Many people sell themselves short without understanding what it takes to move get the job they want. It is possible to get any job you want, but you need to be prepared. The five points below will give you a view of what is required to get that job.

1: Make a Great Impression – Always dress in your best attire for the interview. Your attire should be appropriate. No matter what the company may require for their employees, the first impression for applicants should be conservative business attire.

Tip 2: Be friendly in the interview. Try to develop a relationship with our interviewer, make contact with them. You can often get a feel for an interviewer and whether they like you. If you feel this connection, work on it by not only showing that you have the relevant experience but by working on the connection with the employer.

Tactic 3: If the interviewer is intimidating you with talk of salary or number of hours per week of work, just roll with it. Don’t say anything definite like, “90 hours a week is ok with me.” Keep your responses vague and don’t sound like you’re on board with slave labor, or that you would definitely not do it either. In these situations you might make a humorous comment such as, “As long as I get a lunch break.” This lets the interviewer know that you are not slamming the door, but neither are you offering to be walked upon.

Tactic 4: Even if you are shy, don’t let it show. Introduce yourself to everyone that you come in contact with. Smile, shake hands, and say, “Hi, I’m blank. I’m really hoping to star working here as blank.” You never know who you are talking to; it could be the big boss, or someone who would put in a good word for you. So be open and friendly to everybody to ensure that you establish all possible connections in the company.

5: As you near the end of the interview, make sure that all bases are covered. Now is not the time to discuss or even ask about the salary and the benefits that you will receive once employed. There is ample time for that once you do get the position and you are discussing the job offer.
Wrap things up by summarizing your strengths and pointing out your positive traits. Finally, as you end the interview, make sure to thank the interviewer again for his or her time, thus leaving a lasting impression.

About the Author:

Before you go for another job interview, check out Sharon Alexander’s free stress free job hunting report Stress Free Job Hunting and Killer Interview Strategies

It’s the responsibility of every person to ensure that they are prepared before they attend an interview.
