How to Get Rid of Email SPAM

by Dark Sith

Junk email, better known as spam, is the number one annoyance you may get through your email account. Oftentimes, even if your email provider has anti-spam measures in place, a lot of it still makes it into your mailbox. You end up spending minutes everyday just figuring out which among the messages you received are real and which of them deserve junking.

There is no single way to stop spam, nor is any email account bullet-proof from it. Spammers will always be there, and it’ll just be a matter of time before a new email account gets bombarded with it. The most effective way to get rid of spam is to make spammers’ tasks in obtaining your email address difficult. Here is how to effectively get rid of spam, or at least reduce the chances of getting it.

Do you ever wonder how spam gets into your mailbox? Well, a lot of spammers use “bruteforce” or send a huge volume of their spam to random email addresses. Most of these spammers send mail using lists of accounts gathered from the Internet. The majority of the spam you get come from the websites where you use your email address as your means of identity. These may include sites or services that you’ve previously visited or signed up for. You may also have posted your email address on blogs and forums.

Make it Difficult

To make your email address hard to find, you must avoid posting your email on free-to-access websites. If you really need to post your address though, disguise it. For example, if your email is “johnsmith@smith.com”, write it out as “john smith [at] smith [dot] com”. A person who reads this disguised version will still be able to understand it, but automatic programs that spammers use to harvest emails will not be able to detect it.

Dupe it

Most services on the Internet, especially free ones, require that you provide an email address as a means of identification or contact line to inform you about certain matters. You can’t tell if that website sells their email list to spammers or not, despite claims of having secure “privacy policies” and the sort, so it is better to use a “disposable” email address.

It is common to have more than one email address today, so simply make an extra one and use it when signing up for services. Avoid using your work or personal email address. Create a new email account using free email providers like Gmail, Yahoo!, or Hotmail. When have a separate account, if ever it gets bombarded with spam, it is a different account, and you won’t get annoyed deleting it from your main email. When you feel you don’t need it anymore, you can either leave it alone or deactivate it. You don’t even need to bother checking this email account for new messages, since you only provide the address to websites and forums as a log-in, and not to your friends or work contacts.

Mind the Fine Print and Check Boxes

To further minimize spam in your email, make sure to read the fine print. Oftentimes, you unknowingly consent to spam being sent to you because you didn’t read the policy of the services you sign up for. You will know when there is a possibility you will be receiving spam if you read something about third-parties being provided with your personal information (such as email address) to offer you promos or newsletters. If you do read anything of this nature, think twice. You can either continue and sign up for the service or search the net for a different site that provides the same service. (If you do sign up, you may want to use your disposable address.)

Often, you do not need to find a different site just to avoid spam. You can usually opt out of those “promos” or “free offers” by unchecking those check boxes that are checked by default. These check boxes are usually small or hidden. In the end, read through the policy, no matter how long and technical it may seem, and be careful of those check boxes – don’t just check anything or everything.

The Spam Trap

No matter how careful you are, and how sophisticated anti-spam measures are, spam may somehow still find its way into your email. The best thing is to select all of those junk messages and dump them directly into your trash folder. As a general rule, never open or even REPLY to spam messages. Doing that may scream to the spammer that your email account is real, therefore triggering more spam to be sent to you. It is better to be safe – if you don’t know the sender, then it probably is spam.

Signs that an Email is Indeed Spam

You do not have to open a message to determine if it is spam. Usually, you can easily tell it is just by looking at the subject of the message. Here are some of common signs that you should look out for:

* The word “Free” is there.

* It says you’ve won something (money, gadgets, etc.), even if you don’t remember signing up for a promo.

* It contains something to do with sex, prescription drugs, or jewelry.

* Bad grammar or spelling.

* Weird characters or letters.

* Job offers.

* Discount or wholesale items being sold.

The Dangers of Spam

You may think that spam is but a simple marketing attempt to sell you something, but spam can actually be dangerous. A seemingly harmless message may contain malware: either a virus, a trojan, or spyware that can put you and your data at risk.

