It might seem silly to want to be a professional poker player. To others however, there is no other profession desired. Poker, to the rest, is a fun pastime that can be financially rewarding as well as a confidence boost.

For those of us who wish to make money from playing poker, professionally or otherwise, it is necessary to know a few simple rules of the game. The most important rule, when playing a game like poker, is to know your opponents. Knowing the other players and the signs the players provide telling you whether they have a good hand or a poor one, will help you become the best poker player you can be.

These signs that players have are called tells. It is almost like holding your hand so everyone can see what cards you have when you have a tell. Facial expressions that come when you have a winning or losing hand to how you bet are different tells.

Beginner tells that most players who have been playing for a while and will no longer convey are facial expressions like surprise or anguish. A rudimentary law of poker is knowing your own facial expressions and controlling them. If you are playing with seasoned players, you cannot always trust this type of tell.

The most basic of tells is betting which most people cannot control consciously. Aggressive betting is forcing other players to bet on a hand that is known to be a losing hand. In most cases, aggressive playing is a good move.

In the cases where it is a good choice to play aggressively, the bettor usually has a very low hand that might win, like an ace in the hole. Another time this is a good play is when the other players do not have as many chips as you have. If the other players, or at least one of them, has a better amount of chips, that player can equally force you to bet all in when you do not have a winning hand.

Pay equal attention to the other players’ tells and the other characteristics of the game. An important characteristic you should watch is what cards are in the window, or the community cards, and how the other players are betting on them. It is a good idea to fold your hand if the window and the betting show that someone has a sure-fire winner.

If you have a matching pair in your hole, the face-down cards you were dealt in the beginning of the round, then it is a good hand. Even if the cards are a pair of twos, it is a hand with which you can be aggressive. With the chances of getting a pair being so much higher than the chances of getting two pair, bluffing with a pair usually wins.

If you have only an ace in the hole, and no other player seems to want to bet more than the minimum, then the chances are that they do not have a pair. With this, you can bet, but not aggressively, unless you enjoy risks and have enough money to back up your adventuresome nature. There is always the chance that the window will reveal a pair to an opponent.

You might get a flush if your two hole cards are of a matching suit and at least two more of the flop cards are of the same suit because the turn or the river, the last two cards dealt, might give you the fifth of that suit. However, remember that it is just as hard to pull a flush as it is an inside straight. Have a backup plan for that hand if you are going to bet because there is a less than .5% chance of getting either a flush or a straight.

If you feel comfortable with the play, it is a good play. After you have been playing with players who have a little knowledge of the game for a while, you will be able to tell what to do right when you are dealt the first two cards. Always remember, the most important rule; watch for your tells and others.

It is always beneficial to mail through opt-in email lists as the response is much more profitable in these lists.

Permission based email marketing is not spam, because you will only send emails to those customers and prospects that give you permission to send communications to. Sending spam can ruin your organization’s reputation and brand value regardless of your company’s size, scope, or current image. Compared to spamming, permission-based email marketing is more effective, less intrusive and is received by prospects easier. People can opt-in through a form on your web page, in personal meetings where they add their name, email address and check a “consent” box, or over the phone when it’s possible to record proof of the conversation. There are two forms of opt-in mailings, single opt-in and double opt-in.

A single opt-in list is created by inviting members to join via a web form; once they submit the form, they’re signed up for the list. A double opt-in requires two explicit actions on the part of the recipient granting permission: First, the recipient must formally opt in by filling in a web form with their name and email address. Next, the recipient will receive a subsequent email confirming if you want to receive further information clicking a link thus confirming that they want to receive your communications. It’s the most stringent form of opt-in but ensures that your recipients are who they say they are, and really want to sign up for your communications.

Every permission based email marketing campaign should allow the subscriber (i.e. the person who has give you permission to contact them via email) to “opt-out” of your email list. That is, always provide the subscriber the option of ending the relationship.

If you want to be an Internet marketer with an effective opt-in listing, you must treat your leads like human being-complete with emotion, calling them by their first name (you can actually automate that!), and making them know that beyond marketing, you genuinely care about them. This is not something you do to flatter. It will not pan out properly if you are not as sincere in creating a personal touch to your business.

The theory of reciprocity is often attributed to Dr. Robert. B. Cialdini. Through numerous experiments and by observing human behavior, Cialdini noticed that when something generous was done for a person, that person often felt motivated to reciprocate the goodwill. This tendency of human behavior is directly applicable to your permission based email marketing campaigns.
