Four Secrets For Creating a Great Customer Service Experience

by Cary Cavitt

Every person in the world will play the role of a customer throughout his or her life. From early on each of us becomes acquainted with being the customer and having others wait on us. No matter where we go, we are always prepared to take on the role of the customer and be served by another person. Look at a typical week and we discover just how much time is spent on being a customer.

Simply reflect on the past experiences that we have had as a customer and we will soon find that some people are better at customer service than others. We will also discover that most of our customer service experiences are average at best. There will be those moments when we are given the honor of being served by a customer service superstar. But on average, service in America usually leaves us with the impression that we are interrupting the person responsible for taking care of our needs.

In order to offer an excellent service experience, the person responsible for serving must genuinely care about the customer. If a service representative is simple working for a paycheck and not serving from a sincere and caring heart, the service will more than likely be perceived as average and quickly forgotten. Here’s an important point to remember:

“Providing five-star service can only happen when we genuinely care about exceeding our customer’s needs. Without caring about our customer, the service being provided simply becomes an act of following a job description.”

When we try to make the experience for the customer as pleasant as possible, he or she will perceive the service provided as first-rate. Customers will perceive our service as being excellent when they feel that we had their best interest in mind. This is serving with the right intentions. Let’s now look at four practical ways we can show our customers that we care.

1. Five-star service is simply showing kindness

Being courteous to our customers should be a given for every customer service representative. It would seem only logical that anyone who is working out in front with customers would be hospitable. It only takes one employee to sink a business if he or she is consistently being inconsiderate to customers.

2. Five-star service is being urgent

The next key in providing excellent service is to show our customers that their needs demand a sense of urgency. By this I mean that we respect our customers by seeing their request as important and give them the positive impression that we will quickly take care of it. We need to consider each request as a pressing matter that should be taken care of in an efficient and professional manner.

3. Five-star service is simply serving from the heart

When all is said and done, customers will rate our service based on whether or not they sensed that we cared about their experience. This is the power of genuinely caring about others. When the customer senses that we truly care about them, they will give us higher ratings for the service being provided. We must remember that customers ultimately make a judgment on the overall service based primarily on emotions.

4. Five-star service is a team effort

The sky truly is the limit when an organization has a team that is passionate about creating great service. This is because each team member plays a key role in how well the service will be perceived. It is important to understand that every employee is a reflection of not only the organization, but also of each other. In order to provide five-star service, we must first start by creating a team that is excited to serve.

Offering an excellent service experience involves creating a memorable experience that makes each customer want to come back again. These great service teams understand the importance of showing each customer appreciation. Projecting this attribute will go a long way in also making our customers feel like VIP’s . This really is the secret if we are to consistently win them.

Delivering five-star service happens when we enjoy serving others. By enjoying the process of helping others, we will make a major step in offering others a five-star experience. One of the best qualities found in organizations that offer excellent service is having a group of people who have caught the vision of the importance of treating others with respect. And when we truly enjoy serving, our profession becomes less of a job and more of an enjoyable experience for both our team and our customers.

Securing Your Home and Business With a Camera Security System

by Ray Lam

When you monitor your home or office with closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, it’s like you have an entire television network devoted to the safety of your home. CCTV broadcasts your security surveillance on a private in-home network. Unlike broadcast television, CCTV components are hooked directly to each other via cables or direct wireless means. Already popular in large public places where security is heightened, such as at airports or casinos, CCTV surveillance systems are becoming more and more widely used in private home settings as well.

In at least one high profile case recently, a rapist and murderer of a child was caught on a surveillance security camera and the evidence caught on the videotape convicted him. It is unfortunate that the security camera was not manned by a human security guard who could perhaps have acted in time to prevent the disaster.

Another important development is that CCTV also facilitate remote monitoring i.e. you do not have to be on site to view the images. So it is possible to view real time images of what is happening back home from your work place or on holiday, you need to type in the URL of the server that controls the wireless cameras from any browser. You can see these images just as easily on your mobile phone. Some security companies will also provide a service that monitors the premises for you, so you effectively are renting the equipment. That way you can keep up with any major technical advances.

