The concept of owning and running a business from home is to be able to earn enough money to afford the desired lifestyle of your dreams. To achieve this many people work extremely hard at becoming a success, and quite often put in lots more hours working for themselves from home, than they would when employed by someone else. The main factor that people seem to overlook is that they could do to be earning a residual income from home.

The concept of working at home has a certain feel attached to it – many people assume that work-at-home means less work but as much money as they would earn if they were employed somewhere. But that is not necessarily the case. Running a home business or working out of home is not an escapist fair, and you should not think of working at home simply because you want to avoid hard work. Work-at-home is indeed serious business, and should be treated in the same manner as a normal job. At best, work-at-home is an alternative way of working, without having to punch the time clock.

Residual income is income where there is no direct relationship between your income and the work you do. Residual income is generated through projects such as sales that are repeated over and over again. One example of this is affiliate marketing; this is where a person puts ads for a product held on the parent website. When a client clicks on the advertisement on the affiliate’s website and buys the product then the affiliate receives commission. This can happen over and over again. If the affiliate is affiliated to more than one parent website then his or her residual income soon begins to grow.
