Stealing Over The Internet
Most of the internet “thieves” have software to conduct an official and prohibited access to public data records. By getting an access to the public data records, the criminal can get information about the victim. Normally, criminals access the date of birth, surname, maiden name, address, security number and many more.
Instead of public data base, some thieves will use web linkages by typing in something that is similar to Social Security Numbers. They will access several search engines and find out people’s files; with those they can access any information about certain people.
Another way used by the criminals is creating fake websites; when subscribing on that site, personal data is gathered by the criminal.
People should know that any public computer has more than one user. If you buy something from a public machine it will leave a cookie on it, so anyone who would be interested could access that cookie and learn your personal information. Also, they could buy things from the same online store in your name.
Criminals also use encryption software which helps them figure out credit card numbers. A victim’s number will be easily found with encryption software so watch out.
Your credit card sending over the internet will not be completely safe until you send it through an online store that has a padlock icon. The padlock icon is located in the lower corner of the web browser.
Criminals usually want information about people to manage their personal accounts and start making transactions with their credit cards. They usually buy certain things and spend all the money on a hacked credit card.
Thieves will use new credit cards for their lost credits. They will always need another credit card and another victim for their purchases.
With the beginning of the internet fraudulence, identity theft already has become a proficient beneficial industry. Criminals, hackers and perpetrators have easier and quicker access to classified data around the globe.
If people want to protect themselves they will have to use a computer carefully when making transactions. Also, if they use a high speed broadband things become safer because it makes the computer flexible against all attacks.
