How to Increase Downlines and Reduce Drop Outs

by Rob Pike

One important part of network marketing is what’s called “downline retention.” You can view this similarly to how you would view traffic generation: you can take two approaches-you can either recycle traffic, so that it comes back; or you can constantly pump fresh traffic into the site. Ideally, however, you want both mechanisms to be working, as that will not only generate more traffic, but it will also keep more traffic on your site. This is true with network marketing.

At this point, however, you have a rough idea of how to gain that new traffic; and further, how to convert that traffic into members of your network. The next step is to retain those new members by training them and reducing dropouts-which go hand-in-hand.

You should start by developing some type of course, which starts by covering the absolute basics of network marketing-and the moves to the more complex, harder-to-understand parts. Additionally, if your goal is to retain network members, you shouldn’t attempt excessive upselling in your course. Rather, only suggest what you believe is absolutely necessary; and only what you believe will affect the best possible results for someone who is either an average or below average network marketer.

Now, in addition to producing a course, you may also want to create a manual of some sort. You can send this to each member of your network immediately upon joining. This can be a more comprehensive field guide that directs them through any potential problem they run into as a new network marketer.

Last, you will want to make yourself accessible to everyone whoever needs help. You might offer your email address to all of your new network members in a personal email you send to everyone; or you might even allow them to contact you by phone. These are all considerations you want to make, as the more accessible you are, the more trusted you will be; and the more likely people are to take your advice and stick around.

How to Build a Successful Network Marketing Business

by Rob Pike

In addition to all of the conventional ways to expand your network marketing business, you will also want to pull out all of the stops and use less-conventional, smaller, and harder-to-apply methods for finding new members for your network. For instance, if you started off by selling your product as an Internet-based network marketer, you probably haven’t done any offline presentations at all. Nor have you probably put much thought into offline promotional methods.

This creates an interesting issue: while it is much easier and often less expensive to advertise online, if you’re advertising an Internet-based network online, the online market will probably be heavily saturated; whereas the offline market may have never been exposed to it at all.

One way in which you can advertise to the offline market is to create a cleanly designed flyer and post it in various public places where it is permissible. Remember to use the problem-solution model. Start off by targeting people who have a problem (i.e. people who need extra money) and then explain who, using several bullet points, they can solve that problem by joining your network.

Another way in which you can advertise offline is to design and purchase a box of business cards for your network marketing opportunity. Having your name on a business card for what appears to be a legitimate opportunity is one of the best ways you can look professional and trustworthy, which is unbelievably important in this specific market. You can then distribute these business cards to people you meet at seminars; and you can also even leave them at businesses, provided that they allow you to do so.

Last, you can also make an attempt to become a speaker at an offline seminar event. This will help you to gain credibility and also to begin creating interest in your specific methods of networking and promotion.

How Mascots Around the World are Similar

by Amy Nutt

Mascots around the world are used for similar events in most countries. Almost all countries utilize mascots for some if not all of their sporting events. Football (American version), basketball, rugby, hockey, and especially soccer widely use mascots for college and professional games. Soccer is one of the most widely popular sports world-wide, so mascots are heavily used in these sporting events. Some teams use the soccer ball itself and dress it up as a personified mascot. Mascots can look very similar to each other and very different in various nations. Animal mascots are some of the most popularly used for sports on an international basis: – bears – birds – whales – sharks – crocodiles – alligators – tigers – bulls – rhinoceroses – dogs – wolves – cats – frogs

Mascots and the Militaries of Countries The military in most countries hold their own kind of mascots. Many nations have animal mascots associated with either the enter military, or like the United States one branch of the military. The bulldog is the official mascot of the United States Marine Corps. The current incarnation of the military mascot is “Lance Corporal Molly,” who resides at a recruiting depot in San Diego, CA.

Throughout England and Wales there are different animal mascots to represent the various branches. The Royal Regiment of Wales uses a live, white goat as its mascot. The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment has the ram as its mascot. Its current incarnation is Derby XXVIII, which was given in 2005 to the Duke of Devonshire. It is also known as “Private Derby.” The Black Buck Antelope is the mascot of The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers, a branch of the British army. Ireland has the Irish Wolfhound as its mascot for the Irish Guards. It was presented to them by the Irish Wolfhound Club. The Club was hoping to boost the public’s interest in the breed.