You can set up a wireless security camera for remote viewing or for videotaping. This allows you to monitor what’s going on at home even if you can’t be there all the time.

CCTV video surveillance is subject to the laws regarding a person?s right to privacy. We strongly believe that CCTV security is a powerful addition to your home security system. Your home is your castle, and you have the right to protect it. However, you want to remain on the right side of the law. Therefore, when installing a CCTV system in your home, it is important that you are certain of the legality of your surveillance. Consult with a lawyer or your local law enforcement to ensure that you are meeting all the requirements of local, state, and federal CCTV laws.

Free Music To Download For iPod – What You Need To Know

by Davion W

Are you like one of the million users who are looking for free music to download for iPod? Like what I said, you are normal. Everyday, there are plenty of online searches for resources or places where one can download iPod music for free.

By now, there are millions of users who own this cool MP3 player. Surely, this large community would not mind packing their gadgets with songs and music they can transfer for free. The question is where you can find free music to download for iPod. Here are some tips to get you started.

1. Format of File

Before you get all too excited, there is one thing you need to know. The iPod only reads and plays files in the following formats – AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV. So prior to downloading any piece of music, be sure to check if the site supports the formats.

Of course, you can always go to another site with other file formats but you will then need to use a file format conversion application to convert the songs. It can prove to be an expensive and time-consuming exercise.

2. Music Genres

There are both specialist sites that deal with specific genre as well as general sites that offer multiple genres like Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Rock and Classical. If I were you, I will choose a general site with a wide range of genres.

3. Safe To Use

Next, ensure that the site is safe to use. There have been so many complaints from users about downloading adware, spyware and getting their PCs exposed to viruses. Reputable sites like Macidol, iLounge and iCompositions do provide some quality GarageBand music as well as songs from lesser known groups.

As with any kind of file transfer online, there are risks involved when you find free music to download for iPod. As an added layer of PC protection, consider installing anti-virus on your PC.

by Jim Carpenter

In order to take your online business to the next level it is crucial that you have a website that not only looks great but which visitors will find easy to navigate as well. If you intend to use the services of a Wilmington web design or an internet marketing Delaware company it is important that you keep certain things in mind as you carry out your search.

However, before you go looking for your perfect web design service you need to first think about how much you are willing to invest in this part of your business. It is important to keep in mind that this is the first thing any potential new client will see when they come to your online business. Certainly the more professional ones website looks then the more trusting new customers are going to be and will often be more willing to make a purchase from you.

Many companies do offer to design and build sites relatively cheaply but often they will use a standard format that you yourself may be able to get hold of and which have been used on hundreds of other websites. The problem with using the sites which have been mass produced is that the chances of problems arising once they are up and running is increased.

Yet you could spend tens of thousands of dollars on a site and don’t expect them to be any better than those which have been mass produced. Certainly there are plenty of people who are willing to take your money and then use a mass produced website in order to create one for you. So you need to be wary and it is important that you carry out as much research before you choose a web design service to use.

In this article we offer some advice with regards to what you should be looking for when trying to select the right Wilmington web design or internet marketing Delaware service for your business.

1. Firstly you need to make contact with the web design services that you have placed on a short list of those you are considering using. Make initial contact by phone or email and then wait to see how long it takes them to respond to you. If you have not heard from them within 48 hours there are many reasons why this could be. They may be too busy or they may be understaffed or aren’t well organized. If you find out it is because of the last two reasons then avoid this service altogether and move on to the next choice on your list.

2. Following making contact with the company it is an ideal time to actually starting doing a little more research into the company that you are considering using. Look carefully at their portfolio which you should be able to easily inspect by visiting their own website. What is important is that you spend time carefully looking at the different levels of service that they offer to their clients. Okay they offer something cheap and cheerful but the problem with this is it will make your business look that way as well. Instead spend an extra few dollars on getting something that really gives a professional air to yours.

