When I got my first computer back in the 80’s, things were a lot different. Small 12″ black and white monitors were the norm. And the CRT(Cathode-Ray Tube) Monitor became the norm. Boy how times have changed the look of computers.

If you’ve still got that bulky monitor on your desk, now might be the time to upgrade to an LCD monitor. They’re smaller, cheaper and actually bigger than your old CRT monitor.

First off, one of the main benefits of LCD monitors is that they take up much less space than a normal monitor. They can still give you roughly the same viewable area, while being a fraction of the depth and size of an older CRT monitor. This should give you more clear space on your desk.

Second, LCD monitors are cheaper than ever. Just browse your Sunday paper’s specials and you can usually find 19-22 inch LCD monitors for less than $200. A few years ago LCD monitors were double to triple the price of a normal CRT monitor, now however they are roughly the same price.

Third, they are larger than ever. I’m talking pure screen size. The most popular size of normal/CRT monitors was 15″, while many LCD’s are coming in at 19″ or larger. It means you get more on your screen at one time, plus it looks larger and clearer than ever before.

Fourth, with most LCD Monitors the display quality has improved dramatically. Now, it’s not necessary to sacrifice quality in order to have a smaller monitor. In most cases, LCD monitors are brighter, faster, and clearer than ordinary CRT monitors.

Fifth, in many cases your graphics card on a new computer will only support an LCD monitor. The interface between a computer and a monitor can be accomplished in many different ways. The cheaper and most effective method of connecting to an LCD is the new digital outputs which are no longer compatible with older monitors.

These five reasons should give you plenty of ammunition to help you with your choice to upgrade to an LCD monitor. It makes more sense now than ever to upgrade and move to this new technology. In just a few years it won’t matter much anyway, as you’ll be forced to use an LCD monitor. Why not get a head start?

It would surely be easy to land a nanny job if you are a professional nanny. The term may sound a little intimidating but achieving such a status is not impossible. How do you become a professional nanny?

Start Somewhere

The sad thing though is that there is no formal nanny academy. You can’t study to become a nanny before you find your first nanny job. The best teacher therefore would still always be experience. Just like every other nanny, you have to start somewhere. Your first few nanny experiences will give you a feel for the job and some basic knowledge about caring for kids.

Do remember though that first timers usually do not earn very much. Parents may also only hire you for a very short period of time. Don’t let the low pay and limited time get to you. Once you get considerable experience, you will be given more opportunities to work for higher pay. The key is to get experience.

Enroll in Special Courses

There are some basics you may have to learn as a nanny. A crucial factor that parents consider is knowledge in first aid, CPR and child care. You may have a basic knowledge of these from related classes in school. Do make sure though that your knowledge is up to date and comprehensive. The only way to ensure that is to enroll for refresher courses or special classes.

Keep yourself updated. Read the latest about child care from leading family magazines, books and online resources. Some parents may even opt to ask you questions related to child care and situations involving kids. Reading up will supply you with some good answers.

Join Groups

Keep an open mind about what others can teach you. Other nannies may be able to teach you to become a professional nanny. Those who already are professionals may be willing to share a few good points or two. You can find these experts in associations for nannies or informal online groups. Even forums may be able to yield good information that you may be able to use. Be careful though. You also need to have the wisdom to carefully sift through what you gather from informal sources. If you really want to follow a particular practice or method, make sure it is from a reputable and expert source.

Establish Relationships

You are on your way to becoming a professional once you have client relationships. Understand that different families have different ways. Your way of communicating and relating to one may not work on another. Nonetheless, two important factors are a clear knowledge of your duties and a respect for parental role. This means you know exactly what is expected of you without overstepping your boundaries as a nanny. Parents should always have a final say when it comes to how their kids should be treated or disciplined.

Having clients who are satisfied with your work is a sign of your growing expertise. In time, these satisfied families that you have worked for will become your recommendation and reference sources. It is not impossible for you to become a professional nanny. If you are determined to be one, then there is simply no stopping you.

Lenders will tell you that the riskiest loan is the unsecured personal loan. Why? Because if the borrower defaults on the loan, the lender has nothing to sell to recoup all or part of the money they lent. Since personal loans are inherently risky, personal loans to individuals with bad credit are the riskiest loan available.

Emergencies are an equal opportunity affliction-we all have them. Individuals with great credit have a plethora of choices; those with bad credit have fewer. Recently credit unions and some banks and savings and loans have stepped up to offer personal loans to individuals with bad credit. Banks and credits unions offer lower interest rates and longer terms of repayment. Not only that, but many credit unions and banks offer credit counseling and debt consolidation.

Once the only option for people with bad credit, payday loan companies still meet a need in the community. Usually the only requirement to get a loan is that the borrower be employed. With payday loans, the borrower writes a post-dated check for the amount of the loan and the interest. For instance, if the amount of the loan is $100, the borrower would write a check dated for his/her next payday in the amount of $115 to $130. When the next payday arrives either the borrower comes in and redeems the check or the lender deposits the check.

Because payday loans are very short-term, they present a risk to the borrower. Most borrowers turn to payday loans because they are in an emergency situation. Perhaps the car needs a repair, or their child needs to see a doctor, or maybe they need money to attend to a sick parent. Payday loans must be repaid usually within two weeks, if the borrower can’t repay the loan; they pay the fees, and roll the loan over. So now the $100 loan will cost them $30 to $60 per month.

Once a borrower begins the cycle of rolling over their loans, there is often no way out. The payday loan that was meant to solve an emergent problem has become the problem itself. If for instance, a person borrowed $100 and wrote a check for $130 to pay the principle and interest, only to find out that come payday, they didn’t have the funds to repay the loan. The borrower then pays the $30, and rolls the loan over. If the borrower rolls the loan over three times, he/she has paid $90 in interest in six weeks.

Bad credit does have to mean bad choices. Individuals with bad credit should shop around for emergency loans to see what is available to them before the emergency hits. When an emergency does occur, they are ready to get the best loan with the lowest interest rate for their situation.