How Mascots Around the World are Different

Mascots do differ around the world and can be used for very different types of events. Several countries around the world have festivals and parades that are indigenous to particular areas of the globe. Tropical places like Jamaica, Trinidad, and many West Indies islands have parades and carnivals. They have parades to celebrate tribal people. Sometimes troops of people from many countries including the United States and the UK will dress up in exotic outfits our “tribalwear” and act as mascots for the events. Many of the costumes are very ornate involving a lot of beadwork, face paint, and sometimes bikini or loin cloth style outfits. The outfits come in an array of beautiful colors and contribute to a festive feel for the event. These human mascots can either walk or dance in parades, or visit with people who come to watch the parades. They are very interactive with the crowds and do this as a profession. Many undergo classes that teach them the art of being a mascot. Some are indigenous to their own country, while many troops travel to different carnivals and parades to perform as mascots around the world.

Mascots that are Meaningful to Multiple Countries

It may be hard to believe that there are mascots that are meaningful to multiple countries. Some may have the same mascots, but maybe a different style of the same mascot. An example of this is Ronald McDonald. Many countries such as China and France use him as a mascot for the McDonald’s Restaurant. However, the style that is used may be very different that of the United States. France has recently run commercials of both a young woman and a young man dressed up in modern fashion that still resembles the clown’s outfit. China recently featured a cartoon version of some of the McDonald’s characters in cartoon form using Chinese children in the background.

Also, the Olympics are a time when the whole world shares mascots in like kind. The 2010 Olympics that are to be held in Canada already feature three mascots that will be shared globally: Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi. The characters are patterned after Japanese anime styling.

Using “Micro-Hooks” In Copywriting

by Million Dollar Mike Morgan

Want to know a secret I’ve rarely revealed?

Sure you know about hooks… but how about “mico-hooks”? That’s how we get people reading our ads.

And since you know the more people read, the more they buy, you’ll want to sprinkle “micro-hooks” in your advertising to jack up your readership, your conversion rates and your bottom line.

People are by and large curious. And I like to use that fact to my advantage when writing salescopy.

In fact, when things are left incomplete, people feel downright uncomfortable at least until the loop is completed and closure is brought about.

This is basic human psychology and in marketing, you use this psychology to your advantage.

Mark Joyner talkes about this phenomena in his book Mind Control Marketing. It’s called the Zeigarnik Effect.

I wrote the copy for Mark’s 7 Day Business Turnaround and used many of these powerful devices.

Here’s a sample:

In one section of copy, I needed to write about the precise 4 steps for a turnaround.

and after that I wrote:

“That’s it. Pretty simple… at least on the outside. With that strategy alone, you could engineer a turnaround. If you know the tactics to accomplish each step, my work is done here. Go forth and execute. If you don’t… keep reading to uncover your answer. Okay, seems pretty simple doesn’t it?”

But here’s the brilliance of this tiny little hook. Most people don’t have a clue of the tactics they need to implement to excecute the strategy.

But they were told that if they didn’t, they should just keep reading and the answer would be revealed.

Do you think that made people uncomfortable?

You bet it did, because if they were in need of a business turnaround, they HAD TO KNOW THE ANSWER.

How about another sample…

Later, I showed the mechanism that made turnarounds work.

Then I wrote:

“That’s the process for your 7 Day Turnaround. It’s the same thing a Fortune 500 would do, just made so bloody simple a 2nd grade teacher could do it (more about that in a minute)”

How about that?

How in the world could anyone resist something that simple?

And the words “more on that in a minute” literally hooked them into reading until they found out!

If you can Google the letter and read it… it’s a great tutorial on these “micro-hooks”.

There’s at least a half dozen of them. It’s a virtual clinic on writing and implementing these sneaky little hook tricks.

Now, one more thing you need to know.

If you’re utilizing this tactic, you need to make certain you CLOSE THE LOOP.

If you make people too uncomfortable, they will leave. So make sure you fulfill the promise for more… or you are just another “lying marketer”.

If the loop remains open, not only will they view you as a liar… you’ve ruined the buying climate.

One more thing. Don’t give readers ALL the answers in your salescopy. That’s an itch only the product should scratch.

How Global And Domestic Marketing Differ

by Linda P. Morton

Global and domestic marketing varies considerably because people differ by countries.

The principles of marketing may be very similar, but the marketing research technique that is commonly used to target a market requires national and cultural specific characteristics.

To market globally well, you must learn characteristics of the people in each nation and culture. The best way is through market segmentation.

