Virtual Meeting Icebreakers: 4 Proven Techniques

by Tyler Vaughn

Meeting icebreakers help us break through shyness and establish a relaxed flow to the meeting. You might not think of icebreakers when you plan an online meeting. But you should.

Another challege is that webinar software can frighten participants. If they haven’t used web conference technology it can be difficult to relax and participate.

If you’re running an online meeting you’ll want at least one of these icebreaker tips:

1. Introduce yourselves

At a bare minimum, always ask who’s on the call. If participants don’t know each other – say in a kickoff meeting with people from other companies – take it a step further and ask each person to expand beyond their name. Try for title, purpose attending the meeting, and something personal. A common (and effective) tip is to ask them to tell something about themselves we may not know.

2. Ask for a lead-in

Use a topic-related icebreaker to set the stage for the meeting. (I like icebreakers that do double duty.) For example, ask attendees what question they’re hoping to answer, or what problem they most want to solve. Check to see if your web conference software has online chat. If it does you can have participants type their answers and get oriented to the software’s feature.

3. Use a visual puzzle

Make a quick powerpoint slide with a question to answer. For example, ask them to complete a quote, answer a riddle, or figure out what a closeup picture is of. Why a visual? It gives participants a chance to focus on the presentation screen AND ensures their software’s working. If you’re feeling really brave have them try to write the answer on-screen with the annotation tool.

4. Take a survey

If your webinar software supports it, post a survey for attendees to take. It can be an on-topic survey, particularly good as a lead-in for a training meeting, or even a “fun facts” set of trivia questions. If you give the survey results (and the correct answers) later in the meeting it can make a nice break when the energy starts to flag.

Ready for your next online meeting? Take a minute and plan an icebreaker. You’ll be glad you did.

Internet Article Marketing – Your Way To Faster Profits

by James Comer

Wikipedia, the popular online encyclopedia defines ‘article marketing’ as “a type of advertising through which a business writes short articles related to its respective industry.”

I’m here to tell you that internet article marketing works! Why do you think so many article directories are popping up all over the internet the past couple of years? Internet article marketing is a great method to get tons of traffic to your website without breaking the bank by spending your hard earned money on advertising services like Google Adwords(tm), Yahoo Search Marketing(tm), or Microsoft adCenter(tm).

If your niche is very competitive, your costs can begin to add up fast. Sometimes you’ll tally up your finances and find that you have a negative ROI. This is easily avoided by using internet article marketing.

By using article marketing, you can become a known expert in your particular niche(s).

Article marketing builds lots of incoming back-links for your website from all over the internet.

How Do I Go About Using Internet Article Marketing?

As you know, the world wide web is made up of many websites. These sites all contain content. People search for content about a specific subject. They find the information by using a search engine. What search engines do is ‘spider’ or ‘crawl’ the internet visiting each page. They take this content and index it using the descriptions and keywords found on the page.

The search engines give you the best information that they have about the subject you are interested in. They do this by carefully cataloging and arranging the information that they found when they were crawling the web. This information has to be accurate, and be closely related to the term that you searched on. If they are written well, articles are considered a very valuable information source from which to learn.

For websites to keep visitors returning to their websites, a webmaster has to give their visitors accurate, interesting and timely information. This aspect is crucial for someone who maintains a daily blog. If the blogger wants to climb high and remain there in the search results for his given niche, he has to make posts to his blog every day.

As you may know, posting to your site everyday can take up alot of your valuable time. The webmaster can supplement his content with high quality articles which were written by other people as long as the author’s resource box is left intact with the links. The person running the site finds these articles on article directories.

What is an Article Directory?

An article directory is composed of a big database of articles about a variety of subjects in a variety of categories. People who write articles are encouraged to submit their articles there. Webmasters, that’s usually you- are able to gather free articles for posting on their own websites as long as they credit the original author by leaving the resource box intact including the author’s links. Article directories hold alot of information about almost any subject that you can think up. There are probably some subjects that you probably haven’t even thought of that you could find there.

