How do teens take the National Day Quiz?
Taking the quiz is quick, easy, and fun. Teens can simply log on to the National Campaign’s teen website to go directly to the quiz.There are two ways that users can interact with each other. The first way is to visit our weekly Ask the Experts moderated chat. Users can ask sexual health questions and see what other teens are asking. Chats are held every Tuesday from 8-9 p.m. Eastern Time. The second way to interact with other users is to submit a topic to In Your Own Words.Teens use alcohol and other drugs for many reasons.

How do you determine BMI for children and teens?
Divide your total weight in pounds by your height in inches squared and then multiply the result by 703. Or: BMI = [(weight in pounds)/(height in inches)2] X 703 For ages 2 to 20, gender and age are taken into account. BMI is plotted on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention growth charts and is interpreted as a percentile. The CDC does not officially use the term “obese” to describe the BMI of children and teens, but there is some push to change that.Again, each school will have their own visitation policies. Often visits are used as rewards for good behavior.We recommend that teens be tested at least once a month. That is why our program is set up to send parents multiple kits. To avoid becoming predictable and to help eliminate teen temptations to indulge between tests, we encourage parents to “mix it up” when it comes to picking the specific dates to administer their tests.

This encourages safety training, judgment training and positive behavior. We are shaping the future motorcycle riders.

How many teens are in the program?
Each year, we invite 45 students throughout southeastern Wisconsin to be part of the Teen Health Crew.Yes, a student may be expelled from our program.

What positive consequences work best for older teens?
Teenagers like attention. They also like to have extra time to spend with friends, talk on the telephone, go places and use the car. You can motivate teens by having them earn future privileges, such as money for new clothes or special activities (movies, concerts, etc.).You will be given (as part of the trip cost) a TWB T-shirt. If you wish you can purchase our nylon-pouched jacket, cap, and sweatshirts. They are sold at cost and can be ordered on the enclosed blue form.

Why do teens abuse drugs and alcohol?
Teens use alcohol and other drugs for many reasons. They may do it because they want to fit in with friends or certain groups. They may also take a drug or drink alcohol because they like the way it makes them feel. Or they may believe that it makes them more grown up. Teens tend to try new things and take risks, and they may take drugs or drink alcohol because it seems exciting.Although not highly structured, there are many activities for teens including water-skiing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, pedal boating, sailing, volleyball, use of games room and more.Teens’ bodies are still developing and alcohol has a greater impact on their physical and mental well-being. For example, people who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcoholism than those who begin at age 21. Remember, you’re in good company.
