Training your dog<\/a> to be the best family pet<\/a> you ever had can be simple. You have two choices for your dog training: do it yourself or hire a trainer. There are equally good reasons for both depending on the time, energy and money you have available or are willing to spend.<\/p>\n

There are several simple steps that must be followed to get the dog you always wanted. They are not hard steps. They do require you to plan and think before you start.<\/p>\n

* Dog Training should be fun for both you and you dog. You do not have to have strict rules. The dog does not know why he is being trained. Your dog should see this as a fun activity.<\/p>\n

* Dog Training should be consistent i.e. allowing the dog to sleep on couch one day but not the next is confusing to your dog. You should also only use single words for each command.<\/p>\n

* If you decide to use a trainer, you must review their style and attitude. You should probably also ask for referrals. Not every trainer is the right trainer for your dog.<\/p>\n

* Dog Training will not happen overnight. It will take time and many repetitions to get your dog trained. Your dog will set the pace of the training.<\/p>\n

There are also a considerable number to dog training aids out there to help you. You will need to determine how you want to train the dog and much you are willing or able to spend. You may want to just use treats as rewards which is inexpensive to fancy collars or other electronic devices.<\/p>\n

Dog training will take time and energy, but it is also satisfying. Your dog will be happy, healthy and a well behaved member of your family and neighborhood.<\/p>\n
