If you’re looking for a new computer, you may be wondering where to get started. A simple search online can cause you to come up with so many options that you can easily become overwhelmed.

Would it be better to buy online or at a store like Best Buy or Circuit City? What brand of computer should I buy? Would a laptop or a desktop be better? Questions and more questions.

Starting with a few simple choices, you can vastly narrow down your options, and the answers to the rest of the questions you might have become more clear. Then you can set a good strategy on buying your computer based upon these decisions.

So, first of all, decide what you will use your computer for. If your computer is for business, there will be a whole lot of needs that you will have that are different from someone who is simply buying a computer to surf the net.

One major consideration is whether you would have to ever take the laptop with you. Because a laptop is a much more convenient for traveling. As well it’s important to keep in mind space considerations. For instance a desktop computer really needs a dedicated desk space, while a laptop is just as comfortable on a couch, in bed, or on the back patio.

So, once you’ve decided on a laptop versus a desktop, and get a good idea of the uses and features you’ll need, you’re ready to go shopping.

Once you have your list together, try going to a computer store and getting face to face with an employee who can help you select the best computer for you. Sometimes its just easier to be able to ask good questions that really help you solidify your choices.

The online computer stores offer some pretty interesting possibilities as well. You can configure your computer in many of these computer stores so that it’s almost as good building the computer from scratch. You can choose your own configuration to perfectly create the computer you need. As long as you’ve done your homework ahead of time, you’ll be set to have a great experience, and get the computer you really want and need.
