Where Have All The Profitable Blog Niches Gone?

by Dale D Bigio

Discovering a profitable blog niche should be an action carefully researched before acting. If you’re only purpose is to start a blog about your family, then obviously it doesn’t matter what subject you cover. On the other hand, if you’re wanting to make money from blogging, the niche you choose is very important. You’ll need to know how much competition there is in a niche, how well does it pay, are there any affiliate programs for your niche and so forth.

What I’ll be trying to do here is to get you thinking outside the box when choosing a profitable niche. I’ll show you that it doesn’t matter if you’re a new blogger to the Internet or a seasoned pro. My tactics will allow you to search out profitable niches in any field.

Isolating Your Interests

The advantage of starting out with something you’re knowledgeable and passionate about is that you’ll have plenty of ideas to blog about. One of the biggest failing points for bloggers is finding something to continually blog about. This is why it’s important to choose something you know and have interest in. It doesn’t matter all that much what the niche is. Perhaps you love to Cook, sew, work with wood, play Soccer or watch professional football. Any of these niches can be profitable. If you’re truly passionate about a subject, you’re more likely to turn out interesting and informative articles. This will keep the traffic to your blog coming in, thus making your niche a profitable one.

As I said before, nearly any subject is fair game for a niche blogger. The subject of the blog isn’t nearly as important as whether or not you have knowledge about the niche and whether or not you can provide informative and interesting blog post. Once you can do that, everything else starts falling into place. Bloggers who only want to make money with a blog may have to search their interest for a subject that is capable of bringing in a higher traffic count, but even small interest can be profitable by multiplying the number of blogs you have.

Learning About Your Competition

Once a blogger has selected one or more subjects he is considering for a blog, it is time to begin evaluating the competition. This includes viewing other blogs covering the same subject matter. This will not only give the blogger a good indication of whether or not the market is already saturated with blogs on this subject and the quality of the existing blogs on this subject. Based on this information the blogger can make an informed decision about whether or not he feels capable of competing for blog traffic with the existing blogs.

Deciding What the Purpose of Your Blog Should Be

Blogs can be created for any number of purposes. Politicians use them to get their message out. Activist use them to recruit and energize members. Some of us use them to make our income from them. There are any number of reasons for starting a blog. Why is this important? Because if you’re starting a blog to make money, you need to make sure there is enough interest in your subject to drive traffic to your blog. Traffic will be what makes you money. Without traffic, there will be no money coming in from your blog!

Now having said that, I can’t tell you how important it is that you choose a niche that is capable of driving traffic to your blog. Don’t think that just because a topic is popular, that you’ll be successful. Many new bloggers in the make money online niche end up failing miserably because they never took into account the difficulty in getting their blogs ranked high enough to generate traffic. This is probably one of the most saturated niches on the Internet and I continually see new bloggers waste time and money on it when they could have already dominated a different niche and be making money from it.
