Whatever your hobby is, someone is making money with it on the internet. We are a part of the information age where information reigns and those that have it are the kings. It seems as though everyone wants more and more information and the way to get it is to take a trip on the Information Highway. The internet is expanding at a phenomenal rate and more people are using it for longer periods of time. Just last year internet usage grew by another 16 percent.

At last count there are a reported 105,170,327 active web surfers in the US and 165,745,689 people in total who have internet access. In fact, there are around 450 million surfers around the world with over 250 million of those regularly surfing through cyberspace.

What do people search for on the internet? INFORMATION! Whatever your interests are, hundreds and possibly thousands of surfers are currently searching for facts and info about the same things that interest you.

So you see, if you have a hobby, you have knowledge and expertise about that hobby AND people want that information and WILL PAY TO GET IT. All you have to do is put that knowledge and information into some sort of information product and then sell it over the internet. There are various formats to choose for your information, but right now, the most popular are eBooks and Video.

I’d like to write an ebook but I just don’t have the skills, you might be thinking. So lets get some help with that little problem. You could go to the internet and search for Ghostwriters, but you might get a pig in a poke so to speak. Instead, go to one of those sites where experts offer their services in a bidding environment. My favorites are www.elance.com and www.guru.com (by the way, they offer assistance with writing your request job offer as well as evaluating and picking a service provider). Here is a tip that will help you get across what you want: make an audio recording of your experiences on one of those inexpensive little digital recorders which allow you to upload the recording to you computer and then provide that recording to your selected ghostwriter. That way you don’t have to be skillful in writing and sometimes it is much easier and flows better when you just speak what you want rather than trying to write it down.

There is another very good way to capitalize off of your hobby via the internet. Find someone else who is selling information about your hobby over the internet and become an affiliate for that product. As an affiliate, you promote the product and each sale that occurs as a result of your promotional efforts pays you a nice commission. These commissions can often be as much as 75%. I suggest you don’t promote anything for which you get paid less than 35%.

Promoting a product, about which you know a lot, is not a difficult thing to do. You don’t have to have a degree in marketing to do it. You capitalize on your exert knowledge about the subject, in this case, your hobby. Just search the internet for blogs and forums where other hobbiest are talking about your hobby and post your own revel ant comments. With your comment, you will include a link which contains your affiliate id. When someone likes your comment and wants to know more, they will click the link and go to the product site. If they buy, you get paid. Not that hard at all. People are earning a full time income doing just what I have explained.

Articles are supposed to be only so long and I am getting very close to the limit so I will close this out now. I realize I could have explained it all in a little more detail and I will post some additional articles doing that later. My point is: you have a hobby and it could be earning you a good deal of money, even a full time income. A lot of people have converted their hobby into income and are now earning $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 and more per month as affiliates promoting other peoples products over the information highway.

How to Increase Opt-In Page Conversions

These days a phrase I hear a lot from Internet marketers is: “Ray, I can’t get people to opt-in to my squeeze page any more. It seems like people don’t opt-in like they used to.” Are you nodding your head, right now? “Well, duh, Ray.”

It’s harder than ever to get an opt-in. Partly, this is because of spam, fear, and paranoia. Once upon a time, all you had to do was include the magic words, “Sign up here to get e-mails”. No kidding, that’s all it took.

People would opt-in like crazy! E-mails, e-newsletters — everything was so new and exciting. My, how things have changed. Today, we are deluged with e-mails. People are constantly changing e-mail addresses. People have multiple e-mail addresses – heck, some people even have a fake e-mail address that they never check, just to deal with all the spam.

How do you crack through all the clutter? More to the point, how do you get opt-ins that are real? In other words, people who actually want to read your e-mails that you send them.

There are proven methods for increasing your opt-in conversions; all it takes is a small amount of work.

