Making Money From Home

by Kelly Heldreth

Recapping our previous discussion about the important role that desire plays in setting goals, I mentioned that goals that have a high level of desire attached to them will always have greater power to them. This is because the Universe responds to your desires and always supports it. If you really want something, the Universe will start to rearrange itself to accommodate your desires.

While emotion is the strongest power behind goal achievement, that doesn’t mean you can sit on the couch and “will” your way through life. Goal achievement also requires action. The wealthy understand what it takes to achieve success and how their habits, mindset and belief systems affect their level of success. This is the major difference between the wealthy and the poor. They don’t think the same and they certainly don’t have the same habits.

If you really want to become a success, you have to make a commitment to your own personal development. Now let’s be honest – if you don’t know what you’re doing wrong, how can you be expected to change things for the better? If you haven’t yet gotten to where you want to be, it may be that your own thoughts and behaviors are holding you back. So how can you identify and then change these thought and behavioral patterns?

1.You need to start spending time with people who already have the success that you want. Join one of the professional associations or business networking groups in your city – your local Chamber of Commerce is a good place to inquire about these groups. There are also many national groups you can join.

You can also meet successful people by attending seminars and workshops on personal development. Look for an event which interests you and go! Talk to people and make sure to introduce yourself to everyone. Exchange business cards or contact information and keep in contact with the people you’ve met.

2. Make a commitment to learning more and expanding your awareness and knowledge. You can’t change the things you’re doing wrong if you don’t know what those things are! You may find that these personal development seminars can be a big help in getting you towards your goal. You’ll learn a little more each time you attend one of these events and this will help you to change the things which have been holding you back from success.

3. Read, Read and Read some more. Find books by people who have attained the success you are trying to achieve and read as much as you can. Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Bob Proctor and others are all people who share the secrets of their success with you. One good place to start is with the Power of Mentorship series (available from Amazon.com). If you find yourself short on spare time for reading, you can always get audio books instead and listen on your iPod or in the car.

Tony Robbins said “Success leaves clues”. This is something which is completely true. You need to find the people out there who have made the success out of their lives which you want from yours and learn from them. There aren’t any quick fixes – you’ll still have to work to change your habits; but when you can learn from someone who has been there themselves, the process becomes far more easy.
