Attention: If you are already listed with Google then if you offer once again, you site would not get listed quicker. In case you have not yet submitted your site, find the page where such submissions are done by searching ‘Google submit’. It is understandable that their page would rank on top of the list but you could attempt several other ways for them to decide on your site.

A successful way to index your site by Google is through important links with other heavy-traffic sites. Using online directories could be the best and fastest way though. Google has the habit of scrutinizing top level directories regularly and when any site has links from these the site also gets noticed quicker.

You can choose between free and paid subscription directories depending on the kind of budget you have as well as your suitability. Any business directory which operates with the same kind of interest area as your business is the best bet since Google pays a lot of importance to similarity before indexing your site. Your business and the business directory ought to operate in the same market.

DMOZ, also known as the Open Directory, is probably one of the most important directories to get listed in if you are interested in good rankings from Google. This is however not the fastest ways to get your site noticed by Google. DMOZ might take weeks or months to enlist you. This is because a category editor personally evaluates every site that is submitted and it all matters where in the line your site is located. One vital point to remember when submitting sites to DMOZ is that you must ensure that you read, understand and follow every piece of guideline and instructions to the tee.

Another good way to get Google to index your site is through writing articles and submitting them to the article submission sites. All of the article sites (the good ones at least) allow you to include a section called “About the Author” or “Author Resource”. This is the place where you insert the link to your site.

Another benefit of writing articles is that when they are good, other sites find it relevant to use them on their sites. They have to use your “About the Author” section so you will get a free link back to your site. This is one successful way to get picked up by Google and if the articles deal with same subject as your business, then chances of increased traffic to your site are far more. Lastly, you definitely can submit directly to Google, but do give the options of directories and article writing a genuine try to get your site indexed.