You’ll find specialized article directories which only accept articles whose subject is about certain niches such as computer technology, or skin care. You just need to read the submission rules and each directory to see what is permissible and what is not. Most topics are allowed as long as they don’t promote hate speech or advocate violence.

What Do I get in Return For Giving My Articles To An Article Directory?

Following the last paragraph, there is a place where the author can place his resource box. This usually contains one or two sentences about the author and invites the reader to visit his or her website for more information beyond the article.

You’ll gain many benefits from submitting your article to article directories. You will get lots of free exposure and free marketing from it.

Research is Important

Like any facet of marketing, internet article marketing is no different. You just have to research the subjects of your articles. You can do this research by simply looking at and visiting and reading forums which center around your subject. Pay attention to what people are “talking about”. Now that you have chosen your topic, or probably several of them to write about, it shouldn’t be too hard to be able to write an article which is between 250-750 words.

Ok, Now That I’ve Written My Article, What Next?

First thing to do is to post your article on your website or blog. Wait a couple of weeks to a month until your article has been indexed in the search engines. You’ll be able to tell by searching for your article title in quotation marks. After you find it, it’s alright to submit it to the article directories. This is the way to do it in order to minimize chances of any duplicate content penalties.

Are You Serious About Waiting A Month?

There is a new method of writing unique versions and submitting them to your articles directories and your own website. It’s possible to easily submit this article to over 700 websites as well. This serves two purposes- first, you aren’t trashing the article directories with more duplicant content, they get enough of that everyday. All you have to do is pick a few articles from one of the top directories, and search for them and then read the links you find and you’ll see how almost completely, if not ‘comepletely’ the articles are word for word the same as on other sites.

Trickle Down Or Trickle Up?

by J. Stromsteen

The world’s financial system is as weak now as it has been in many decades. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke has a huge problem on his hands: a very wide-ranging credit freeze up surrounding financial institutions. This is a problem that mere cuts in interest rates cannot cure.

The exceptionally low interest rates of the early and mid-2000s and the continual bailing out by Alan Greenspan of any Wall Street player that got into trouble created enormous temptations to speculate with borrowed funds and throw caution to the wind, completely ignoring risk. Why worry about risk when it’s not your money and even if you get into trouble you can get bailed out? This problem is called moral hazard.

The derivatives speculated by Wall Street players do not have near the value they led us to believe they had. Now we are left in a frantic pursuit to de-leverage in spite of the cost. Unsurprisingly the buyers have thinned out and institutional investors do not want to add to the already puffed up package in their portfolio; particularly now that the real value is evident. So now we are finding ourselves in a liquidity emergency to the extent of which we have not experienced since pre World War II.

Commercial as well as investment banks are sitting on overvalued assets such as mortgages and private equity loans they cannot sell due to being packaged with derivatives of very questionable value. This is a nice way of saying that Wall Street lied about the value and has overpriced them by billions of dollars. Basically this means that they do not have the cash to make new loans and this is killing our credit based economy. For banks and brokers to make their balance sheets stronger by de-leveraging the banks would need to reduce the number of loans on their books. Doing this would overwhelm the economy and turn a bad recession into a long lasting depression.

This is the reason for the bailout by the Federal Reserves by means of long term financing at discount prices. What other choice do they have? They can let the entire financial infrastructure of the world freeze up or lend cash to financial institutions and take the subprime mortgages and related securities of questionable value as collateral. In this way the Federal Reserve has become the buyer of last resort which is very inflationary. These financial middlemen are intended to take the cash borrowed from the Federal Reserve and lend it out again to higher quality borrowers; unfortunately this is not happening. Theoretically, this would work out as a trickle-down effect.

