by Kylon Trower

Alright, now that you have seen small fortunes being made online and you realized the importance of an opt-in list you’ve started to build you own. The reality is that many are actually losing money with their list after they account for all the expenses incurred to run the business. In fact, even with a large list, the amount of sales doesn’t justify the cost to maintain and run the business profitably. Perhaps you’ve run the numbers and have fallen in this category.

Many have lists and actually lose money for every subscriber that joins. After the cost of advertising, time spent building squeeze pages and the like, most have a negative ROI (Return On Investment). Maybe you have
run your own numbers and fall into this group.

This just isn’t the case. Just because you sent an email to your list doesn’t mean they are going to buy immediately. If you are just starting with your list building and failed I’m going to give you four quick and easy ways to turn things around and get into profits with your opt-in list.

1. Get your customers to know, like and trust you and your products before you ask them to buy. Just launching product after product to your opt-in list does not make you a credible and believable seller. Write articles, create audio or videos to help your audience better understand how your product will help them.

2. Deliver quality at the point of sale. There is nothing more frustrating to a customer than to find out that they have been sold a bill of goods. Make sure the product you are promoting will meet the needs of your subscribers or don’t promote it, period.

3. Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is beneficial especially if it is someone who has already had success with their opt-in list. Their experience and success can be helpful in teaching you what mistakes to avoid and how to properly craft a successful email campaign. Although there are several articles and information on the internet on this topic, mentoring and masterminding with other successful list builders that you trust is always a great source of insight.

4. Stay consistent in you communication with your list. Don’t let weeks and months go by without touching base with your list. Even if it’ s just to share something personal with them or give them some free information you just learned. Consistent contact will prove to be a long term profit strategy for any list building endeavor.

Building a profitable opt-in list doesn’t happen overnight and there are many ideas to build and expand it. Build your list from scratch and remember that trust and credibility are the key ingredients to monetizing your list over time. As your list grows, hire help if needed and always make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and you’ll continue to profit for years to come.
