Decontamination is a method wherein materials that are dangerous to our health are removed from the environment, buildings, things or even people. There are two primary nature of these hazardous things, these are biological and radiological or chemical. Commonly, this things can pose a threat to an individual but in some circumstances it can be indirect or economic.<\/p>\n

In some cases, decontamination can be done by removing an object physically to the thing where it is associated. Other needs a certain kind of chemical to lessen down the harmful effect of the agent or you can either use a radiation decontamination solutions<\/A> to the job perfectly. Also, there are companies that can handle this kind of mess extremely well so it is way to better if you ask help first.<\/p>\n

If we talk<\/a> about dangerous things that are biological, we are talking about germs, parasites and viruses. To disinfect, there are various methods that can be done which only depends upon the primary cause of the virus why it happens and the kind of object that needs to be disinfected. These factors need to be considered to ensure that it will not harm the object or the person that is infected.<\/p>\n

Human pathogens can be a problem especially if it is in the soil. During World War II, anthrax spores are released to a certain island just to test and monitor the possible effect of biological weapon if used. As a result, the island was closed to the citizens for about 50 years. After several years, they then decontaminated it by the use of large volumes of solution of formaldehyde.<\/p>\n

For objects that are infected with a virus or some kind of radioactive substance, a disinfectant can be used to remove it. In humans, this is not possible due to the fact that it is toxic. One way is to dispose the clothes of an individual that is infected and wash the part of the skin that was exposed<\/p>\n

Buildings does not have life so any chemicals that can destroy the virus is okay. But mostly it should be strong enough to ensure that there will be no residue on the structure. A building even though is not a living thing can still infect a living thing. If this happens, the person should be quarantined temporarily to avoid further infections.<\/p>\n

Soils that contains toxic metals, is a result of industrial pollution. To sanitize it, there are two well known methods that can do the job, it is in situ and ex situ. In situ procedure usually involves electro kinetics and can be extremely complex compared to the second one. Ex situ is basically removing a bulk of soil an area and treat it with chemicals. It can also be done by just washing it and returning it to the spot where it was before.<\/p>\n

For substances that are radioactive, the process of removing should be safe and proper disposal and also physically removing it. Again, if you are unsure on the things you have to do, just leave to the professionals. They have more knowledge on what to do with the substance to clear them out totally.<\/p>\n

Do not just use chemicals if you do not really know what is the use of it. Sometimes these substances can behave in a different way if used inappropriately. Do not hesitate to call some specialists to do these things for you. It is better to spend money and save your life than take the risk and be poisoned.<\/p>\n
