A Brief History of the Apple iPhone

by Bobby Roberts

To attract a following with a substantial crowd Apple iPhones have always produced top of the range products for the consumer. Even before the Apple iPhone was released in 2007 people were guessing its features, about its functions and specifications generally. It is no surprise when the Apple iPhone was released that it emphasizes a iPod with a revolutionary mobile phone with three in one product with an internet device.

When it first came out

The visible or at least documented history of the Apple iPhone starts with the instruction of Steve Jobbs, CEO of Apple for engineers to start researching touch screens, at that time, most probably still having the development of Apple tablet PCs in mind. However, already in April 2003, he declared in a conference that the development of traditional PDAs or tablet PCs was not the way ahead for Apple.

In January of 2007 Apple announced at a conference their new product, perhaps not surprising when new inventions lie in the sphere of cell phones, and thus, technologies, connected to them. In June of 2007 at the MacWorld Expo Apple announced the release of their Apple iPhone that will handle third party Web applications. Users will be able to access the internet on their iPhones.

Launch and future Upgrades

Apple iPhone eventually went on sale June 29, 2007, in the United States, hundreds of people reportedly lining up in front of the shops to be able to grab the new Apple iPhone as soon as possible. The iPhone was originally released in two variations, one, with a flash drive of 4 GB for $499 and the 8 GB version for $599, though the sales of the 8 GB far outnumbering that of the other one, which was eventually discontinued.

Moreover, as a further development, the price is radically reduced by $200 as soon as September, for which Apple was quite widely attacked as this pricing and the sudden drop is believed to be unfair. The popularity of the Apple iPhone in the beginnings is by no means as great as expected.

For example, the sales for the first weekend were initially estimated to be somewhere between 200,000 and 700,000 products. But just roughly 145,000 activations were registered for the first weekend.

There was also extensive media exposure of a 300-page bill, after which AT&T makes a transformation in its billing practice. Also when the new Apple iPhone was original out the only contracts accessible to the applicant was a 2 year subscription with AT&T, this offer was inappropriate for everybody.

In Europe the Apple iPhone was launched at the end of 2007, United Kingdom, France, Germany all presented the iPhone with problems and difficulties as it only offered its customers the Apple iPhone through the one supplier.

Niche Marketing for Bigger Profits

by Ray Edwards

Today’s topic is: How to tap the profit power of niche marketing.

A lot of people think the time for profiting from niche marketing is over. Frank Kern and Ed Dale certainly popularized this approach with their “Underachiever” course. Since that course is no longer available, many wrongly assume that niche marketing no longer works.

Nothing could be further from the truth! Niche marketing still works and you can still make A LOT of money doing it. In fact, I have a friend who has some niche websites in obscure markets that make him about $8000 a month, and his business is growing every month because he uses the principles of good marketing. Basic things you can learn from various Internet marketing teachers.

I have another friend, Dr. Andrew Jones, who started as a client, then a coaching student and now a friend. He started with a little $27 e-book in a niche market, and has grown it into a $15,000/month business. And it’s still growing!

Want to know how it works? Through my coaching program, I can teach you how you can draw on niche markets. There are still spaces available for the next course. Visit this site at www.rayedwards.com/letmein, 5k In 30 Days, for more information. I can’t wait to see you there!

I didn’t write this article to sell you my coaching program. I want to sell you an idea – that niche marketing works, and can help you cash in. I’m offering you five simple steps to build your niche, quickly and easily. Of course, this is a broad overview of a complex topic, but these simple steps can get you on your way without spending any money or undertaking a long study of marketing. You’ll have to put some work into it, but you already knew that, right? Too bad you can’t just push a button and have money spit out of your CD-ROM.

Here are those 5 steps:

Locate a product. I say “locate”, not “create”, because a lot of people are intimidated by product creation (even though product creation is the easiest thing in the world to do!). The easiest thing that you can do is locate products by finding private label rights packages that give you the right to re-publish product that has already been created. Now, you may think that these products are not worth your time, because everyone’s already seen them, or they don’t work, or, or, or The startling truth is that while many people are on private label rights sites, very few actually use those products. So, if you do a good job re-packaging the product, change the title, change the graphics, and you can have a ready-made product in a very short time. I promise you can do this in less than an hour. Just pick one, don’t look for the perfect one! Less than an hour!

Make your sales page and testing software. Most of these private label rights packages contain a pre-written sales page template. It’s a great place to start, though you don’t want to use it forever. Once you have created a sales page, you can test it with the Website Optimizer from Google. You can then tweak the sales letter to improve sales.