Use these three easy methods to increase your opt-in page conversions:

Make a good offer. People don’t want to opt-in unless they are getting something in return – a video, a special report, a piece of software. To most folks, opting-in is the same as begging for more spam. So you need to try a creative approach. Whatever your ethical bribe, make it stunning. Offer quality work with great writing and important information, something that addresses your readers’ needs. Don’t just offer the same old tired deals. Make it something that they can only get from YOU.

Try a BIG, responsive HTML button. Before we go further, check out my website at www.RayEdwardsCopy.com. Do you see anything interesting about the opt-in button? For one thing, it’s really big! You can’t miss it. This button isn’t just large, though – the color changes from red to green as your cursor slides over it. This is a subtle psychological technique to bring the customer from “Stop” to “GO!” Sure, it may sound a bit silly, but it really works to increase conversions. And it’s not just me saying that. My colleagues – Armand Morin, Michel Fortin, even Eric Graham, The Conversion Doctor — have noticed the same thing. I highly recommend these larger buttons to you, too.

Keep distractions off your opt-in pages. Take another look at my opt-in page. Do you see how clean it looks? There are no distractions to take attention away from the opt-in option. Of course, there are legal disclaimers at the bottom (right where I need them), but they are very subtle. And when you click on them, those legal notices open in small pop-up windows – after all, I want them on this page, not heading off in another direction.

While these tactics seem simplistic, they really work. Try them, and increase your opt-in page conversions today.

All about Leather

Leather is a byproduct manufacturered by tanning hides and skins of cows and other animals. The tanning process converts the leather into a durable material. Leather is a large industry with a very long history dating back to pre-history. Its used in the accessories industry, for example to produce leather portfolios. In the leather industry the materials are byproducts of the beef industry. Taxidermy also uses hides, but only the head and part of the back are used. Hides are used in glue and gelatin as well as forming the foundation for many leather products. There are many processes to transform the skin of an animal into a supple leather and then further into leather journals or other leather gifts. Chrome tanned leather is tanned using chromium. It is more durable, does not discolor or lose shape like vegetable tanned leather. More colors are possible using chrome tanning. Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned using tannin and other vegetable matter.

It is brown, with shades depending on the chemicals and the color of the hide. Vegetable-tanned leather tends to discolor when wet, and can shrink if wet and permitted to dry. Boiled leather is an application where the leather was hardened in hot water.. Boiled leather was used for armor and book bindings. Aldehyde tanned leather is tanned using various compounds. This is the leather tanners refer to as “wet white” leather due to its white color. Formaldehyde tanning is another method of aldehyde tanning which includes brain-tanned leathers, These leathers are water absorbent. Brain tanned leathers are made with oils. They are exceptionally soft and can be washed. Chamois leather is also tanned with aldehydes and, like brain tanning, is water absorbent leather. Chamois leather is made by using cod oil that oxidizes well to make the aldehydes which tan the leather. Synthetically tanned leather is tanned using polymers. This leather is white and was invented when tannins were in short supply. Alum-tanned leather is tanned using salts mixed with a variety of binders and proteins like flour and egg yolk. Light shades of leather are possible; but it produces a leather that is not as supple as vegetable-tanned leather.

Rawhide is made by scraping the skin thin, soaking it in lime, and then stretching it while it dries. Rawhide is stiff and brittle, and is primarily found in uses such as drums. Oil can be applied to vegetable tanned leather to provide water resistance which adds to the natural resistance to the oils found in the leather itself. Frequent oiling or a similar material keeps leather supple and lengthens lifespan. In general, leather is sold three ways, including, full grain leather, made from the finest materials, are clean natural hides which have not been corrected. The grain is in its natural state which permits fiber strength, and enhanced durability. The natural grain also has breathes better, making the leather more comfortable. It will develop a patina and actually acquire character over time.