Most modern viruses spread through email through an attachment. Once activated, it can steal sensitive information from your computer and use your computer to spread more viruses. Spyware can track your activities online, like the websites you visit, the bank accounts you access, and a lot more.

A newer threat that is also used in spam is phishing. Phishing is a method where a spammer designs a message to appear as a authentic-looking one, pretending to be from a bank, an online shopping site, or money transfer services. It aims to steal log-on information and other personal details by exploiting the computer system, usually through XSS or cross-site scripting to make it look authentic.

Spam today is not only an annoyance, but it also carries potentially harmful elements. Common sense and the use of anti-spam measures will not only lessen the junk in your mailbox, but also protect your privacy on the Internet.

Domain Name and Website Names: How To

by Jason Klein- NPSIS.com

Most NICs or Network Interface Cards within servers and computers are assigned a unique address known as Internet Protocol or IP address. An IPv4 ip address is a 32-bit numeric address written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number can be zero to 255. An ip address for a dedicated server using NAT (Network Address Translation) or your business computer would look similar to this 192.168.20.34 You can find out what your ip address is by typing ipconfig at the command prompt (Start, Run, ipconfig) on a Windows Server and by typing ifconfig on a Linux Server. You can type this command on your home Windows or Linux or Unix computer as well to find your static dedicated ip address.

When you lookup websites online, your web browser talks to web servers via their IP address. Advances in technology have made it possible to assign words or hostnames to ip addresses. PC’s use operating systems like windows or linux operating systems. These operating systems use something called a host file to translate the words into IP addresses. On a Windows computer the host file is stored in the c:\windows\system32\drives\etc\ directory; on Linux and Unix servers the host file is kept in the /etc directory.

Have you ever been to 1313 S Harbor Blvd in Anaheim California? Do you know what is at that address? If I had said “Have you ever been to Disney Land?” chances are that you would have immediately known what I was talking about. 131 S Harbor Blvd, Anaheim, California 92802 is the equivalent of an IP address, and Disney Land is the equivalent of a hostname. Website hosting is the equivalent of the land where Disney Land sits. So if you register a website address and get the name, you must also rent or purchase internet real estate or server space for your website to reside on. Likewise if you obtain website hosting but don’t register a website address, no one will know how to get to your website.

If you wanted your computer to look for www.npsis.com using the ip address 192.168.20.34, you would make an entry in your hostfile. The hostfile contains entries that look like this: 192.168.20.34 www.npsis.com. When you access the website www.npsis.com using your web browser, your computer would look for the ip address 192.168.65.14.

For hostname to IP translation on the internet the DNS (Domain Name System) is commonly used. When you type www.npsis.com or the name of your website design store or the website name of your company, your computer contacts a DNS server to find out what IP address goes with the domain name or URL that you entered. Whether you are setting up website on a webserver or an email server you need a domain name.

If you are selecting a domain name or website name for your business it is to your advantage to select a domain name that is easy to remember and if possible reflects what your business or service is (ex. tomsgarage.com). You can also register multiple domain names and have your website design store optimize your web pages for those keywords. Then you can have multiple domain names point to your web site. So you could have tomsgarage.com, bestlocalgarage.com, and wefixcars.com all point to your website.

Domain names are typically done on a first come, first serve basis so if you have an idea for a good name you should register it before it is taken by someone else. There are many people and businesses who register and buy the most desirable domain names and resell them; this is usually for a higher cost than the original purchase price.

Have you hired a web design store or individual web design consultant? Make absolutely sure that you own your website address and not them. By purchasing your domain name yourself, you protect yourself from negligent people and predators looking to take advantage of the fact that you might not know better.

Do You Need a Pocket PC?

by Michael Erikson

Have you ever missed a meeting or some other important appointment, or maybe you needed access to some important document while you were traveling. Then you know how frustrating it can be.

