with a fear of failure, then you know that there is some serious fraud going on, and the other guys are making a lot of money off it. These “meat-eaters” are devouring chiropractic businesses for breakfast with their false claims, and you better not be the next one to fall prey to them.

I’m not just warning the chiropractors about this, I’m warning the consultants who are stealing people’s money with phony claims and no results. When you’re taking money from hard working chiropractors and not doing them any good, you’re actually stealing from them. If you’re not skilled enough at what you do to understand the current climate of the chiropractic business and what professionals are actually facing today, you are hurting them instead of helping them– and taking all their money too. Some of these consultants are still using marketing tactics utilized in the 1970’s, and have no interest and using tactics that work today. The world of marketing has changed incredibly over the last 5 years. There’s a potential for wealth and success like never before, and none of these consultants know anything about these methods. I guarantee you that!

Do an intense evaluation from inside out with your chiropractic practice, finding those areas that you need help with. Even in this sagging economy, many DC’s are doing very well. I typically find that the marketing and new patient acquisition aspects of most practices is what chiropractors want to substantially ramp-up. If you need new patients, you should first seek out forms of marketing and advertising that are free. Believe it or not, the best advertising is free in today’s time. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. For example, did you know you can use YouTube and create videos to bring patients into the office and dominate the competition and search engines? Did you know you could use Myspace or Facebook to connect with local people in your area and brand yourself and your office?

When times are rough, it’s the innovators and creative marketers that survive and prosper. But if you turn to a chiropractic consultant to show you these cutting-edge methods, you’re throwing your money away. None of them are trained or knowledgeable of how to use Web 2.0 and social media to get your business on the fast track to success. And if any of them say they know the best methods and they’ve been using them for years, you’re falling right into a scam!

Keep these things in mind when you’re selecting a practice management group. Are their testimonials from prior customers actually real? Sometimes they are not. Next, make sure they specialize in exactly what you need. A sort of “handy-man” consultant can’t necessarily fix the very specific problems you’re having.
