3 Steps To Better Time Management

Managing your time effectively is a skill that can take many, many years to perfect. However, there are some simple steps you can take to begin putting your time to better use each day. In this article I will give you three simple steps to set you off on the right path.

Step 1 – Your ideal day

It is natural that we think about time on a day-to-day basis. Each day is a time unit that can be identified and choices made quite easily, so this is a good place to start. First I encourage you to imagine your ideal day. Think about how it would begin, what you would do, your working environment, the people you spend time with, everything about your day. Your goal is to spend your days in this way.

Step 2 – Keep a time log

In Step 1 you looked at the dream, now you need to look at the reality. You need to figure out how you really spend your days. Not just how you think you spend them, but tracking exactly what you spend your time on and writing it down in a time log. If you keep this up for a week you will clearly see how you spend your time.

Step 3 – Prioritize and plan

When you look at your time log you will see that there are many things that you spend your time on that are a waste. Maybe they are unnecessary; maybe you don’t enjoy them; or maybe you will spot a more time-effective way of getting something done. In any case, you should be able to remove a lot of things from your average day that are a waste of your time. Keep the things that are important to you, the rest can go.

Now, I invite you to make a time plan for each day that includes only things that you enjoy and that are an effective use of your time. Once you start doing this, you will be a lot closer to managing your time effectively.

Adobe Acrobat Bookmarks

When we run classes on Adobe Acrobat at our London training centre, one of the first things we cover is the use of bookmarks. Most people agree that PDFs are brilliant but they can sometimes be rather difficult and tedious to navigate. Enter bookmark: they are clickable headings which link to specific parts of the PDF document and allow you to move around a lot more quickly than scrolling or moving one page at a time.

When you distribute PDFs containing key information about your services or products, you want to make sure that your readers can find important facts as quickly as possible. Including bookmarks in your PDF files can make them more attractive and useful to potential customers.

The bookmarks panel is one of Acrobat’s navigation panels normally displayed on the left of the Acrobat Reader screen. To make bookmarks visible, click on the bookmark icon or choose View – Navigation Panels – Bookmarks. Clicking on a bookmark will move you to the page that it links to.

Bookmarks cannot be created using Acrobat Reader: you will need Acrobat Professional or Acrobat Standard, the versions of Acrobat you have to pay for. But, for the most part, you will also need one of these two bits of software to create your PDF as well.

Having created the PDF, open it with Acrobat Standard or Professional and open the Bookmarks panel. Then navigate to the first page that you want your readers to be able to find easily, choose New Bookmark from the Options menu located in the top right of the Bookmarks panel. Finally, enter a name for the bookmark. Repeat this procedure to create as many bookmarks as you want.

If this all sounds a bit tedious then let’s look at a few ways of speeding things up. Firstly, instead of typing a name for a bookmark, you can use the selection tool (located next to the hand tool on the toolbar) to highlight some text on the page then, when you choose New Bookmark, the highlighted text will be used as the name of the bookmark. Also, you can use the keyboard shortcut for New Bookmark: Control-B.

It is also possible to generate bookmarks automatically. For example, PDFMaker, a utility for Microsoft Office 97, 2002 and 2003 which is automatically installed along with Acrobat Standard or Professional producing an extra menu in Office programs called “Adobe PDF” and an “Adobe PDFMaker” toolbar.

When you create a PDF using the Acrobat PDFMaker, any paragraphs formatted with a Word heading style, e.g., “Heading 1”, “Heading 2”, etc., will automatically create PDF bookmarks as do all entries in tables of content and indexes. In the same way, if you PDF an Excel workbook with the PDFMaker, bookmarks to each sheet will be automatically generated. In PowerPoint, too, bookmarks to every slide in the presentation will be automatically generated.

The major DTP packages will also automatically create PDF bookmarks based on styles, indexes and tables of content), in much the same way as Word. This applies to QuarkXPress, InDesign and Serif PagePlus. If you own one of these three software applications, you don’t actually need to have a copy of Acrobat to create your PDF files, since this capability is built-in to each of these brilliant programs.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that bookmarks only be used to link to a particular page within the PDF document. (They can do tons of other things as well.) In any case, they actually link to a view not a page. Thus, for example, if a page in your PDF file contains a map, you can zoom in on the map till it fills the screen and create a bookmark of that view. When your user clicks the bookmark, he or she will be taken to the zoom level that was current when you created the bookmark.

A wealth making system that gave us our freedom

I got up from the campfire, and walked over to the field to get a better look at this beautiful northern sky. The stars were big and brighter than ever, thousands of them. It’s like a magic window to the universe opens when the sun goes down up here in this part of the country.

It stays so light for so long up here it’s easy to forget the time, just put more wood on the campfire, kick back with an ale, and contemplate the day we all had, and before you know it you realize it’s midnight. It happens all the time when your up here doing this with your friends.

I want to get up and take a walk in the morning. The road out front follows the lake for a couple of miles, and it feels good to get out after coffee and get some exercise before getting the boat ready for a day of walleye fishing. This lake is called Shagawa, and I always have good luck.

After we leave here we’ll make our way down and find a place to camp in a state or national forest for a few days before moving on again, slowly making our way back home. There is no rush, we all work for ourselves, and do pretty darn good making a lot of money on the internet.

All of us love the summer. We live for these months of the year. We have made a vow to make sure each of us make the money through out the year to have this freedom. Almost six years ago we encouraged and helped one another to make money in a home business using the internet.

This was the best decision we made. After a while we were leaving our going no where jobs where we got only one to two weeks vacation, and got serious making some plans. Now we’re all working from home, and as we kept putting our heads together we started making more money.

People will contact your customer service to ask questions about your business or products. Did you know you can increase your orders by training your customer service to actually sell products?

You should include your signature file with all the questions you answer by e-mail. Your signature file should be no longer than 5 lines, 65 characters per line. Include your contact information, business name and an attention getting headline.
