Internet Marketing
PPC and SEO are the two biggest forms of internet marketing. PPC stands for pay per click. SEO is Search engine optimization.
Pay per click is the fastest way to get your site noticed by potential customers. You simply bid on a keyword or phrase using Google’s Adwords. Then, when someone does a search for that keyword term your advertisement shows up on the right side of the search results.
The ads that show up next to the search results are a paid advertisement by someone who paid for that keyword phrase you searched for. Internet marketers do lots of research to find out which keywords will give them the best results in selling their products and services.
Getting a site to show up on the left side of the Google search results requires a little more patience and skill. A person who does this type of marketing uses SEO to get his website noticed.
SEO traffic is free. It takes a lot more time to get done but you can’t beat the price. It is more work in the beginning but requires little maintenance once accomplished. PPC requires more upfront capital and more attention along the way.
SEO consists of two parts which are onsite and offsite optimization. Experts are constantly trying to adjust their site to maintain their position in the search engines. Both parts are important to the success of the site.
When you optimize your site with a certain keyword that is on site optimization. It involves using the word enough times in the right spots to get the page noticed by the search engines. If you put it in too many places the search engines look at it as spam and ignore your site. Off site optimization uses other people’s sites to gain rank.
Off site optimization involves you using anchor text, your link embedded in the keyword phrase you are trying to rank for, and direct links on other sites in the same niche you are in. The more sites that link back to you the better your chances of ranking highly in the search engine results.
PPC and SEO are the two major methods used in internet marketing. You can find copious amounts of information all over the internet on both subjects. To become effective at internet marketing you must learn how to use both. Start with one, master it, then go on to the next.
