There are plenty of things that you could own. Some may have been bought, others given to you, and still other passed along from generation to generation.

They may have a monetary value or they could be more sentimental. Things like pictures or other heirlooms are hard to put a price on, but they can be invaluable to people who know their history.

And what’s the problem with owning things? They can be stolen. Or damaged by fire, flood or earthquake.

One of the most personal things that can be stolen from you is your identity. Identity theft is becoming more and more of a problem, and the first step in preventing it is to understand what it is.

What Is Identity Theft?

In order to be aware of identity theft, provide protection and prosecute those who steal another’s identity, it is important to define identity theft. Identity theft is that action or actions taken by another for the purpose of misrepresenting themselves as that individual in order to commit fraudulent acts. Those fraudulent acts can include the illegal accessing of that person’s financial accounts or committing acts of crime. Those acts of crime could include creating new credit cards accounts, obtaining a loan, etc.

One of the most common impacts of identity theft is financial loss of some sort. Identity theft can affect your finances and credit rating when the thieves are able to access your bank accounts, credit cards and other private information.

Plus, if it isn’t stopped quickly, this damage can have a serious impact on your good name. Credit reports, employment history, criminal records, etc. are all potential problems. Even though you are innocent, the problems are on your record. It can take years to clear your name.

How Identity Theft Occurs

Identity theft usually happens when someone obtains critical pieces of information about you.

This can include identification numbers, such as your social insurance number and driver’s license number – things that only their owner should know. Other potentially dangerous pieces of information are your passwords, account PINs, date of birth or even your mother’s maiden name.

If these numbers are obtained by an identity thief, they can use them to pose as you to banks, credit companies or other services. This personal information should never be given out glibly.

If a company has a legitimate need for this information, they normally only ask for it if you have called them. They shouldn’t call you and then ask for it, since you have no way of confirming they are who they say.

Identify thieves can also obtain this information by going through your trash or stealing your wallet or purse. It’s important to shred all paperwork that contain important information before you throw it out.

Hannah Montana is the latest in a series of Disney original TV shows. The series revolves around a young girl named Miley Stewart. She’s your typical teenage schoolgirl during the day, but at night she becomes superstar singing sensation Hannah Montana. Her double life is kept totally secret from the public. Only her family and a few close friends know.

Both Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana are played by Miley Cyrus, teenage singing sensation and daughter of country singing legend/actor, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Miley Ray Cyrus actually started out as Destiny Hope Cyrus, but she soon picked up the nickname smiley because she was smiling all the time. Somehow, smiley got shortened to Miley, and the nickname stuck. Eventually Miley decided to make it official and legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus. She’s always looked up to her dad so when it came time to pick a name, she wanted to be named after him. So she picked Ray as her middle name.

She’s always tried to follow in his footsteps too. At age 11 when she originally auditioned for the Hannah Montana show, she had already worked for years preparing for the part. As a little girl, she appeared as an extra in a number of her dad’s shows. Then at age 8 she played Ruthie in “Big Fish”.

But that wasn’t enough to make her a shoe-in for a part in Hannah Montana. In fact when she first auditioned for the role of Lilly and then later for the part of Hannah Montana, she was one of 1000 girls trying out. She was turned down by Disney executives for both roles. They told her she was too young.

She didn’t let that stop her though. Miley stayed on the big Disney executives. She kept bugging them and wouldn’t let up. Finally they granted her a second audition. Either she knocked them dead this time, or they were afraid she’d be stalking them if they turned her down again, because they gave her the lead role.

She’s been singing and playing guitar for years too, long before she became Hannah Montana. She’s already written hundreds of songs and released a number of them on three separate albums.

Disney released her first album, “The Hannah Montana Soundtrack”, in October, 2006. She followed up in June, 2007 with her second album, “Hannah Montana 2: meet Miley Cyrus”. Then in July, 2008, she released her third album, “Breakout”. All three of her albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and have gone on to become huge hits.

The popularity of the Hannah Montana TV show has soared as well. In fact, Hannah Montana is the most watched show on cable for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14. That’s one of the big reasons behind the huge demand for the Hannah Montana costume this Halloween.

