Medical Assistant Career Opportunities

by Ada Denis

According to the US Department of Labor “Medical Assistants is projected to be one of the fastest growing occupations over the 2004-14 period.”

Medical Assistants perform a wide variety of duties in physicians offices depending on the size of the medical office. In smaller solo or two physician practices the duties of the Medical Assistant may include some front desk work. These front desk responsibilities vary from signing in and greeting patients to scheduling visits and patient testing and admissions.

However, due to the high costs of physician liability insurance, rent and salaries, mega-medical practices are the norm today. These are medical practices that have 15-25 physicians. Generally in a practice like this duties are broken down and are very delineated between front office and back office. Duties such as greeting the patient, answering the phone, scheduling appointments and dealing with insurance would be the responsibility of secretaries and insurance specialists trained in front office duties.

The Medical Assistant would be responsible for back office duties exclusively. These duties would include preparing the patient for the exam, taking a patient history, checking blood pressure and pulse, perhaps performing an EKG. The Medical Assistant would be responsible for drawing blood and assisting the physician during routine office procedures, depending on the type of medical practice.

In the past most Medical Assistants received on the job training. All that was required for someone to become a Medical Assistant was a high school diploma. Today, as more medical practices are specializing and as services rendered in physician offices become more complex these medical practices are looking for Medical Assistants who have had formal schooling and hold a degree in Medical Assisting.

If you are thinking of pursuing a degree as a Medical Assistant there are many different types of specialized Medical Assistant degrees to choose from in a variety of specialties including cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, ophthalmologic, dental, and pediatric. Each of these medical specialities have specific types of office treatments and testing which makes obtaining a degree as a Medical Assistant in a particular field of medicine invaluable when seeking a job.

Guarantee Success Now And Become A Student Of Action In Your Life

by Christina Helwig

While sitting in a symposium in a few months ago, I realized something very basic to the entire topic of personal development. I understood so much more clearly why even though I have a deep understanding of this material, I have not been able to produce the results I want in my life until now.

For years my focus has been on learning and understanding this information; not their twin sister – application. I have spent hours reading, studying and taking notes on these topics. Those hours moved me light years ahead mentally but they did nothing until now for my physical, daily environment. I have been so intent on getting my mind around these concepts that I failed to pay attention to the most crucial aspect of this process = personal action.

Throughout “Think and Grow Rich” Napoleon Hill gives his students many action steps to complete and several daily requirements to perform. My thinking was always “I will read the entire book and then go back and DO what he suggests.” This was a definite mistake. Even if I was not in the right position, those action steps would have slowly moved me closer to my goals and would have begun the process of building up my self-esteem, self-confidence and my level of awareness of my innate ability to handle my large goals. And, I incrementally would have been moving closer to what I wanted, even if it was only a little bit at a time. I have since become an active student of the application of these principles. It is only through action that I prepare the way and the method by which I can receive what I want in my life.

Please stop just reading about improving yourself and really think about whether you need to become an “active” student of “application” in your life. You learn the methods or the “certain way” only by doing, not by studying. Studying allows you to understand the process but to learn and internalize material you must act on all things that Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Wallace Wattles and all the other personal growth authors tell you to do.

“Take the first step in faith and the rest will be revealed to you.” Wallace Wattles. Take is a verb. A verb requires action. Recently I came up with an idea to help law students. I did not have the product finished or know all the details of what I wanted to include in my product. I did not know the distribution method or how I would advertise the product. But, I took action. I called my mentor and booked an appointment with her to talk about my idea. As the month ticked down I worked on my presentation, read some more material and got more ideas.

When I finally went in to talk to her in person she loved my idea. I only showed her a short snapshot of the project and she ended up booking me to teach to over 70 students in a month and a half. All of this happened because I did not wait until everything was “perfect,” “complete,” “just right” or “totally finished.” I acted on my idea and my idea produced results. As I continue to take action on this project the next steps and new ideas keep coming to me. The project gets better and better and will help many people in the near future.

You can do this too. Stop waiting for the time to be right and just start working on your ideas. Without action nothing will happen. You will continue to pile up self-help books and seminar tickets and you will blame the books and speakers for not helping you. They are helping you; they are giving you the tools you need to move forward. Since they are not there to hold your hand when you act, you have to do it on your own. Remember small steps add up to big results. Last year I climbed Half Dome in Yosemite and I did it one step at a time. Sometimes it was hard, and sometimes it was fairly easy, but every step was important because it moved me closer to my goal.

I know this may seem very simple but taking action is crucial to your progress and can delay or completely block your efforts if you do not pay attention to making things happen instead of just thinking about things happening. Like yin and yang: learning and application go are required to make the other function.