Link payment pages to Paypal or Clickbank. These sites provide payment services for a small fee. This is a great way to avoid the hassle of setting up credit card payments on your site.

Drive traffic to your site with Adwords. Go to Google and set up an Adwords account. Their tutorials are great, and will guide you through the process.

Repeat!

Ready for one last piece of advice? “How to make money online” is NOT a good niche market to start with. It is a good market, but very competitive. Instead, start with a less-competitive market. Your competition will be less sophisticated, and you will be able to earn as you learn.

Streetwear Clothing Style

by Matt Dronkers

In the past clothing style was adopted according to the standard of the time. Today it has changed a lot and one has multiple choice of fashion in garments. Fashion changes as the time goes by and it gives a way to emerging a different style of clothing known as streetwear.

What does the ‘term’ streetwear mean? It is a kind of clothing style generally inspired by its surrounding lifestyle of the street. It deals with the urban themes like graffiti and encodes the culture of such surroundings into clothing fashion. Most importantly, it gives clothing a high quality.

The germ of streetwear clothing style lies in distant past something around 1980s. A movement called punk was very much popular at that time which gave the way to hip-hop culture. For this reason both of them have similarities.

Shawn Stussy was the inspirational name behind streetwear. He worked as a local surfboard shaper of Laguna Beach in California. He used his own logo for his surfboard designs and after that for the very first time he printed his logo on t-shirts. From that time onwards, streetwear genre has gone under a sea-change.

What is remarkable for hip-hop culture is its being self-expressive in nature. Streetwear, like hip-hop, seeks to have expression of its own concepts. Clothing designers express their feelings in terms of designs they draw for garments. So it is designers’ expression, but it becomes the expressions of those who wear them too.

Streetwear style of clothing has become the part of the fashion of today. It inspires the designers of today but very few could achieve the quality streetwear offers. Some items like sunglasses, bags are available in high quality.

Streetwear comprises the mixture of both modern as well as traditional outlook. One can either wear traditional suit today or can wear t-shirt the next day or can have alternative. That is why streetwear has been termed as another name for fashion.

Turbo-Charge Your Product Launch

by Ray Edwards

Many marketers wonder if product launches still work. We all know the techniques, we all see it coming. Could this formula still work? Why do a product launch, anyway?

Using product launches is a great strategy, one that works as well as ever. However, the “standard” product launches aren’t producing the same results that they did a year ago.

The fact is the low-hanging fruit has all been picked. To make a product launch work now, you need to study the techniques and follow the steps. If you do, the formula (created by Jeff Walker) works beautifully!

Have you heard about the Membership Site Boot Camp launch? Jeff coordinated that launch, and I wrote the copy. In the first week, that launch created $1.7 million in the first week alone! Product launches can still make windfall profits.

I would encourage you to study the original Product Launch Formula at www.TheProductLaunchFormula.com. Even if you don’t intend to buy Jeff’s course, he gives away great content at his site. Don’t miss it.

These three tactics can help you boost your launch results:

Try a “reverse squeeze page”. In essence, you give away free content before you ask for their opt-in information. You show readers your best information up front. At the end, tell clients, “We are creating more of this great content. If you want to get more absolutely free, send us your name and e-mail. We’ll make sure you get it!” Essentially, you give before you get.

Give them your best material up front, for free. No, I’m not crazy. When I suggest this, the most common response is, “But if I give them my best stuff for free, there won’t be anything to sell them!” In fact, this is not a problem. The great copywriter Eugene Schwartz, author of Breakthrough Advertising, pioneered this method, and it works! He found that when you gave away something terrific, people’s perceived value of your other products increases. Readers think, “WOW! If this is what they give away for free, their other stuff must be incredible!” So what happens if they get into your site and find that your product isn’t as good as the stuff you gave away free? That’s when you benefit from the “Halo Effect”. People will be amazed by your great freebies, and so credit your saleable material as being better than it may actually be. It takes no manipulation on your part.

Offer a strong personal story to your sublist. Don’t e-mail them on Friday to tell them that you will sell them something on Monday. Instead, make it a story. Offer personal tidbits of information or insights into the progress of your product launch. Show them your e-mails and feedback from other clients. Take them to blog posts. Do all the things that Jeff Walker teaches.

I definitely think you should get The Product Launch Formula, but also take these three tips I’ve given you and put them to work in your next product launch or mini-launch, and see if it doesn’t improve your conversions.