Why not a trickle-up effect? This bailout is going to cost at least $1,000,000,000,000. Yes, that’s one trillion. Instead of giving that one trillion in newly created money to the Wall Street fat cats so they can continue to speculate in derivatives causing more of the same problems that we are facing now, why not give that one trillion to the people of America and let it trickle up to the fat cats on Wall Street? Don’t you think giving every man, woman, and child in the US a check for about $3,200 would help stimulate the economy and get money flowing again? That would be $16,000 for a family of five. Why not help the entire population instead of just a few well-connected, fat cat, white collar criminal insiders? Why should they be given a trillion dollars of new money?

Why can’t we do this to help all of America in this way instead of a few Wall Street fat cats? Why is it they should be given a trillion dollars of new money to throw around like they have in the past?

The 3 Aspects of Productive Ad Words Campaigns

by Kirt Christensen

All over the world-wide-web marketers are calling out the virtues of Adwords. They promise youthful lazy enterprisers that for just so much money the will impart their knowledge on how they can generate several hundred dollars each day in the comfortable surroundings of their own home, and they only have to work 3-4 hours too.

Whoa there tiger, did you say lazy?

Sure! The reality is that Adwords is not that complex and by putting a little more effort into the project these young entrepreneurs could learn what these experts are charging money to teach.

In order for an AdWords campaign to succeed it is necessary for the strategy to contain three key components:

1. A successful keyword. The keyword decision is the most important decision for an Adwords campaign. Without efficient keywords to get business going the rest of what the marketer does won’t make any difference.

The secret to choosing a keyword is to choose one that is general enough to allow the consumer who has never seen nor heard of the product in question to be directed to it while at the same time being specific enough that it is not going to generate an excessive number of false leads.

We need to note here that search engines charge the marketer for the click on the ad whether there are sales happening or not. It is their bottom line that has their greatest concern.

The significance of this is that when an ad has a common keyword (advertisers can go to the search engine’s data base and find keywords that are often used in ads) it may bring in tons of visitors but not many sales.

Adwords offers some great features to advertisers that have a problem gathering useful keywords for their ads. By going to www.adwords.google.com advertisers can access these great features.

2. High bid rankings. The basic fact is that internet searchers come from a broad range of demographics. They usually know what they want and want it right away.

This means that they are not going to have the patience to search through hundreds of pages of information; if what they are looking for is not within the first five to ten pages of a search they are probably going to attempt to send their search in a new direction with a new set of keywords.

What this means for the marketer is that it is an absolute necessity that their ad be among these first five to ten pages. Search engines do not organize pay per click ads on a “first come, first served” basis. The ad whose creator is willing to pay the highest sum per click is going to be the one found at the top of the list.

It is essential that the advertiser find the delicate balance between their sales and the money they are willing to part with; while an ad at the top of the list may receive more attention that does it little good if the advertising budget won’t stretch far enough to allow it its maximum exposure.

Fortunately, in the interests of not forcing their advertisers into bankruptcy AdWords allows them the ability to put a “cap” on the amount of money they are willing to spend on an advertising campaign; when this amount is exceeded the advertisement will simply be pulled from circulation.

3. Follow up. Even if you have maximum effort from a crack team of advertisers, there aren’t any guarantees about the results after an ad campaign is up and running. The advertiser still must watch the actions of the ads so that a problem can be avoided or minimized, and changes made to the ad campaign as needed.

There it is! All the key features of a profitable Adwords campaign have been laid out for you without a high price tag. The ball is in your court .are you going to take it and score?

Babysitter Rates: How Much For A Sitter?

by Rashel Dan

How much do you need to pay for a babysitting service? What is the average babysitter rate? These seems to be some of the most common questions asked these days. It is also a question that doesn’t have one definite answer. On the average, sitters are usually paid anywhere from $3-$12. This seems to be quite a wide bracket. This is only because there are several factors that determine the exact rate of pay.

Location

Regions and areas may have slightly different rates. Urban areas in particular may have steeper rates than rural ones. You may be able to get an idea of rates in your particular area by looking for online average rates. You could also survey your neighbors on how much they would consider paying a sitter. If you have a particular preference for a sitter who lives far away, you may have to pay her extra due to transportation expenses.

