Act as if your mother came in to buy a vehicle and doesn’t know much, is afraid of the process, and needs a really good deal. Take good care of each customer and they will recommend you to others.

Are you just trying to make a deal? People can sense insincerity when you just want to make the deal, and don’t care about much else. Loosen up, show interest in the customer-make them happy-they are there for a reason.

First impressions are everything and profesional dress is a must. From top to bottom your appearance should say business. A nice suit will not go far if there is not a well gromed face and haircut to go with it. The same applies to shoes – sneakers should never be an option.

Do you really know your product? An \\”I don’t know\\” often means that you don’t really know your product and your customer will lose confidence in your ability to close the sale for their benfit. Of course, special questions can always go to your sales manager.

Make sure you are timely in your response to your customer-they will lose patience and go elsewhere if you keep them waiting a long time-maybe you can offer the customer refreshments while they wait-and be sincerely sorry they are waiting. You can keep their business and gain other referrals at the same time.

Never say no. Of course, there are going to be thing you can’t offer a client but instead of just saying no, gently offer something else. For example, instead of saying \\”We don’t make that color red\\”, try saying \\”Unfortunately, that color red is not available, but we do have this color red instead\\”. There must be an alternative when you can’t meet a client’s needs.

Customers are saavy and more knowlegable these days with increased internet usage and more competition, and complicated economic times. Your sales will influence whether your company can stay in business, so remember every customer counts, and every sale counts towards the bottom line.

Dont turn off your customers with a constant \\”no\\” response to their choices. Offer another choice if you can’t fulfill their original choice. If they want green, offer them blue or another color choice. Let them know the advantages of other choices-offer alternatives.

About the Author:

Atten: auto salespeople.