Just Plain Talk – Copywriting Without Hype

by Ray Edwards

Have you seen all the hype lately? Online copy is filled with hype which frankly doesn’t work. It turns off the readers, the clients, even other copywriters! Despite these problems, copywriters still churn out hype-filled copy (I admit, I’ve been guilty myself on more than one occasion!). How do we avoid writing hype-laden copy?

For a great resource on fine-tuning your copy for maximum impact, check out this site: http://thecopydoctoronline.com – The Copy Doctor.

Follow these three simple steps to get the hype out of your copy:

Talk about the reader’s pain. The pain you’re trying to relieve, through your product or service, is the focal point of your reader’s awareness. Write about their pain, focus on it, and use language that lets the reader know you empathize with their pain, you understand it, and that you possibly have a solution to it. That will result in your copy not sounding hype-y, even if it makes extraordinary claims. Your reader won’t necessarily perceive extraordinary claims as hype, if the copy is relevant to their life and their problems. Focusing on their pain is one of the ways you allow that perception to grow.

Tell relevant stories. Don’t just make your copy academic facts and hyperbole about your product or service. Tell stories. Have you noticed how politicians always have a story to tell? They may be asked a pointed question about how they voted on a particular issue, and they often respond with something like, “Well, you know, I’m glad you asked that question. Just the other day, I was talking with Agnes Mooreson, who is an 83-year-old widow living on Social Security, and she told me” Then they launch into a story that’s relevant to the point. We know they rehearsed it! We know they were waiting for this question and had this story prepared! But it’s very disarming, because it draws you into the story (whether you’re willing to be drawn in or not) and takes a lot of the air out of the argument against their position.

Value detail, not description! Sprinkling your copy with handfuls of descriptive adverbs and adjectives doesn’t make your copy look better – instead, your copy looks like hype. What’s the difference? Consider the following two examples. First, “We have the best doctors in the industry. They give exemplary care!” Now contrast this with another example: “Our head surgeon, Dr. Bob Smith, is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. Over the past ten years, he has reduced patient mortality by 40%, while still providing world-class care”. Which one of these would you prefer for your next doctor? Notice how the first example is full of hype, while the second example contains simple facts and details about Dr. Smith’s education and accomplishment, without all the hype. Isn’t that better?

Stamp Out Writer’s Block

by Ray Edwards

Up front, I have to say one thing: I don’t think Writer’s Block exists. It is a fantasy that we have made up, a mythical fairy tale. In the real world, you are either “writing” or “not writing”.

After all, have you ever heard of a pilot boarding a plane and telling the passengers and crew, “We’re not going to be flying today, because I’m suffering a terrible case of Pilot’s Block”? Of course not. It’s the same for writers. It just may be that you just don’t feel like writing today.

Writer’s block is really only a resistance to writing. Today, I’ll recommend a great resource. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is a highly-recommended and very powerful book that can help you break through the myths of writer’s block.

What are some practical tips you can use to break through that resistance, get past Writers Block and get writing?

Use these three tips to break through writer’s block:

Just write SOMETHING. It doesn’t matter what. Write a grocery list, scribble a note to your mom, even fill out a card for a friend. No, I’m not kidding. Write anything, but just write. If you just write something, the simple act of writing can often cut through writer’s block.

Tony Robbins offers three tips to help change your emotional state from nervous to relaxed and confident – pay attention to your focus, your physiology, and your language.

Focus is what you pay attention to. You can choose to focus on your writer’s block, but that rarely makes it go away – in fact, it can make your writer’s block worse than before. Pay attention to something else for a while. Try focusing on something positive, like how great you feel. Focus on the notes for your current project. Even if you aren’t writing, you can still read them.

Physiology – How you use your body. I promise you, if you sit at your computer, slumped over, eyes down, with your chin in your hands, you’re not going to be in the most resourceful state to write. So sit up straight, take some deep breaths, clap your hands together, poise your fingers over the keyboard and get ready to fire off some copywriting brilliance. I know that sounds corny, but try it!

The language you use in your head affects how you feel about a situation. Most people think that is backwards, but it’s not. Perhaps the dialogue inside your head goes something like this: “I’ve got writer’s block, so I must be lazy. I just don’t have the discipline to write, and this proves how lazy and bad I am”. STOP! Torturing yourself never helps. You must change your language, the words you use in your self-talk. What you are experiencing is resistance to writing, and that resistance comes from many sources. Use the tips in this article to help end that resistance and get writing again.