Number of Kids

Rates are also dependent on the number of kids to sit for. You can hardly expect a sitter to work for only $3 if she has to watch over three kids or more. Aside from the number of kids, you also have to consider the ages of the kids she has to look after. Younger kids and babies are naturally more difficult to watch over. They may be hard to discipline and they have many needs that require the babysitter’s attention. You would therefore have to pay a high rate if you have a toddler. You would have to pay an even higher rate if you have more than one toddler.

Sitter’s Age

The age of the sitter is also another factor which affects the rate. Teens aged 16-18 and adults would naturally have to be paid higher than younger sitters. Those who are in the 11-15 years old bracket may be contented with $3-$5 an hour. You need to be choosy though. You can’t just pick a young sitter just because she has a lower rate. You would really need an older teen or an adult sitter if you have lots of kids or if you have young kids that need minding. Young babysitters may not know how to handle small kids or respond to emergency situations.

Experience

The sitter’s babysitting experience should also be considered, of course. Those who have extensive experience would charge a lot. Those who have special first aid and emergency training would also want to receive more.

Work Details

These rates are only for the basic duties of babysitters. Often though, you would have to ask your sitter to perform a couple of extra tasks. You may have to pay extra if you expect her to cook for the kids or tutor them. Other work details that affect the rate include number of hours of work and specific hours of the day on duty. Night sitters may require high rates.

Specific Days on the Month

Some babysitters will charge more for particular days of the month. Expect to pay more for sitters who work on rest days, holidays and Sundays.

There are other factors that can affect the babysitter rate. What you have to really do to find your sitter’s exact rate is to talk to your sitter. Negotiate on a rate that both of you will find acceptable.

Mona Vie Scam? Hardly, But There Are Some Questions To Be Asked.

by Chris Gatenby

Mona Vie sells a few versions of a nutritional juice product through a multi level marketing system. The products are reported to have the health benefits of antioxidants as well as increasing energy and reducing aches and pains. Successful distributors can earn a good income.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mona Vie was started by Dallin Larsen. The firm is well respected and is considered to have a generous compensation program that can be lucrative if you produce. Like many MLM programs, Mona Vie pays a team bonus on a binary plan in addition to various other income streams including retail sales mark-up, bulk order bonus, first order bonus, star maker bonus, executive bonus and a leadership incentive.

The Mona Vie juice costs $30 to $40 per 25 ounce bottle and the difference between wholesale and retail prices allows for a mark-up of about 15 percent. Bulk purchases qualify for lower pricing and earn bonus points. Obviously, the idea is to incentive volume purchases and reward those who move a large volume of product.

The recommended dosage of the juice in order to achieve the claimed benefits is one to two ounces twice daily. At that rate, a bottle would last about a week. The key ingredient is acai berry, from the Brazilian Amazon. Acai is considered to be a super-food due to high levels of antioxidants. Other fruits are added to created a juice blend which tastes great to some people.

As with many nutritional supplements, one hears claims that Mona Vie can increase your energy level, reduce joint pain and ward off serious medical conditions such as heart disease, hypertension and so on. Mona Vie does not make aggressive disease prevention claims in their literature so such claims are probably the work of over-zealous distributors. The company literature talks about delivering antioxidants, phytonutrients and glucosamine and esterified fatty acids in certain of their products.

Studies have shown that few Americans consume the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables. People whose diet is lacking can benefit from a nutritional supplement. However, it is important to check the product label details and not just assume that a product is well rounded. From what I have seen, Mona Vie does not replace a multi-vitamin.

Mona Vie literature shows that the juice provides 20% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C per serving and 1% and 3% of sodium and total carbohydrates respectively. The ORAC score which is a measure of antioxidants is not shown. Acai berry is the principal ingredient and it has a high ORAC but that does not necessarily mean that a serving of the juice provides a high dose of antioxidants.

