One obvious thing is the anonymity of the internet. Also, it is so easy to get on the web these days. The one thing that prevents most people from doing anything wrong is the fear of being caught. For the others, the internet is a way to vent hatred and cruelty.

What if an old lady dropped her purse on a busy sidewalk? A regular person on the street would return it kindly. However, if an old lady accidentally put her bank information online, it would be so easy to take it and hide. If this were to happen, the scammer would blame the old lady for putting her information online to make it not their fault. They claim that it was simply the old ladies’ mistake.

Internet marketing is also a littered field of charlatans and scam artists because it’s so easy to do. You don’t have to be terribly clever pull over on someone online. Based on the most prevalent email scams, you don’t even have to be able to write coherent English. It doesn’t take much more than an official looking email address to fool some fools out of their money.

It is common for scams to be done with simple, well-known tactics that most people use on a daily basis, such as copy and pasting. The person creating the fake page simply copies a legitimate email from a well known company. All it takes are a couple tricks and changes in the code of the email. Many of these codes can be found with basic internet searches, too! After it is distributed, unknowing recipients reply to this unofficial email and the fraud artist has everything they need.

Furthermore, marketing on the internet is extremely cheap! It is so easy to find a site that offers free email addresses in which nothing is verified to determine the identity of the user. Also, it only costs a couple dollars to create your own website and once again it is not hard to replicate a real website to trick people into giving their money or bank information.

Unlike the false websites or emails, real companies actually use cost-benefit analysis to determine if it is actually worth it to send mass emails like the ones that scammers send. It would need to make more money than is being used to send out the email. In retrospect, scammers don’t have to do this because of the fact that they are using a free service to send emails. In fact, there are also programs that can be bought cheap that will help to send out mass emails and make it easier to distribute the scam emails.

So many emails can be sent, in fact, that even if only 1 percent of the recipients respond the scammer has still made out well! This technique has been used to such an extent that legitimate companies rarely use email blitzes anymore, because most people who receive these kinds of emails just assume they are scams!

Marketing scams have cluttered the whole genre of internet marketing making it very difficult to determine whats verifiable. Some time and an internet connection can be enough for scammers to get want they want because the act of scamming requires not much money, not much talent, and no real knowledge.