Write about why you’re not writing. Get out your journal, or a legal pad, or your computer and start journaling about why you are not writing. Maybe you didn’t get enough sleep, maybe you had an argument with your significant other…it doesn’t matter. Just start writing about why you’re not writing. In my experience, once you get those thoughts out on paper, you realize how ridiculous they are, you start to laugh, and you find that Writer’s Block is gone.

Can these tips really help? Yes, they can! You see, in my opinion, there really is no such thing as writer’s block. Use these tips to stamp it out for good.

Boost Conversions by Reading Books

by Ray Edwards

If you want to make a quick boost in the results your copy brings home, take a look at some of the better books on the subject of copywriting, and marketing in general. Some of the very best learning you can do about writing copy comes from inexpensive books on the subject – and even books off the subject.

Great writers improve their writing by reading books. This is a great way to improve your skills in the copywriting field, too. Today, I’ll offer you a few suggestions for books that will quickly boost your copywriting results.

Of the four books that I recommend, three are on copywriting. The fourth is off-topic, but still offers valuable advice on selling your product or service.

My first recommendation is The Robert Collier Letter Book, by Robert Collier. This book has become a classic in the copywriting and marketing industry. Collier himself wrote many of the ads in the book. While the language is somewhat antiquated, giving an old-fashioned feel, the basic principles of the book still stand the test of time.

John E. Kennedy’s Reason Why Advertising is a fantastic book. It is harder to find than the others. At the end of this article, I will provide you with resources to find books like this.

My fourth recommendation is off-topic, but still relevant. While it isn’t about copywriting, it is about selling. You can enjoy this book at any time – in a house, with a mouse, or with a fox in a box! Check out Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss.

You may be surprised to learn that Green Eggs and Ham can teach you persistence when making your sales. Learn how to come to an agreement with your potential clients so they become paying customers. It may seem silly, but you can learn important marketing lessons from Dr. Seuss.

As promised, here is a great way to find all those books. Bret Ridgeway of Speaker Fulfillment Services specializes in finding hard-to-find books on copywriting and marketing. Find what you need at his website at www.SFSBookstore.com.

One of the best investments you can make in your business is information. The books I have recommended will be a valuable addition to any marketing and copywriting library. They won’t cost a fortune, and the money you invest will provide you with great returns. They are truly valuable to improve your copywriting skills.

Re-Mortgage your Home or Get a Secured Loan?

by Russell Marsh

It’s been a sad fact that application fees on fixed rate mortgage deals have more or less doubled in the last 12 months according to current research.

Fees for the best two year fixed deals around have increased in the last year from 995 on average to 1,400 over the past year. The cost of three year deals has also gone up from an average of 580 to nearly 1,150.

If you go back to last October when the base rate was 5.75% the average two year fixed deal was at 5.68%. The base rate is now 5% but the 2 year rate is still 5.57%. Three year fixed rate deals are also more expensive compared to the base rate. They have gone down from 5.84% to 5.65% in the same period.

All the recent publicity recently about the credit crunch and the bank’s fluidity problems has stoked the near panic in people and they are tempted to grab the best percentage rate deal they can find. The problem is that very often they overlook the fees which when added to the 2 or 3 year deal make the mortgage a lot more expensive than it first seems.

The large increase in application fees means that they now form a much more significant portion of the cost of the loan and really need to be considered just as importantly as the actual interest rate, especially in a relatively short term mortgage deal.

There are still many good deals out there for people with substantial deposits or equity in their home and strong credit ratings. Unfortunately many people will not be eligible for them as lenders are increasingly taking a tougher line.

Recent changes to the Consumer Credit Act and also the tightening of the financial markets which have restructured mortgage fees mean that possibly brokers and intermediaries should be pointing their clients towards a secured loan as it could be a much cheaper option than re-mortgaging the family home.

These new changes changes to the act mean that all secured loans for residential purposes of any size come under the Consumer Credit Act and therefore every loan has to have a cooling off period, so the client is not pressured and an important factor is that early repayment charges are a maximum of two months interest depending when in the current month they notify the lender. When you add in that there are no upfront fees in the shape of application fees, booking fees and valuation and conveyancing costs then it’s pretty easy to work out that on a direct comparison secured loans work out to be better value for clients.

If your mortgage deal has some time to run and you’re tied in but you want to raise some capital or consolidate some other debts then looking at a secured loan could be a better option than a re-mortgage.You now have the added protection of the Consumer Credit Act, a lack of upfront fees to enjoy and of course much smaller early repayment charges and you’ve no need to contend with the ERPs on your current mortgage deal.