For the price of Mona Vie, I was expecting much fuller coverage of all the vitamins and minerals and a stated ORAC value per serving. Based on what I have seen, the product delivers a very narrow amount of diet supplementation at a high price. The liquid multi-vitamin supplement that I use, which is also an MLM product, costs only $30 delivered for a whole month’s supply and covers all the vitamins and minerals as well as phytonutrients and antioxidants (2500 ORAC per serving). The Mona Vie juice looks very weak in comparison.

For a really powerful antioxidant supplement, I like Xocai Healthy Chocolate, which is an MLM product. One Xocai Power Square contains 3582 ORAC and it tastes great. I think a limitation with a juice business is that you have to get people to change their habits and start drinking the juice whereas with healthy chocolate they want to eat it, especially when it is good for them.

I think that Mona Vie strengths may lie in marketing and distribution rather than in the value equation when it comes to the product. Consumable products are an advantage when you are trying to build residual income but it is best if the products are value priced. I know of several products that offer better value to the consumer and that raises a red flag in my mind when it comes to Mona Vie.

It is easier to promote a business when the products are better value than what people can find elsewhere, have strong appeal (who doesn’t like chocolate) and are something that people are already spending money on.

In conclusion, I do not see Mona Vie as a fit for me but one has to respect the success that the company and their distributors enjoy. Those that see value in the product will be best positioned to succeed with it.

success using article marketing

by vidah

The use of article marketing is still the number one way to get more people to visit your website and one that won’t cost a cent! The number of locations articles can be placed is enormous with each one containing a link back to a site of your choice. Popular sites are the best because it should give your article a great deal of exposure; an increase in visitors to your site should happen quite quickly.

Top sites are also viewed by search engines as authority sites so it is to your benefit in many ways to have your content accepted; by improving your standing, you will by default, also improve the level of trust people have for you.

Article marketing carried out regularly can bring fantastic rewards as people begin to see you as an expert in your field. Convincing people of your knowledge in certain areas ensures they will always trust what you write. Over time the number of links you receive from other high ranking or authority sites will increase your own ranking with Google; as your ranking grows, there will be even more visitors to your site. Links from other sites (especially if they are popular) just improves your ranking and exposure; the greatest benefit of this is none of it is costing you a single dollar!

It is the links placed in the text and at the bottom of the page that makes article marketing so useful, successful and popular! When other internet users find your articles good, they tend to insert them into their own sites with all the back links to your site which just helps its ranking.

The speed at which websites get visited and registered by search engines can be ‘hit and miss’. The process can be speeded up a little if the sites where the articles are submitted are popular and you continue to write and submit articles.

Article marketing helps to improving the ranking of a site but in addition to this it also helps increase the amount of content at the same time which again improves rank. For the most part, people who are directed to your website are not expecting to buy or be sold anything. There is no reason why you cannot be truthful about what you are doing once they reach your website provided you have useful information.

There is no reason why you cannot be truthful about what you are doing once they reach your website provided they have useful information. It is once they have entered your site where you have the chance to sell to them. Doing it this way ensures the visitor is not mislead and is happy to be shown what you are selling. By doing this you are securing any order you make and will receive less refund requests.

It is this process of article marketing that ensures you will be in business for a long time; regularly submitting articles is necessary and should not be viewed as something you only have to do once. It is not just articles that you write that will be on other websites but if your site is good, you will receive links from other websites also; each time your article is duplicated on other sites it increases the number of people who can use it. You cannot dismiss just how effective article marketing is at getting people to your site for free; all you have to do is ensure your content is ‘on topic’ and unique to have constant visitors.

Career Coaching and Assessment – Building Happy Employees

by George Purdy

There are two main categories of career assessment. The first examines a person’s aptitudes, training, and preferences, as part of career coaching development. This type is mostly reserved for high school and college students seeking a professional career that is well suited to their unique personalities and talents.

