Found a Winning Business Opportunity? 10 Questions to Ask
With the large amount of business opportunities available in Australia, the U.S. and New Zealand, there can be a little difficulty deciding on one which will best meet your needs. You know that you want to get involved in one, but there are so many choices that it can be a bit overwhelming. Some are of the opinion that it is far too risky to start up ones own business – and it’s true that there is risk involved, but this risk is often lower than you may think and the rewards are potentially very great.
How can you assess the risk level of a new business opportunity and decide whether it is one you can live with? Following are ten things to consider when thinking about getting into a business.
1. Does this business offer a product or service which is useful and of high quality, or just something which has been put together simply to make money?
2. Is there demand for this product? Do you see other people needing this product? If you wouldn’t consider buying it, other people might not either.
3. Is the business in a sector which is growing? For example, the green sector is a part of the market currently seeing growth. Avoid any business which occupies a market sector which is contracting.
4. Does this company do business in an ethical manner? Are they a company with a good reputation, or have they just come out of nowhere suddenly? You don’t want to invest in a fly by night business which will disappear with your money.
5. Does the company offer comprehensive training for people just getting involved? Any company relies on having a well trained, knowledgeable staff if it wants to remain profitable. A company which takes the time to give staff the tools and training they need to be successful is one which is likely to go the distance; and you should probably avoid companies which do not provide this.
6. Is ongoing support offered by the company? Do they help you until you give them your money and then move on? Or do they actually guide you through the entire process? This is an important question that new business owners should be asking.
7. Does this company have goals which align with your own? You will be much more successful in a business opportunity which you have a personal interest in.
8. Can you get in touch with a real person at the company? Do they have an office you can visit? Are they responsive to emails or calls? You don’t want to get involved with any company which will not get back to you to answer questions.
9. Have others been successful with this business opportunity? Talk to people who have gotten in on this opportunity before you sign up – don’t rely on the testimonials provided by the company. You want to talk to real people who have been there themselves.
10. Do you have a gut feeling about the company one way or the other? If you have a bad feeling about this company, listen to your instincts and stay away from this opportunity.
With a little luck and a lot of determination, you can be successful in your new business opportunity, as long as it meets the criteria given above. Before signing on to any business opportunity, check it against the list provided and make sure that it is the right business for you.
