Each year to ensure that these services are carried out as the owner<\/a> of a condo you are asked to pay a monthly or yearly association fee that covers the costs. But instead of you having to look for and hire contractors to do the work required this is instead left to the management company hired by the association to maintain the properties external features.<\/p>\n

There are going to be certain rules and regulations as a condo owner which you will need to adhere to as do the rest in who own condo’s in the same property as you. But because of this everything will be kept in a neat and tidy fashion and only pertain to those that are outside of your property.<\/p>\n

However, you need to be aware that there may be certain internal ones that need to be adhered to as well. For example if you are considering having new flooring placed down if you intend to get wooden floors then you need to find out what insulation is required. Unfortunately the begin problem with wooden floors if not properly sound proofed as you walk across them the noise can carry through to your neighbors below. <\/p>\n

Also if you are intending to make any changes of a major nature within the condo then you need to check not only with the building association but also the local building authority if this can be done. If you don’t then you may well find yourself having to get all the work taken down and converting the property back to the original condition it was in.<\/p>\n

Before you purchase a condo in New York City or any other city for that matter check through the rules and regulations they have concerning upkeep and maintenance of properties. Generally the set of regulations they have are standard but some associations may have more specific ones as well.<\/p>\n

Yes living in a condo, New York City can be fun but it won’t be if you cannot afford to keep up your mortgage payments and maintenance fees on it. Unfortunately the fees charged by a condo association can vary greatly from one to the next and may be dependent on how big the condo is and where it is located. Some may only charge a few dollars to their condo owners each month whilst others may charge them a few hundred.<\/p>\n