You need something that is portable, but allows you to keep track of your schedule and important events. New phones have many of these capabilities, but you may need something more for your particular lifestyle. You need to check out a pocket PC. It’s sleek, has handy gadgets and software programs.

The pocket PC has come a long way since its humble beginnings. This device started out as a calculator sized computer that had very limited and basic functions. Later models added the ability to see one line of text. Today’s models are much more advanced. You can keep track of important appointments, browse the internet, organize your files and even play games and listen to music.

The pocket PC is by a more general term also referred to as a PDA or Personal Digital Assistant. The previous versions ran on Windows Mobile 5, but have since upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. Windows Mobile 5 was a great relief to PDA owners.

When the version 6 came with even more advanced functionality, that e.g enabled the handheld device to work as a phone, also known as Smartphone. On top of that it added more disk space. The PDA was working like a full fledged mini-PC. And to eliminate the risk of losing data when the battery ran dead, Windows Mobile 5 started to use a flash memory to store information.

The Windows mobile Smartphone is a combination of the cell phone and the personal digital assistant. The PC software is there in the cell phone so it can be used as a personal computer when on the go. It was this evolution of the cell phone that had many companies altering their selling tactics. Most companies elected not to pursue the pocket PC, since Smartphones were becoming more of a mainstream choice.

If you find yourself constantly on the go, then a pocket PC is exactly what you need. The new lines of models include Smartphones, which have the latest PC software, along with the speed and processing ability that you need to schedule your appointments, send and receive emails, text message and make calls.

Even if you already have a cell phone, the PDA can still be used for its scheduling capabilities; however, once you have fully mastered the PDA, you’ll never want to go back to a paper planner again.

Liberty League International – The Truth Part 2

by Tom Culbertson

So in part one we focused on the compensations plans and the costs involved with the plans offered by Liberty League. In Part two we’re going to talk about whether or not these or good things or bad things and then you can decide if Liberty League International is right for you.

If you’re going to make the big money at Liberty League International then you’re going to have to first spend a lot of money. If you decide to purchase all three personal development products then you can plan on spending around $30,000 in your first six months with the company. This amount also include some basic costs associated with marketing your website.

One point I failed to mention here is that Liberty League charges all the members for the conference calls. They realized how important it is to get people on the calls and that if you didn’t you probably wouldn’t get anyone to join the company. So LLI has decided to charge you $100.00 every three months just to be able to use the calls. Many programs offer their conference calls for free and they should otherwise there closing the door to many people who will not have the chance to get on one of the calls.

Once you buy all three products you are now ready to make the big money with LLI. The hard part now will be the ability to convince people to pay you tens of thousands of dollars, especially when they know that they will have to pass up many more sales to you before they can make money themselves. This included with the fact that most people simply don’t have $30,000 laying around makes things much harder.

To be one of the top sponsors in Liberty League you have to become a great sales person and plan on spending a lot of time on the phone with you’re prospects. You also have to know how to market yourself very well using multiple landing pages and many forms of online marketing.

With any network marketing business you have to help and mentor the people you bring into the business. LLI and the way their pass-up program is set up once you’ve paid your sponsor for all three personal development products and have fully qualified to make sales on your own you will break away from you’re sponsor and she/he will have no desire to help you succeed in the company because they can no longer make any money off of you. You will be put on your own island I like to say and be left competing against everyone else in the company.

Another important thing to know about Liberty League International is that even though they will give you some marketing training, you will not be given much. In the back office of your Liberty League website you will find only a page or two of marketing methods mentioned and they are pretty basic. LLI does have a conference call for it’s members where they go over some methods but once again they only give you a couple basic methods on how to market. They actually spend the majority of the call trying to convince you to buy the very expensive conference tickets. Who’s selling who now?