Finding the Right Keywords for Your Website

by Herb B. Lewis

Search engines are a free way to get customers to your business. To have this happen you have to pick carefully chosen keywords and phrases. The right keywords are like free yellow page ads. Work with good ones and a flood of targeted traffic will visit your site. If you do not pick with care, you will waste your time, so you need to do it right.

First gather and evaluate possible keywords and phrases. You may already have an idea of words, start with this and follow a few simple steps so you can find some easy traffic.

Think like your customers; write a short list of potential search words and phrases you would search to find your site. When you get a small list go to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and enter one of your keywords. Google will generate related keywords and an estimate of their search volume. This should give you a good list. Spend some time; try different words and different combinations of keyword phrases.

Popularity does not necessary make a keyword a good choice. It needs to be specific to what your company sells. The more specific your keyword is, the more likely it is buyers will find your site. Build up a good size list and then narrow it down to words and phrases that will direct the highest number of buying visitors to your web site.

As an example, the keyword “food” is a very popular, but your company sells bread. Millions of people searched Google for the word “food” last month and there was hundreds of thousands of web sites trying to outdo each other for that word. “Olive bread” will not get near as many Google searches, but it will not have near the number of sites competing for that phrase. You still may have over 10,000 people a month searching Google for “olive bread”.

It will take you a great amount of effort to get to the top of the first page of Google results for the word “food” and you may not be able to do it at all. Getting to the top for “food ” will get you thousands of people interested in buying everything from tomatoes to potatoes. Getting to the top of the list for “olive bread” will get you people looking for olive bread.

Brand names often make great keywords. Many brand names get over a thousand searches a month and do not have much competition.

You want people to find you who are ready to make a purchase; this requires playing around until you find the most specific and directly targeted phrases to bring the most interested buyers to you site. This requires putting yourself inside the mind of your soon to be customers to figure out what word or phrase a person looking for your product will use to search for you.

Your work is not done once you have chosen your keywords and added them to your web pages. You must continue to evaluate and test keywords to achieve search engine success.

The PN-40 has a 65K-color daylight-readable TFT screen for clarity in any light conditions, and is WAAS-enabled for the best possible positional accuracy. It has an impact-resistant and waterproof (IPX7) rubberized housing, and uses the same rock-solid push-button interface as the still-available Earthmate PN-20, which has performed successfully in the world’s most challenging environments.

Did youknow that DeLorme was the GPS provider for a pair of recent Baffin Island, Canada expeditions. The PN-20 was used on both Will Steger’s Global Warming 101 trip in 2007, and Ed Viesturs’ 2008 Canadian Arctic Trek for Earth Health. Viesturs, who had accompanied Steger on the Global Warming 101 trek, said he was impressed with the PN-20’s performance and simplicity of use, and was happy to be similarly outfitted for this year’s expedition. John Huston, who was base camp manager for Steger, also relied on a PN-20 during a 720-mile trip he led to the South Pole from November 2007 to January 2008.

In March of 2009, Huston and Tyler Fish will embark on North Pole ’09, equipped with an Earthmate PN-40 (DeLorme is also helping to underwrite the expedition). Following his South Pole trip, and a training expedition this year on Baffin Island, Huston had this to say: “The Delorme Earthmate makes it easy to navigate. The customization options make the displayed pages and information easy to access, which simplifies navigation a great deal. When traveling in the world’s polar regions we need a GPS that is reliable and easy to use. The Earthmate is our choice, we see it as an honest friend on the ice. it never lies to us and records our progress faithfully.” When the PN-40 hits store shelves this Fall, it will be available at major outdoor retailers as well as online GPS resellers.

Thats the new device report for this month. Stay tuned and why not head over and Join our newsletters.

Turning a Job Layoff into a New Opportunity

by Estee Taschereau

No one likes to think about the possibility of losing their job, but the reality of life is that layoffs do happen. A little preparation combined with some mental reinforcement can make this transition in life a little easier and possibly more rewarding.

Unfortunately, when there are layoffs it’s usually more than a few people, and they may possess the same job skills and background as you. This makes for heavier competition. More competition can easily translate to a longer job search and fewer opportunities.

There are steps you can take to lessen the pain of unemployment and make your job search more productive. Let’s take a look at some of the steps you can take, everything from polishing your resume, to clearing your head of negative thinking.

There’s not always warning of upcoming layoffs. Sure there can be signs, like an increase in the stress level, or a long-term drop in production. Sometimes the company is prepared for the rollercoaster ride in business, but let the truth be known, not even the company president knows for sure when those layoffs will happen.

