What Is It Like On A Working Holiday
Did you ever dream of traveling to another country? However, you may not have enough money to support your travel and so you disregard this dream of yours. How about if I tell you that you can make it come true, but you will have to work for it? It is called working holiday. Basically you just work in your country of your choice, as for the sake of discussion we’ll make Japan as our example.
You can work in a resort in Japan which is one of the main sources of employment for most foreigners who want to work in Japan. And one such resort is a ski resort which means if you are above average in your ski skills, then you can apply to become a ski instructor. But do not limit yourself to that position. If you have previous experience working in a resort or hotel, then you can apply for other jobs in the hospitality business. A waiter, assistant manager, bartender, and entertainer are just some of the other jobs that quickly come to mind.
And what can you expect should you go on a Japan working holiday? It is with the work hours that you might find some getting used to. And it is not just particular to Japan. Other countries might have different working hours and it might even be caused by the time zone differences. Aside from that, you should also consider the kind of work that you are doing. Some jobs, especially in a resort or hotel, would require you to work longer hours. Some while there are still some guests in that resort. What all of these basically mean is that you should be more flexible with your work hours.
Now let us talk about your salary. In first world nations, you can expect for a very good salary. However, you should expect that in any other place, your salary would depend on your experience and your skills pertaining to that job that you want. Another thing that you should be very careful with is when you sign your job contract. You should make sure that the salary you have agreed on is stated clearly in that contract. You should also clarify everything about taxes. Whether you are the one who will have to pay them or if taxes are automatically deducted from your pay.
And how about where you will be staying? Will you be getting your own room and will your employer take the tab for it? First of all, you should never expect that your employer will prepare your own accommodations although it might be a different thing if you are going to work in a resort especially if it is in a bit isolated place. However, should you be provided with your accommodations, chances are you will be sharing it with other employees. You may not even be alone in your room. You should welcome this opportunity as your chance to get to know your co-workers better and to build friendship with them.
And finally learn all that you can about the country you are going to. It would be a good idea to learn their language so you will not have a hard time communicating with the locals. You should also study their culture and tradition and working in that country is your best chance to do that.
In closing, getting into a working holiday in any country is a great experience. Whether you are in search of Japan jobs for foreigners or with any country for that matter, the benefit that you will get is the chance to see that nation with your own naked eyes.
