There are many jobs available for copywriters today. This article will discuss the current and future employment opportunities for copywriters.

There are many copywriting jobs available. Monster.com reported that on February 10, 2007, there were 509 jobs open for copywriters. This represents only a small portion of the demand for good copywriters. The Internet has opened a great new arena for work as well; copywriters are needed to help advertise the many items being sold on the Internet. Copywriting jobs can be found in places with many advertising agencies, such as New York City. But there will also be plenty of options in your local area with smaller advertising agencies. The demand for copywriting is very high and offers great job security knowing that you can always find work.

A copywriter will generally make between $41,000 to $56,000 or more a year. 75% of those polled said they made around $56,000, which roughly illustrates the general income for a copywriter.

Freelance copywriting allows you to make even more money as well. Freelance Copywriting is project-to-project based work. You generally bid on a project posted on a website such as www.elance.com or www.directfreelance.com. You can also set up a profile and post some of your past work so that potential customers can examine the quality of your writing before accepting your bid. This helps you get a project because it builds their confidence in your work. These sites also email you projects that you might be interested in based upon search criteria you can enter into them. This is a great way to make more money as a copywriter.

Copywriting positions are extremely numerous. The demand for copywriters will grow along with the economy over the next decade according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which doesn’t take into account the growing need for Internet Copywriters. Copywriting is a flexible industry that allows you to customize your work with your life either in an advertising agency or as a freelance copywriter.
