Sometimes you come across those business questions that just have you stumped or slow down your progress. Personally, this has happened to me, especially when I was just starting my online marketing business. Within this article I’m going to answer one of the questions I had about affiliate marketing, hoping to help you with your business success.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/p>\n

I have referred over 25 people through my link to an affiliate product I am promoting. The problem is, I haven’t made any sales. Am I doing something wrong?<\/p>\n

Here is the answer:<\/p>\n

Conversion rates will vary depending on a few things, such as the way the product is positioned, the copy of the salesletter, what guarantees or bonuses are linked with it.<\/p>\n

Knowing the multiple variables that affect conversion rates it is also important to know that it often takes 25 or more clicks of any one product in order to generate sales. The number of sales made will be greatly influenced by the type of traffic being sent there.<\/p>\n

This makes sense if you really think about it. If 40 dog<\/a> lovers clicked onto a page about grooming cats<\/a> it is very unlikely that any of them will buy your product. For any affiliates my biggest piece of advice to to focus on the type and quality of traffic you are sending to your sites.<\/p>\n

Promoting to people that fit within the target market for the product is essential. After doing this you want to position the product correctly so that it appeals to all the key issues that market is looking for.<\/p>\n

* What are their biggest challenges? Frustrations?<\/p>\n

* What are their desires?<\/p>\n

* What are that market’s wants – more money, free time, ability to do xyz easier<\/p>\n

These are the types of questions that you want to answer because it will get you in the mind of the person you are promoting to. It helps you better position the products you are promoting and as such, the traffic you send will be much more targeted (this is assuming that you are promoting to people that are somewhat targeted for this type of offer).<\/p>\n

Before you can really step back and figure out where you might be able to improve your promotion you have to remember it typically takes at least 100-200 clicks to find any real problems. It is at that point where you have enough data to be able to make a judgment properly.<\/p>\n

But first, always start with the market and make sure that the people you are promoting to are targeted to what you are offering. Then focus on the way you have positioned the product.<\/p>\n
