Graphic design will be one of the fast growing job markets by 2014. These careers would normally focus round graphic design, designing websites and computer animation. Never think that the market will be free from competition – even if there are plenty of jobs in computer graphic design. The reason for this is due to its popularity as an area of study, hobby, career as well as part time freelancing. To become a computer graphic designer, a four year college degree or a Bachelors Degree is sufficient. Only two years college degree or Associates Degree can get you some technical positions. To help your career go forward, you need to get yourself more educationally qualified. The importance of formal education must be clearly understood if you want your career to continue in this field.

Nearly thirty percent of people involved in the computer graphic profession work as freelancers. Half of those freelancers also hold steady jobs in either a computer graphics company or employed in some other computer related organization. If you decide to opt for freelancing, it is a feasible option since there is a continuous stream of demand from smaller firms with design needs who can not afford the fees of larger design companies.

There are many other careers in computer graphic design also. Some career options include the print media such as books, papers and periodicals, audio media like advertising and electronic media like films and TV. If you seek a career in a specialist company, you might not get so much in terms of variety but you could expect a steady stream of work which will pad out your portfolio. This can only make your clients happy and make them offer you new projects.

A college degree, a burning ambition and a thorough knowledge of where you wish to go are a great start if you wish to take this up as a career option. You must develop your computer skills further along with the knowledge of using graphic software. A collection of your best work ought to be made too for your portfolio. Your portfolio tells the world what you are capable of.

As soon as you finish your college and have made up your mind as to what you want to do, your aim should be to get that first entry level job to get your fot in the door of the profession. There are online job boards, online or print classified ads or the college or university placement desks, where you could get to know the available opportunities in graphic design jobs. Online job boards, classified ads as well as job for hire boards are also the main places where freelance job opportunities are displayed. Work for hire boards work better for design careers than other careers. Good luck in pursuing your graphic design career!
