Interesting news written recently which has yet to receive any comments is on the iPhone ad called horrorscope. As its name implies it predicts the future. As it was a Halloween application no one took it very seriously. For example one of the predictions of Scorpios on October 26, was that if the reader had survived an attack that day he would have contracted rabies which needs twenty injections to cure. This horrorscope predicts only horrific stuff and the suggestion was that it should be destroyed immediately after Halloween. Since it was free no one cared nor bothered about these unpleasant predictions.

This website also gives serious information like security flaws in accessing sites like Google. There are several talented people who find ways and means of hacking and getting into various forbidden territory. They do not like to be told what to do and what not to. But the various sites are taking precautions to look into their security- and succeeding to a great extent. At least till the next security lapse occurs.

Australia’s Channel Ten will be launching a new sports channel in the next few months. Australians will be able to get a free-to-air 24 hour channel which will show the latest in sports. Channel Ten has also challenged other channels and will be showing US NBA Basketball, US Major League Baseball and US Open golf tournament besides other events.

Nike Hindsight is a spec by Billy May which gives unparalleled vision to cyclists. These Fresnel lenses are like the big sticker found on the rear window of a school bus. It can show vehicles which are at the edge of the cyclist’s vision and gives extra vision to the driver. If this concept works, and it is quite cheap and useful, then the urban cyclist will definitely benefit. A tongue-in-cheek comment by the writer states that the specs need a laser which can knock out cell phones out of the hands of inattentive drivers.

The European Union has apparently imposed a new rule which states that wineries cannot use the word ‘Port’ on their wine labels unless the wine was made in Portugal. To circumvent this rule winemakers, especially the Peltier Station Winery, have found out a loophole. They have been branding their dessert wines as ‘USB’ in lieu of the word port. They even boldly stated the $25 wine as USB Port.

The above mentioned news items are just tips of an iceberg. There is more news from the world of Motorola, Nokia, Kodak and other such industries dealing with iTech.