A different kind of career assessment examines career choices retrospectively, long after graduation. Companies and individuals, specialized in career coaching, will examine the person’s salary, benefits package, importance to the company, job satisfaction, and the stability of the company and the industry.

Security can no longer be found in just making the same average salary as your friends, or in working for an average company at 30 to 35 years of age. This does not assure you of employment in a few years, or the opportunity of advancement. For an honest review of your circumstances, objective perspective on your potential, and real-world suggestions for possible changes, a career coach can help.

Students may have decided upon a career path years ago, but an experienced coach can help tell whether their path is bolstered by the proper training and skills. Some students choose to follow a career they’ve desired since childhood, but are unprepared for the demands which that career path may entail. Choosing an alternate career goal, or different employment altogether may be the wisest move.

Many progressive companies offer career assessment and coaching for their staff. It might seem unusual for an employer to tell a staff member that they aren’t happy with their job, but it is actually a pretty good idea. Unhappy employees are less productive, and moving such dissastisfied workers to a position they would be happier in will make them more productive.

Employees who are happy in their careers and doing well can benefit too. They will receive the same positive image of a company that truly cares about their interests and does not simply fixate upon the bottom line. If they remain loyal, they can expect a good future. Career assessment by companies then, can be helpful for everyone.

There are two types of career assessment. One type, which involves determining a student’s likes and dislikes, and also, his or her weaknesses and strengths, is career coaching development. This will help the student chooses a professional career that suits his or her personality and talents. Another type comes later in life to evaluate how good or bad a career choice might have been. A professional or a company specializing in coaching examines salary, benefits, and importance to a corporation, satisfaction and even industry job stability. A career coach can see the big picture and offer an honest assessment and solid suggestions for possible changes.

Manage AdWords Marketing Campaigns – Keys Of Success

by Kirt Christensen

The reports you hear on the TV on making big bucks in one day by using Google Adwords, the ones that say it take little time and effort. They are feeding you a line.

They are definitely leaving some information out. To whit: there have been man man-hours invested researching and establishing the campaigns that are profitable, and they are profitable because they were well put together.

Do not let this introduction to AdWords fool you. The concept behind AdWords is a brilliant one; you provide the creative ideas and the search engine will do all of the legwork for you. It is possible to make a tremendous amount of money with AdWords if you know the proper technique.

First and foremost, the key factor involved in the establishment of a successful AdWords campaign is a carefully chosen keyword.

An ideal keyword will be one that is general enough to allow a consumer who has not been previously exposed to your product to locate it in a search but specific enough that it is not going to yield a tremendous number of false leads; remember, the search engine that is facilitating your pay per click campaign is going to charge you for the number of times that the link in your advertisement was followed, regardless of the profit it may or may not have brought in.

There are various tools offered by Adwords to help advertisers in the choosing of keywords for their ads. The tools aid them in locating the most searched on words on the internet, the ones with the most popularity. They also help in finding synonyms that can aid them in the expansion of their ad campaign or to use in future campaigns.

Another key factor in the successful management of an AdWords campaign is the amount of money the advertiser is willing to put down for every time their ad is chosen.

A normal web surfer won’t keep searching for the information he wants past the first 5-10 pages of search results. So, for the ad to attract the largest buying pool it must show up in those first 5-10 pages.

PPC advertisements are arranged by the search engine on a greater to lesser basis; that means that ads that are bringing them greater profits will be given higher rank status than those that bring lesser profits. The more an advertiser will pay the higher it will be ranked and the more visibility it will be given.

One final thought; after selection of keywords and setting up bids and ads, careful monitoring of your ads is imperative. Ads that are profitable and bring sales and leads might warrant a higher bid to give them greater exposure higher in the ranks. Ads that aren’t being productive should be rewritten.

Careful management of your AdWords campaign, both before and after launch, will give your campaign the best possible start in the world.