So here’s my personal opinion. Unless you have a lot of money and are willing to put in a lot of time waiting until the money starts to go in your bank account and not your sponsors than I would not recommend joining Liberty League. The costs are too high, the compensation plan is flawed, and the marketing training they provide is very insufficient for what people are going to need to know if they plan on making a fortune with internet marketing.

One more thing I wanted you to know about here is that Liberty League claims not to be a MLM company but indeed they are. An MLM company usually has three or more levels and with each level a different pay-out is given. Liberty League meets the definition of an MLM company perfectly. Also coupled with the fact that they also have a pass-up program where you have to give your sales to your sponsor makes things even worse. I asked my sponsor what to tell people that ask if this is an MLM and she got very mad that I even asked the question and told be to tell them its not. Not a very good answer huh?

What’s good about Liberty League is that they did introduce me to what’s known as personal development. This has really helped me in achieving my goals and being focused on the most important things. The most important thing is you and your own personal development. There’s a phrase I love to use that I picked up from an audio I listened to. Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job you will make a living. If you work hard on yourself you will make a fortune. These are truly words to live by.

Thinking to yourself there must be a better way?

by John Wallen

Have you ever thought to yourself, there has to be a better way then this? Well sure you have, everyone does sooner or later. The part of that question where most of us get stuck is, what is that better way. Most of us don’t have the kind of money or the time it takes to start a business. Even if we knew what it was we thought we could be doing.

I don’t even think about what it is I could get into when it comes to a business anymore. About four years ago I started keeping an eye on the internet to see what people were doing. It’s is amazing what people can do when they put their minds to it, in this new age. I started to see things differently and those closed minded notions I grew up with, were going away.

I found it helpful it helpful that a friend of mine was doing the same thing, surfing the web for opportunity. We would ask each others opinions about certain websites, and we were learning what was real and what was a scheme. Those dead opportunities that are a waste of time, here today, gone tomorrow!

I was definitely putting in some time on the web, and I was getting some pretty good feed back on what people were doing. There are so many empty biz-ops, you really have to be careful. It totally amazes me what people want you to buy into! Most of these dead end, so called businesses won’t be around in four or five months.

What we were seeing most of the time was no product worth marketing if any, and no training on the best ways to get traffic to your website. Everything might look like it’s put together well, but leaves you in the dust. You don’t want to rely on anyone but yourself to get your website seen. You want an opportunity were their members or the owners themselves teach you these skills.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about, I use a separate email address where I have information sent about possible business opportunities. This person sends me some details with a link to a website, the offer on the website went like this. For only twenty dollars I can use this website and the ebooks that come with it. Now this sounds like a good deal.

If I joined this so called business, I would make twenty dollars doing the same thing this person was doing. But I’m not going to sell a scheme, the ebooks are outdated with information on marketing I would never use my self. Sure, because I know what I’m doing, I could maybe turn ten or more of these a day! I’ve seen things like this before as high as a hundred fifty dollars, and that’s fine. But I don’t want to deceive anyone with useless garbage.

You want a company that’s been around for a while, always updating their products. You want an opportunity that has live weekly internet training, with an online back office with more training archives and the best marketing tools. You want a business that has the potential to earn you thousands each month, paid directly to your bank account. You want to make at least seventy five percent commission, and I actually do better than that!

When Benefits Of Payday Loans Outweigh Costs

by Chris Channing

The payday loan has long been associated with poor financial decisions. After all, the high interest rates can give any consumer a “cycle of debt” that can last for months or years. But when used correctly, the payday loan has a few profound benefits that are often unnoticed because of the nature of the loans.

The best thing about payday loans is there is often no credit check. This gives many underprivileged individuals access to money without having a pristine track record in finances. This is important when money is needed fast- such as to obtain a pawned item back or to make a utility bill payment in order to live a healthy lifestyle. Whatever the case, the quickness of a payday loan is a big benefit.

Other benefits of the loan include the fact that payday loans are rather secretive in nature. Compared to banks that are first to report any late payments, payday loan institutions will commonly not report to credit companies of any late payments. While this is average, exceptions are made and one can still hurt their financial history more if proper responsibility is not observed.

