Respect For The Desert (but It’s A Dry Heat!)
Living in the Arizona desert is an awesome experience, Lake Havasu City being one example. It does, however, require an adaptation from other climates in the United States. It is currently the end of September, and when most folks are thinking about finishing their garden for the year, we desert rats are going to the nursery and finding plants such as tomatoes and peppers to start growing. And the department stores are clearing out summer clothing at awesome prices and we buy it up knowing we can still wear the outfits for at least a couple more months.
People shake their heads, thinking how can you handle 117 degrees? I arrived in Lake Havasu City at the end of June, 2007. The third day I was here the temperature was 123. The record high has been 128. Wow, many would say. But it becomes a lifestyle for those of us who love it as we do. And although we joke, but it is a dry heat, it really is.
So what respect is about the desert? Number one – water. Everywhere you go, bring you water. Arizonians that we respect so much water, you must give it to them, where if someone requests your door and water comes to a “neighbor” is the law. It’s the law. Good laws. I learned the hard way to respect the desert. I at home one day, difficult, walked all the residential area. Only 10 years old, but was up from 110, and I dropped my water. Up that I, my bottle of water shield soon, a wash right in the head, as was the leadership.
Well, wash? What was that? Most of the rain in the desert, even though it usually pour. Be transported somewhere and the ground water with the capacity to absorb it. It’s great for urban planning, we collect rain, the lake down to the cleaning of drainage pipes are sent to. Basically, cleaning to prevent flash floods.W
And the washes do what? To the desert home for the critters they are doing. It’s right in the middle of the city is not unusual to see a coyote and a desert wash out the road come and go in search of the next wash up are running. Desert freedom, for security for washing hop around part city of bunnies.
, As well as the lives of different animals, nature provides just a great peace. Night of the stars and moon shining brightly. And the absolute quiet. , “You drop a pin,” you can hear is reality. The desert, a great night’s sleep at night for a walk can lead to easing the shooting.
Many people here as his second home in the desert select. They avoid excessive heat from all parts of the country and here they come to spend the winter. For that matter, other countries as well from some trip. It seems that Lake Havasu City residents, mainly “transplants” are all together with equity coming from a people means more say. A very mild winter weather to enjoy the atmosphere.
Now, the result of all this? The representative of a group of good points, as well as the desert, but to each other. The kindness of other people as continued support seen in everyday life. As well as respect for one another, deserts. Please join us!