The finest leather accessories and bifold wallets are made from Full-Grain leather. Full grain leathers are further divided into aniline and semi-aniline. Top grain leather, which has a corrected grain, is smooth on one side and fuzzy on the other. The natural grain needs to be corrected with an artificial grain. Top grain leather must be painted to cover up the sanding and stamping. Corrected grain leathers can be sold as semi-aniline and pigmented. Suede is leather where the natural grain is completely removed by splitting. During splitting the grain and split are separated. The drop split can be further split into a middle split or flesh split. In thick hides the middle split can be split multiple times until the split is no longer thick enough for splitting. The best suedes are usually made from grain splits. Suede is fuzzy on both sides but is less durable than top grain leather. Suede is also cheaper because from the same material used to make top grain leather, multiple pieces of suede can be produced. A reversed suede is grained leather designed into the leather product with the grain away from the surface. Patent leather is leather that with a high gloss finish.

Patent leather is typically coated in some type of plastic. Vachetta leather is used in the trimmings of briefcases and wallets. The leather is untreated and is easily stained. Sunlight will also darken the leather. Nubuck is top grain cattle hide which has been sanded on the grain side to leave a feel of short protein fibers which produces a velvet type surface. Specialty leather products, such as briefcases, wallets, and luggage all tend to utilize this type of leather. Belting leather is a full grain leather used in industrial machinery. It is often found in briefcases, portfolios, and wallets, is thick and firm with a smooth finish. Belting leather retains shape without a separate frame. Napa leather is soft and supple and is found in quality wallets, toiletry kits, and other personal leather goods. Bonded Leather is a man-made material made of scrap leather material. Bonded leather is not durable and is used for low-use applications.

How to Nuke Your Competition

I’ve titled this article How to Shatter Your Competition. I hope you’re not offended by the sensational title, but I wanted your attention.

Despite the title, I’m really not a cut-throat kind of guy. I know there is enough wealth and opportunities for everyone. I really want everyone to succeed. I just want YOU to do better! I know you can.

Most marketers find that it is a slug-fest to stay ahead of the competition, they struggle and struggle just to stay even with the competition, when, in reality, victory is only about 2mm away. Let me explain:

I went to a Tony Robbins event recently. You’ve probably heard of his events, where participants walk barefoot over hot coals. Well, it changed my life. Now, I’m not trying to brag about walking on fire (well, I want to brag a little bit, you must admit, walking on fire is a pretty amazing thing to do!). I bring it up to mention one of the most important lessons I learned from Tony – there is only 2 mm of difference between being good (or even excellent) and being absolutely outstanding.

For example, if you are navigating an aircraft, and you start 2mm off course, over time, you could end up miles away from your destination and miss it altogether!

Tony gave other examples, too. Consider the world-class plastic surgeon, a master of his craft. Considering all the documentation from all the operations he has conducted, he finds that most surgeries only need 2 mm of change or less to create a dramatic improvement in a patient’s facial features.

So how can this help your business? Well, the difference between simply keeping up with the competition and leaving them in the dust is only about 2 mm. This is a metaphor, but it does show that you only need a small effort to make a huge difference.

If you can beat your competition by only 2 mm, you will win. Find out what categories matter to your customers, and make those changes. You’ll be glad that you did.

Here are 5 “2mm Differences” That Matter. If you will pick just three of these and excel at those three, you will slaughter your competition:

1. Look and Feel. By improving the look and feel of your website, you will gain an initial edge over your competition.

2. Follow-up Marketing. This makes a big impact on your customers. It makes them feel like they matter to you.

3. Tracking and Testing. Keep track of what works and what doesn’t. Whether your client knows about this or not, it will make a big difference. This will help you find the language that grabs their attention and gets them sales.

4. Create Adwords Campaigns. This area is often neglected by online marketers – I’ve even been guilty of this myself! If you become just 2 mm better in this area, combined with two other areas, you will shatter the competition.

5. Backend Sales. Find ways to keep your customers coming back for more, even after the initial sale. Your customers do not want to feel as if they are being “sold to”, but they sure love “buying from”! Finding new ways to provide products or services will keep them coming back for more.

Of course, these aren’t the only 5 categories for improvement – you could come up with many more – but I would encourage you to pick three of these categories and improve them by “2mm”. See if it doesn’t give you a boost over your competition.