Payday loans will usually have a set payback rate, regardless of when or where repayment is conducted. As long as the payment is on time, consumers will usually pay a set rate no matter how early payment is performed. This is excellent for consumers who wish to pay back debts early, but can’t with regular banks. Normal banks will fine those who pay debts off early because they make money off extended interest rates- quite an annoying prospect indeed.

No one else needs to be involved with the loan process of a payday loan. Normal loans will usually require someone be present to sign responsibility for the loan should the one obtaining the loan default. This level of security normal banks use helps protect their investment, and is almost always required. But payday loans don’t require anyone else, and thus, is a better option for those who aren’t able to have reliable resources to sign for them.

Lastly, payday loans can very simply be used when there is no other place to turn to. This is often a poor choice because of the high interest rates, but when there are no other options payday loans are always available. Of course many payday loans will require some sort of commitment or proof of finances, but even with menial financial income a payday loan can be obtained- putting it into the reach of the poor young and old alike.

In Conclusion

There is always a solution for those who are in need of financial help. If payday loans seem appealing to those who need it, always be sure that all rules, interest rates, and guidelines are reviewed before signing on the dotted line. This will ensure the best chances at repaying a loan, and give the consumer the best chance at staying out of debt. And as far as debt goes, no one likes to go through the process. Talk to a financial consultant to find out more if payday loans are right for you.

Automotive sales training guide to using humor for selling cars

by Mak

A small but true story on using humor with your customers…

I have a friend that’s a salesperson in the car business. Now, he is extremely good at what he does. He is very good at following the basics, a great closer, following up, prospecting etc. But one of his strong points is making people laugh.

On every Saturday, when the show room is jam packed with customers, he would walk out of his cubicle, put on these silly glasses with the moustache and big nose, and start this hilarious speech in front of every one. Trust me he was a great public speaker. It’s true that it’s a gimmick, but guess what? It works! So, there is no reason for you not to get creative and do silly things to make your customers laugh and build rapport. Just remember to be humorous and not rude.

Now I’m not saying for you to turn into a stand up comedian like my friend, but all I’m saying is if you have a great sense of humor, use that to your advantage. In my experience selling, I have noticed that superstar salespeople in this business are ones that work smart, follow a plan and has a great sense of humor. All superstar salespeople are very likeable and they spend a lot of time, effort and money on educating themselves to get even better. But the ones that think there is no room for improvement, those are the ones that never grows. Learn to make a friend before you sell them something. Making a friend is the same thing as building rapport.

Be aware of getting caught up while building rapport

Doesn’t it feel good when you sell a vehicle and have a happy customer because you made a friend? Well then you need to build a lot of rapport. But remember your main objective, and that’s to sell a car. So try not to get emotionally involved with the customer. There is a big difference between getting emotionally involved and building rapport. Avoid believing everything that the customer tells you. If you start to sympathize for the customer then you’ll have a tough time closing the deal.

Think about this; if you’re emotionally involved, how will you present your deals to your managers? All you’ll end up doing is sympathizing for your customer. If you approach the sale this way it will weigh your judgment and affect your selling ability.

Empathizing with the customer is the way to go. Everyone of your customer is buying a very expensive product when they buy a car. So yes it is good to understand their feelings. If you understand them then it will become easy for you to gain their trust. But don’t loose track of the sale by sympathizing. Rather empathize, make a friend and sell the vehicle properly.

A Guide To Commemorative Coins

by Chris Channing

A commemorative coin is, simply put, and type of currency that celebrates a special event. This might be a nation’s anniversary, a war, science achievements, or other types of occasions that merit mentioning in currency. Investors should, however, not that there are differences in commemorative coins that can make them more or less valuable as an investment.