Sometimes there are other indicators that the office or factory is on a downward spiral. Behavior changes in management is one example. Managers can turn to micro managing in an attempt to gain more control over their situation. Sometimes they turn to micro managing just to appear to be busy and needed, in an attempt to ward off their own potential layoff.

What should you do when you see those warning signs? First things first, you should pull out your resume and start working on your updates. Think about the accomplishments you have experienced over the years, how you’ve made yourself a valuable employee. Capture qualities like attendance, promptness, and willingness to learn.

Remember to focus some attention on your thinking and beliefs. There are many tools and methods that you can learn that will help you deal with the stress of a layoff. Anything you can do to empower yourself will serve you in your job search and interviewing process. Techniques such as EFT or Reiki Energy Healing can help you clear your mind and release negative thinking.

You can turn around the negative aspect of a job layoff and turn it into a new opportunity. If you get stuck working on that resume, put it down for a minute and clear your mind. Use those tools and skills you have developed in personal power to release and restructure your thinking. Turning a job layoff into a new opportunity can open doors you never new existed.

Laughing Til It Hurts

by Herbert Reich

Any media which is stored in electronic form is known as digital media. Unlike analogue media (any information which exists in physical form, such as books, paintings and so on), digital media is information which can be stored and displayed or listened to on a computer. This media is stored in binary form (a digital format consisting of ones and zeroes which your computer can interpret) and can then be translated by your computer and presented to you in a form intelligible to human beings – text, images and audio.

Nowadays, it is almost impossible to avoid using digital media whether directly or indirectly, especially for those who uses computers every day. The Internet is comprised of various types of digital media. E cards are among the components of the Internet that uses digital media. E cards are combinations of images, texts, and audio. Certain e cards include 2D or 3D animations and there are e cards that are made using video.

How are they made? One of the most important elements is the picture or image. Otherwise, it is the 2D or 3D animation, or the video, if it is a video e card. The image used in an e card can be drawn using digital drawing software like Adobe Illustrator or copied from clip-art libraries. It can also be a photograph taken using a digital camera or scanned from a magazine. An image is a combination of hundreds and thousands of tiny dots called pixels, and each pixel is represented by certain binary numbers. The numbers contain the information of each pixel, such as the color, brightness, contrast, and so forth. The more pixels an image has, the more information it contains, and the better the image looks on the computer screen. This is also the main reason why certain image is larger than the other.

On the other hand, 2D or 3D animations are pictures that move. They are made of a set of images combined together using scripting language, so that they appear to be moving. Therefore, these non-static images are larger than static images, although they may appear cartoon-like. The same algorithm can also be used to make the texts to appear moving on the e card. Then, audio files are added for effect.

This combination of images, along with text and audio if desired makes up the contents of an E card. While E cards offer more features than a traditional greeting card, they are far easier to send; they can be sent very quickly and at little to no expense. You don’t need a stamp and they can’t get lost in the mail! All you need is an email address to send them to; there’s plenty of different E cards to choose from, with funny E cards being by far the most popular. E cards are great for any occasion – holidays, weddings and birthdays, or simply to let someone know you’re thinking of them.

Dispute Equifax

by Justin Hutto

A dispute can be filed with Equifax by creating a dispute letter and mailing it to them. In your letter you will need to include a reason as to why the listing is inaccurate.

There are two options to do this; you can do it yourself or hire a credit repair service to do it on your behalf. However be aware if you do it yourself that you must send a letter to each credit bureau.

This means that if you send a letter to Equifax and they remove the mark you will also need to send a letter to Transunion or Experian. There is no communication between the three bureaus regarding disputes.

Reasons to dispute a listing are; item is out of date, information is wrong, not my account, account paid in full, and more. The Fair Credit Reporting Act says that you have the right to dispute any mark on your credit report.

In addition this act says the bureaus must remove a listing from your report if it can not be verified. This act is what the dispute process is based upon.

When your dispute is filled the bureau will conduct an investigation. They will contact the creator of the negative mark and ask them to verify the debt, the amounts and the dates.

If the mark can not be verified then it is removed from your credit report. Often an investigation results in the removal of bad credit. This is a result of many businesses being unwilling to spend the time and money verifying disputed debts.

However before the bureau will investigate your dispute they must say it is valid. There is no clear cut definition of what a valid dispute is.

Often a dispute letter will be answered with a letter from the bureau asking for more information about the dispute. Many credit repair experts claim that this is nothing more than a stall tactic used to avoid the investigation.

This is because it will only cost the bureaus money to investigate disputes. The bureaus customers are businesses and only because of government law is there a dispute process.

I suggest a credit repair service if you have multiple listings you wish to dispute. However you can repair your credit yourself if you have minor damage, be patient and persistent.

