Know Yourself and Success Is Sure To Follow
Know what it is that you know, and, even more important, know what it is that you don’t.
Knowing what you already know can propel you forward in any area. On the other side of that equation, knowing what you don’t know will give you an extra “edge” that you will have to have to get even better results as an online business owner, and as a person.
At this point, you’re probably thinking, “what is knowing what you know and what you don’t know?”
Well, it’s just that.
When you know what you are good at, what your talents are, and where your strengths lay, you have a list of things that you can do, and do effectively. You know what tasks you are best suited for, and, most importantly, those that you can do yourself and not pay someone else to do.
Now, how about knowing what you don’t know?
When first setting out to reach your goals, you start learning that there are some things you aren’t too good at but must do.
This is the knowing what you don’t know part.
These odd tasks are usually responsible for getting you stuck. They keep you from moving forward. Admitting that these are not your strongest points will make you much happier, and effective, in the long run.
If you have know what it is that you aren’t so good at, and it is not a thing you must do on your own, give it to someone else! You’ll be better off working on those things that you are good at instead of wasting time trying to figure out how to do something.
This can be very difficult to do for some people though, especially online business owners.
We usually get so stuck in doing everything on our own that soon enough we don’t have an ounce of energy for our business.
We do what we know, we try to learn what we don’t know, and soon enough, the business is on the back burners because we haven’t quite perfected graphic design yet!
The idea that you should know everything is insane and, even if you happen to be okay at these tasks, you can still pay someone else to do them even better than you at less of a cost to your business. (The cost of you not moving it forward.)
Of course, when you’re just starting off, you probably won’t have the money to hire all of the people you need, but you should still be aware of your strengths and abuse the heck out of them. Know what your weak points are and learn what it is you HAVE to learn.
Make some money, then give some of that to someone else to do it, so you can make A LOT of money.
That’s the difference between a weekend in the Bahamas, or a weekend in your office passed out in front of the computer with a small amount of extra money in the bank that could otherwise afford you some help, and a plane ticket.
