How to Network to Get a Computer Hardware Job

by Ada Denis

It is said that word of mouth advertising is the strongest advertising. When searching for that perfect job, a job lead obtained through networking is better than searching through the newspaper or an online job posting. Through networking, you can find a computer hardware job. Use the steps below to become a better networker.

1. Create or define your network. Join general and industry-specific community organizations and clubs.

2. Join online newsgroups and virtual organizations. Post to those groups for visibility.

3. Get business cards printed. A business card is a quick way to get your contact information in the hands of people you meet. Put a unique message on the card related to your experience so that when people look at your card later, they remember who you are and what you do.

4. Give out business cards like crazy. The more cards you give out in your network, the more likely the card will end up in the hands of someone that needs to hire you.

5. Go to meetings and events. The more you get out there-the more chances you have to network.

6. Volunteer. It is a way to show people that you know what you are doing.