In sum you can remove bad credit items without waiting 7 years. To do this you must dispute the credit bureaus.

The Site Rush Review – Can Website Flipping Be Big Business?

by Lilia Wiemann

Alex Goad and Saj P. of “4 Tier Annihilation Method”, and “Affiliate Payload” fame, made a new product, The Site Rush, which is soon to be released. Since their previous projects were all huge successes, we can expect this one to have quite an impact again.

What is it about? Well, The Site Rush looks at a specific kind of online business: Website Flipping. That’s a fancy name for buying websites and selling them for a profit. Saj and Alex look at it as virtual real estate.

The big question of course is: Can you make a nice profit in this business? What are the angles? Let’s have a look.

If you look around on the internet with the eye of a marketeer, a few things are pretty obvious. First of all, (and you don’t have to be a marketeer to notice this one) there are a lot of very poorly made websites.

You can also find websites that ARE good, that people like to use and spend time on, but they are not making money. Or maybe just a little. After all, turning a good website into a cash machine is a skill on its own.

The last category are websites that are good enough, that also have good monetizing built into them, but they just don’t have enough visitors to make it work. How come? Well, usually it’s a matter of poorly done SEO. If people don’t find the site, they don’t use it.

There is an obvious point I still have to make, because all of us tend to forget about it: The internet has just started! Nothing is cast in stone yet.

Most online markets are pretty much wide open for you, me or anyone else to enter and eventually take over with a solid website and service. It’s a matter of finding that site that lacks in one of the three topics I listed above: It’s poorly made, poorly monetized or the SEO is not good. If you can buy that website and improve it, you might strike gold!

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I, for one, would not get into the site flipping business at this moment. I just don’t feel I have the proper skills to do it.

However, Saj P. and Alex Goad are VERY internet savvy people, and they claim to have developed a system that makes it possible for “the ordinary guy” (or gal) to have their website flipping business. They offer a blueprint with details on all the steps you have to take to be successful in this field.

Will I buy The Site Rush then? I am still not 100% sure to be honest. But I will most definitely have a good look at it! And since there are more then enough websites out there with their own The Site Rush Bonus offers, I could probably get myself a good deal.

How to Find a Great Job Using the Internet

by Ada Denis

Would you like to make a job change? Are you returning to the workforce after an extended time away? Maybe you’d like to work part-time. Whatever the reason, using this system and giving it a little time will help you find the perfect job for you.

1. Spend some time deciding on the kind of job you’d like to land. Be specific and write it down. This step must come first so you can apply for jobs that are a good fit. That way when you accept that offer, you’ll feel great about it.

2. Spend some time brainstorming about places you’d like to work. Again, be specific and think about if you’re more comfortable in a big organization, a small business or something in between. Maybe the nonprofit world appeals to you. Write down the names of the employers that you come up with.

3. Create a folder in your bookmarks or favorite places and give it a name such as ‘job hunt’ or ‘career change’.

4. Visit several of the large, job hunting websites online. CareerBuilder, Monster, and Indeed (linked in references below) are three great places to start. Register with them and save them in your bookmarks.

5. At each of the major sites you’ve just visited, perform a search using the criteria you laid out in step one. Each of these sites will let you create a search that includes the location, type of job, part-time/full-time, salary, etc. Include any elements that are important to you. If you find you’re not particular in a particular area, you can leave that search field blank. But be honest. If you really want to work close to home, don’t expand the search to include employers 50 miles away. You want the job you end up with to be a great match for you.

6. After your performed the searches at the above sites and reviewed the results, save the search for future reference. All of the sites listed in Step 4 have an option to have updated searches emailed to you. This will keep you advised when new jobs matching your criteria are posted.

7. Begin visiting the websites of the employers that you listed in Step 2. Look to see if they list employment opportunities on their website. The bigger the employer, the more likely this is. Look for links at the bottom of the website labeled ’employment’ or ‘career’. Sometimes you’ll find information about openings in the ‘about us’ section of the website. If you find that a website does list job openings, bookmark that page of the website in the folder you created in Step 3.

8. Visit Craigslist.com and look for your city. Under ‘jobs’ you’ll find a variety of categories. Everything from Accounting/Finance to Writing/Editing. Explore the categories you’re interested in. Again, bookmark this page in the folder you created earlier.

9. By this point in the process, you have a neat folder in your bookmarks or favorites that includes links to job openings on major job boards as well as employers that interest you. You’re also be receiving emails of updated job searches that match your criteria. Continue to review these emails and visit the websites. Continue to bookmark employer websites or other job boards as you become aware of them.

10. Apply for jobs that are a good fit but continue to work the search system in the above steps. Give it as much time as you are able and soon you’ll find the perfect job.
