When it comes to small business and entrepreneurship, Inc. Magazine is a leading monthly publication in the business world with a circulation nearing 690,000 in 2007. In 1982 the magazine began publishing the “Inc. 100”, a list of the fastest growing, privately owned businesses in America. Within 2 years they expanded it to the “Inc. 500” and today they’ve gone as far as adding an “Inc. 5000” list to their website.<\/p>\n

Companies that make the Inc. 5000 are entitled to a series of privileges on Inc. Magazine’s private business networking website, IncBizNet. Privately owned business can get registered on IncBizNet for free. Once on the site, entrepreneurs<\/a> get a slew of web marketing services – a corporate profile, a blog<\/a>, press release distribution, and a community<\/a> of other like-minded successful business executives to network with and share ideas.<\/p>\n

The real estate<\/a> industry has always had a special relationship<\/a> with the Inc. 5000 list. Due to the nature of having many “self-starters” in real estate, several agencies have seen their successes recognized by the leading small business publication. In the 2008 Inc. 5000, the top 50 real estate companies cover a wide variety of topics in the industry.<\/p>\n

Although the housing boom of the early to mid 2000s is over, many real estate companies still made the list since it looks at the previous 4 years of revenue stream. Many of the states with the biggest markets during the boom had several companies make the list. Florida, for example, had eight real estate companies recognized, while Illinois took 2nd place with five real estate companies in the state making the list. Texas and Nevada each had four.<\/p>\n

Of the top 50 real estate companies in the Inc. 5000, 21 offer broker related services. In a related but sometimes forgotten division of real estate, 15 of the top 50 real estate companies are involved in building and construction. Real estate investment companies were also well represented among the Inc. 5000 top 50 real estate companies – 8 of them made the 2008 list.<\/p>\n

A real estate marketing and lead generation company also made this year’s list. GetMyHomesValue, a Lancaster PA-based business wound up #16 in the top 50. The company offers internet marketing and lead generation to real estate agents nationwide. In the past few years, it has grown to provide a slew of other tools, including websites, coaching, CRM tools and more. With a 786% growth in revenue, it’s no surprised that they were recognized on the Inc. 500.<\/p>\n

Along with the reputation and great PR that comes with making the Inc. 5000, owners<\/a> are also invited to a conference and awards ceremony. Inc. Magazine holds the ceremony each year to bring executives together to recognize their achievements. With past appearances by former President Bill Clinton, Marshall Goldsmith and Thomas Friedman, it is an amazing opportunity for education and networking for business owners.<\/p>\n
