We hear and read all about global warming, climatic changes and other things. These are serious things which affect mankind and it is the duty of all people on earth to be aware of them and to see that they do not assume gigantic and irreversible proportions. It is in our hands to protect earth so that the future generations will have a good earth to live on. <\/p>\n

We all face skyrocketing energy costs, global warming and threatening power supply all the time. You can kill all three problems with one shot-just make your house eco-friendly. There are several ways of doing this. Some are cheap and easy to make, others are expensive and difficult to make. <\/p>\n

If you make your home energy independent, not only will you save on headaches and tension but will also save quite a lot of money. You will also have the satisfaction of protecting the environment in your own way.<\/p>\n

A lot of energy is used while doing the daily work. To light houses, to keep them warm or cool, to cook, to heat, to enjoy, everything needs energy in the form of electricity. Coal, wood, oil and petrol are also used. All this costs a lot of money which can be saved.<\/p>\n

Our houses and industries use many chemicals and compounds. Electricity lights and heats our houses, most appliances in our houses use electricity. Cleansing products and even plastic bags have some chemical compounds in them. Fuels like gas, oil, coal, wood all give off carbon dioxide. Our vehicles also produce carbon dioxide. These are all green house gases which make climate changes and create problems. <\/p>\n

Our planet-earth-depends on the heat of the sun but all these gases emanating from our houses, industries, factories and vehicles allow the strong ultraviolet rays of the sun to penetrate the earth. Before these gases began creating problems for us, the stratosphere (ozone layer) used to protect the earth. It used to deflect these bad rays of the sun. Too much of UV rays are not good for human beings and life on earth and that is why we have to prevent global warming and curtail green house gases. These gases and climate changes affect the earth’s natural heating and cooling cycles.<\/p>\n

Earlier an ozone layer protected the earth by reflecting the UV rays back into space. The sun gives us light and energy and without the sun, life would be impossible. But the sun also has strong rays which contain UV rays and these are not good. With the green gases forming a layer the UV rays are absorbed and harm the atmosphere.<\/p>\n

It is up to all human beings to control and prevent hot house gases so that the earth is safer for people. Countries blame each other for the global warming but it is every one’s duty to see that global warming is controlled, that gases do not pollute the atmosphere and that people can save energy by using natural sources like the sun.<\/p>\n