3. Another way to test if a web design service really does know what it is doing is through spending time looking closely at their own website. What is the design like, what level and quality of content does it contain and just how user friendly is the site to navigate around. Certainly a service where their site looks great and is easy to use will ensure that they are a web design service that can create the exact same for you.

Why Internet Forums Are Popular

by Chris Channing

Online forums let users express just about everything possible. Such forums have many purposes, from educating others to giving some a place to rant and learn more on hot topics in society. Some forums even reward members through innovative new programs and scripts geared to give users more for their time.

If everyone kept their opinions to themselves, the world would be quite the desolate and boring place- especially the Internet. Luckily Internet forums give everyone who wants to use their voice a way to do so. Progressing one’s views on life, politics, sciences, or even something like web development or programming is now very possible because of the forum systems available today.

It wouldn’t seem like giving one’s own opinion over the Internet would be worth anything, but indeed it can help give those who post on online forums a little extra income each month. This income comes through various ways, such as the revenue sharing systems that some forums have intact. A revenue sharing system will share revenue gained through ads to users of the forum, earning them money as they post new threads.

Science forums have been around for a long time- in fact, they were on the Internet before the majority of other types of forum categories. Science forums are great for all walks of life- whether it be the professional scientist or the 18-year old university student trying to find new information for the next report or grade assignment. Science forums are also great for consumers looking to keep entertained and better their education on their downtime.

Forums have become so popular that most will see that there are more people registered for a single forum than are present in an entire developed town. Some forums can reach as high as tens of thousands of users, who contribute information every day on a continual basis. Obviously, this is a dream for those who like keeping informed on the latest information to hit the Internet.

A rapidly growing community on the Internet is the open source movement, which states that technology is going to progress faster if we all share code and information instead of hording it. But these individuals need to track additions or problems in the program being developed- meaning forums are a great solution for the problem. Other business solutions such as this are also very popular.

Final Thoughts

Online forums will continue to thrive as more and more users get connected to the Internet. To build your own reputation up and get known for your expertise, search around for the best niche forums that pertains to your interests. And if possible, join multiple forums so as to get the most effect from forum benefits.

What You Need to Know about Identity Theft

by Michael Benifez

Identity theft is becoming the fastest growing crime problem in the United States, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Criminals commit identity theft by stealing and using the names, addresses, bank account information, credit card numbers, and Social Security numbers of almost 10 million Americans each year, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Learning about how thieves can get your information is the first step in protecting yourself from becoming an identity theft victim.

At the Corporate Level

The biggest headlines about identity theft tend to happen when thieves hack consumer databases and steal hundreds – or even thousands of names. Thats not the only way that identity theft can happen at the corporate level, however. Outsiders can con or bribe an employee to get information. Identity theft can also happen from the inside. This happens when an insider, like an employee or a contractor, gets hold of credit reporting information and confidential personal data. Insiders also can steal information from the employers trash or files.

At the Personal Level

Identity theft doesn’t receive as much publicity when it happens to an individual. The number of ways it can happen at this level, however, are just as distressing as when it happens to a corporation. The simplest method for a criminal to get your information is from stealing or finding your wallet, digging through your trash, or looking over your shoulder as you use the ATM.

There also are more complex ways to get your information. More sophisticated methods criminals may use include looking for the information of people who have died recently, stealing your mail, or getting your credit card information through ‘skimming’. ‘Skimming’ involves using an electronic device to steal your information. This can happen when you use your credit card to buy something, and the person uses a skimmer to access your information. This device also has been found on some ATMs.

Criminals also may try to get your information through phishing. This is one of the methods that receives the most publicity for identity theft. Phishers will create a website that looks like the site of a legitimate business, and then send out e-mails to try to lure people to enter their personal data on this site.

After Your Identity Is Stolen

After stealing your personal data, the identity thief will start using your identity and will pose as you. Less experienced criminals will go on a spending spree with your credit cards, will open new cards in your name, and may write checks or open cell phone accounts.