Global and Domestic Marketing: Targets Different Types of People

Different cultures within the USA, and across the world, are going to have different buying habits. This presents a problem when you are trying to sell a product across nations.

It’s difficult enough to market across cultures within the USA, but the difficulty intensifies when marketing across nations.

Global and Domestic Marketing: Demographic Characteristics Vary By Nation and Culture

Demographic segments vary across the world. For example, some characteristics for Generation Y in the USA may be similar worldwide, but most will be quite different.

The World War II generation in the USA was influenced by the second world war just like most people in the Western world. However, the influence of Pearl Harbor on the USA WWII generation was greater than for those in the rest of the world.

So you can’t take characteristics that best define a USA generation and transfer those characteristics world wide.

Global and Domestic Marketing: People From Different Nations Think Differently

Psychographic characteristics also differ by nations. For one reason, culture, morals, values and attitudes are learned within a society. Different nations develop different social pressures and expectations. They teach different values and attitudes within families and schools.

Every nation’s culture differs so what is valued, expected, desired, and feared vary by nation.

Consider a change within USA attitudes. Not that long ago a man’s wife and children were considered his property, and he had the right to abuse them in anyway that he saw fit. The USA and state governments didn’t interfere. But that is not the case today. A man can be convicted for raping his wife, and children are frequently taken away from parents who abuse or even neglect them. But in some nations, a man still has the right to abuse his wife and children. Even murdering them is socially acceptable and legal in some nations.

Thus, how people think, what they consider to be right and wrong, what they fear and value differ from nation to nation.

Global and Domestic Marketing: Buying Habits Are Nationally Specific

Each nation’s economic well-being influences buying habits of its citizens.

Obviously, the people in some nations have more spending power and more discretionary income than those in other nations. But even among comparatively wealthy nations, people spend differently.

Take grocery shopping as an example. In many prosperous European nations, people still buy fresh groceries from local markets and purchase every day for that day’s meals.

But in the USA, we buy from large chains that freeze, can, dehydrate and process in other ways so that food lasts for a long time. Then we buy at least enough for a week at a time, and some people buy for a month at a time. We think shopping everyday would be a terrible inconvenience and that we are just too busy with our careers and family to spend that much time buying groceries.

People in some nations probably think that USA residents have their priorities messed up to avoid spending their time buying and preparing fresh, healthy foods.

So if we differ so much on something as basic as food, just think how our other buying habits differ.

Global and Domestic Marketing: Conclusion

No business can design one marketing campaign and successfully use it across nations.

Successful marketing campaigns must be redesigned for each nation. This requires that marketers have to learn as much as possible about people in each nation.

In order for businesses in all nations to improve their business and national economies, the world needs to share specific characteristics that cause people to respond to marketing campaigns differently. When that happens global and domestic marketing opportunities will become more equal.

Home Loan Guidelines and You

by Ethan Hunter

There are a few things that you will need to know when you are getting ready to go for a mortgage. What are the home guidelines and do you meet them?

While each loan company and bank has varying qualifying guidelines, stipulations, and demands of its customers, there are a few that are always the same – know if you qualify for the loan of your dreams before you go in, and you’ll be prepared.

Understanding Factors of Home Loan Guidelines

The factors associated with home loan guidelines will vary in that no two are the same. Although there are strong similarities among some, there are differences. Therefore, it will boil down to where you go to secure a mortgage loan and the guidelines they specifically use.

The basic guides, however, are fairly simple, and are usually at every loan company. If you qualify for these, you can go on, and look at more specific loans, and guidelines.

Your income

Should be enough so that you are able to pay all of your bills and your mortgage too. If you have a lot of debt and bills, you may not be ready to own your own home.

This is one of the most basic home loan guidelines, and stretches to every loan company and home loan, without question.

Your Ability…

The second thing is the lender will determine if you are able to live within your means. That means paying bills on time and not going too far into debt.

If you earn $3500 a month in income, a loan company would love your spending to be $3000 – $3250 a month so that you have a good chunk so that you are living inside your means.

On the other hand, if you were earning the same amount of money but the amount of bills going out is $3,600, then you are over what you can afford to pay, or living outside your means. This is one of the basics seen with home loan guidelines that lenders will consider.

In Summary

These are basic home loan guidelines that you may or may not meet. You will probably be able to get a home loan if you are living within your means and are able to pay your bills.

Each loan for homes do vary, so you will want to talk to your loan agent about your home loan spending guidelines are.