Legal tender is anything that can be legally used to buy a product or service. Many commemorative coins will not be legal tender, since they are rather best suited for display and collecting. But there are instances in which some types of commemorative coins can be used as legal tender, although investors should not do so as most commemorative coins have lower face value than actual worth.

Those coins in which are approved for legal tender are usually much less valuable. Legal tender is usually mass produced- meaning they won’t normally include previous metals or other materials that would otherwise make them valuable. Instead, commemorative coins that act as legal tender are more for attracting attention to something, creating a sense of community or history, or even to provide some with long term investments that will pay off after a certain amount of time.

Investors who are well versed in the collection scene know that most commemorative coins will have gold and silver themes. This is a special way to thank investors, who are assured that the risk of their investment is much lower due to the fact that precious metals are present in the coin in question. And as precious metal prices continue to rise, these coins are often worth quite a bit of money once held onto, and kept in mint condition.

Governments will usually mint commemorative coins for extra cash flow to better run a nation. because governments will need to make a profit, most investors will not see a short term return on investment. Rather, it could take several years for the investment to pay off, depending on the situation and circulation of the coin. But this is nothing new to collectors, who are well aware that only through time do most coins raise in value.

Even if consumers don’t necessarily have experience in collecting commemorative coins, investing in them is always a good idea. Commemorative coins from the 1960’s, for instance, are worth quite a bit it today’s market. Thus, any type of investment in commemorative coins is sure to payoff with a large enough time frame. Commemorative coins are also great for decorative options- meaning having them around in the mean time is quite a treat.

Closing Comments

Coin collecting is a very rewarding experience, in more ways than one. Not only do collectors get a hefty return on investment throughout the years, but they also get the joy in decorating options, pride in helping one’s country, and something to talk about when inviting guests over. Finding commemorative coins is quite easy- the Internet has many resources in which to do so. Contacting the local government may also lead to information on where to obtain such intriguing collectibles.

Can I earn money Today by using the Internet?

by Di Chapman

Do you like the prospect of working from home but are worried about Internet Scams? At Become A Virtual Assistant, we understand your concerns as there are so many horror stories out there. Hopefully, having read this article and taken advantage of my 10 years Internet experience, you will feel more knowledgeable about the subject. You should be able to quickly check if something is for real or a fake.

Warning – Home Typing Scams

I personally have been earning my living on the Internet by typing or website designing. There are Home Typing scams but today they are few and far between. Further on in this article I will give some pointers as to how you can work out if it is real or a fake.

Medical Billing Scam

If you are asked to pay for billing software, take this as a warning sign about a scam and surf on.

Craft Assembly

How does this work? You are sent a pack to make crafts from I.e. wool to make scarves. Once made ‘they’ claim you can sell the completed items and make a profit but be warned you will be competing against places like China and you are likely to be left with many of the items yourself. What is worse, some scams ask you to send the items back to them for a quality check which you are likely to fail and therefore you never see the items or your payment again.

How to sniff out a scam

Some measures have been put in place on the Internet to protect you but here are some questions you could ask yourself to sniff out a scam:

Does the company have a website?

What is the quality of the website?

Is it well explained and is there a lot of information available?

Are there any testimonials and do they have pictures and contact details?

Does it offer video or other training?

Is there a money back guarantee? If so does it have a big black and gold logo giving the timescale for the guarantee? Does it simply offer a lifetime guarantee? If the company is paid via Clickbank/PayPal or PayDotCom you will ALWAYS be able to get your money back in 60 days.

You can also look out for other organisations that have trust logos on their website. They come in various shapes and sizes so be diligent and look carefully.

Do your research, we have done ours and found a few sites that are not scams.

Another method for sniffing out scams is common sense. If the deal seems too good to be true it probably is. For instance earning $25,000 in three months is probably a scam. There is no way easy way to make big money fast.

Now you are equipped with the extra knowledge about scams, follow the link at the bottom of the page. This will take you to details of a site that we have researched thoroughly and worked with. Happy safe surfing and working!