More sophisticated thieves won’t just steal your money. They’ll use your identity to do anything they want and get anything they need. These criminals will get personal identification, like a driver’s license or Social Security card, and use it to take out loans, open bank accounts, and get out of making payments on debts that they created in your name. To make things even worse, some of these criminals will use your name and identity when they are arrested.

The Best Defense

Although nobody is entirely protected from identity theft, there are precautions you can take to help reduce the chances that you will become a victim.

1. Protect Your Social Security Number

Your Social Security number is the most important piece of personal information you have. Never print your Social Security number on any form of personal identification, and never have it pre-printed on your checks. Don’t carry your Social Security card with you, and try to avoid using your Social Security number to identify you. Even though may agencies and organizations ? like colleges, medical providers, and your employer – request that you give them your Social Security number, reconsider whether you want to give it to them. It’s impossible to tell who will have access to that number.

2. Protect Your Mail

You can help make your mailbox less attractive to criminals by reducing the amount of unsolicited offers (like credit card offers) that you get in the mail. You can opt out of credit card offers and insurance offers by calling 1-888-5OPT-OUT or by logging on to www.optoutprescreen.com. You can choose to opt out for five years or to permanently opt you. Shred offers you do receive before you throw them out.

Cancel mail delivery when you go on vacation. Mail sitting in your mailbox can be attractive to criminals both those who want to rob your house and who want to steal your identity.

Also protect your outgoing mail. Put mail in a secure mailbox like the blue U.S. Postal Service boxes and don’t leave it in your mailbox at home. Don’t include information in any mail that someone could steal and use against you. For example: Only write the last four digits of your account number and not the whole thing. Your creditor can identify your account with those last four numbers, but they won’t help a criminal steal your identity.

3. Protect Your Trash

Many things that you throw out – including credit card offers, bank and credit statements, bills, and ATM receipts have your personal information. Thieves can collect this information and use it for identity theft. You can minimize the chances of this happening by shredding your mail before you toss it. You should also cut up old credit cards before putting them in the trash.

4. Be Careful on the Telephone

You may receive calls from high-pressure callers who promise you a fabulous vacation at an unbelievable price, all in exchange for your personal information. Remember that you should never give personal information over the phone if you did not initiate the call. You can limit the number of this type of phone call by joining the national Do Not Call registry. You also can simply hang up anytime you receive a call for something that seems too good to be true.

5. Protect Your Computer

Don’t respond to unsolicited requests for information; your bank will not e-mail you to get personal information. Protect your computer with a password and change it often. Don’t share your password with anyone, including your friends and loved ones. You also may find it helpful to run a Google search periodically for your name and the last four numbers of your Social Security number. What you might find may surprise you.

6. Protect Your Wallet

Write “Photo ID Required” or something similar on the backs of your credit cards instead of signing them for additional protection of identity theft. It will be more difficult for a thief to buy things with your stolen credit cards if you do this. You also should copy everything in your wallet and store the information in a secure location like a home safe or a filing cabinet. If your wallet is lost or stolen, you?ll have all the information you need to cancel your credit cards.

7. Protect Your Deceased Relatives

Unfortunately, even the dead are not safe from identity theft. When a loved one dies, you should get at least 12 copies of the official death certificate. Use this to notify all banking institutions, insurance companies, and creditors that your loved one has died. Make sure to remove the person’s name from all joint accounts.

You also should contact the credit reporting bureaus and request a “deceased” alert. This will put a notation on your loved one’s credit report that they have died and cannot be issued a line of credit.

8. Report Any Suspicious Activity

You should review your credit reports at least once a year and contact creditors and the credit bureaus immediately if you see anything that looks suspicious, including information that is incorrect.

Contact the police if you ever suspect that someone has made an attempt to steal your identity. You should file a police report and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can contact the FTC at 1-877-IDTHEFT.

What’s Next?

Having your identity stole can be devastating and frustrating. Identity thieves are skilled at finding potential targets and using that information to hurt you. You must stay alert and knowledgeable to protect yourself from such thieves.
