Many people are frantic because they feel hopeless in their debt situation. They keep hoping that someone, somewhere, can answer their prayers to &#8220;get me out of debt.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p> When you first begin a get me out of debt plan, it will be tough going initially. The key is to see what your future will look like without all those worries, the threatening or harassing phone calls, or the bounced purchases. Then think about all the opportunities you see or want and the freedom and ability to take advantage of them.<\/p>\n<p> Creating a workable budget is the first step you can take toward implementing your get me out of debt plan. Your budget will help you to stay the course and avoid piling on more debt.  It should guide your spending and show you what to expect in the short-term and long term. If you have never kept track of your spending start today. That is the first step.<\/p>\n<p> Your budget should include everything you spend money on. Think about your spending. Some of this spending or  expenses will be monthly and others may be annually. Whatever they are, you should record them in the get me out of debt budget. Your budget will determine how much you can allocate to the &#8220;get me out of debt&#8221; payments &#8211; the money you can spend each month to get the debt paid off faster.<\/p>\n<p> Working on one debt at a time, starting with the smallest, will give you a sense of achievement that will help you to stick with it. As your debt shrinks, your self-esteem will grow. Use any extra money to start paying off the smaller debts; this will give you early success and confidence.<\/p>\n<p> There will always be a little pain with your &#8220;get me out of debt&#8221; plan. You may have to forgo some of the luxuries that you were used to for a few months. But if you stay focused on the future, and on the freedom it will bring, sticking with your budget and giving up a few things now won&#8217;t bother you nearly so much.  The reward at the end of the period of sacrifice will be well worth it.<\/p>\n<p> The key to answering the get me out of debt problem is consistency. Once you get your budget established, do not vary from the program. If you&#8217;ve designed a proper budget, then you will know which bills to pay and when to pay them. You will know what you can buy and what is off limits.