Hannah’s popularity has brought in plenty of money, for both Miley and Disney. As a matter-of-fact, Miley was named “The Richest Kid in the World” by People Magazine. This was right after Miley had signed a seven figure book deal with Disney. Also, while touring, with her band (as Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana), she brings in an estimated $1 million per week. She has also sold over 6.5 million albums and is expected to sell over $1 billion worth of Hannah Montana merchandise, including Hannah Montana costumes.

She’s definitely reached “super celebrity” status now. She’s been featured on the cover of People, CosmoGirl, and a number of other popular magazines, and in July of 2008, People Magazine devoted an entire special issue just to Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana. She’s also won numerous TV and music awards and has even been asked to host and perform at a number of the award shows.

So right now, Hannah – Miley mania is at full peak. That’s why the Hannah Montana costume is so popular this Halloween. All the little girls want to be Hannah, so don’t be surprised if you look out and see the streets filled with blond headed girls with microphones in their hands this Halloween.

It’s interesting to know that both novices and experienced individuals alike, make the same mistakes and bad decisions in affiliate marketing that ruin their progress.

Mistake #1: Organizing Someone Else’s List

Creating someone else’s list at your own expense can (and should) be avoided by simply recording your clients information when (s)he visits your website.

This is the job of the squeeze page. A squeeze page records both the names and e-mail addresses of all those who’ve visited your website, thereby building you an invaluable opt-in list of interested (and pre-sold) individuals who you can contact in the future to sell other products and/or services you may have. Who better to approach about any offers you have, than to those who’ve already shown an interest?

Mistake #2: Not Taking Your Prospects Seriously.

How can you let go of people who purchased something from you? You MUST follow up with your contacts. After all, you’ve spent your precious time and put in effort in finding quality clients for your affiliate marketing site. You can’t let that be the end of it.

Following up with your prospects could involve posting newsletters, having them read your articles or free reports, or sending them updated information about your products and services. Keep in mind here that you don’t want to stalk your prospects. You simply want to keep them “in the loop” by staying in contact with them.

Mistake #3: Take It Easy With Your Prospects.

People like to buy things, but they don’t like to be sold. They don’t want to feel like they’re being manipulated or forced into a buying decision. When someone is ready to buy, they’ll sell themselves.

Mistake #4: Promoting Multiple Offers In One Mailing.

The last thing you want to do is confuse — and possibly alienate — your clients by sending them multiple offers that they didn’t ask for. Just stick to one program, product or service in the beginning. Then after you’ve established some credibility with them over time, you’ll be in a better position to have them consider your other services or programs, provided they’ve been satisfied with your past offer(s).

Mistake #5: Marketing Several Affiliate Programs At The Same Time.

For the men reading this article, I ask you, “Can you date 5 women at the same time?” And for the women, I’d ask the same question, “Can you date 5 men at the same time?” It’s a nice concept to think about, particularly in regard to who those 5 women and 5 men were. But in terms of marketing an affiliate program, you’d be well advised to stay with one program in the beginning. Before running off trying to promote 2 or 3 other programs, concentrate on the one you’re already in by obtaining the experience, dexterity and money from it, before getting into something else.

If you’re guilty of committing any one (or more) of these mistakes, there is indeed hope for you. As long as you take corrective action as quickly as possible before your business suffers from it.

1. Watch films. Hard work I know. Films have an infinite amounts of ideas for inspiration with different concepts for lighting and composition. With 30 images per second, you’ll have some great ideas in no time.

2. Enter photography contests online. Contests often give you topics or themes which can give you inspiration when you don’t know what to shoot.

3. Watch Movies. It is another source of inspiration, as they are nothing more than still images shown to you at 29.97 frames a second. Lots of ideas for concepts, lighting, messages, or just plain pretty images.

4. Look at things through the eyes of creativity. Pick anything and shoot it just to see what it looks like: things around your house, in the refrigerator, etc. The subject doesn’t really matter all that much, what matters is how you shoot it. Shoot, shoot and still shoot even more. Digital is cheap.

5. Composition is king. Take time to consider the layout of your image. Imagine the photo in your head. Try and discover new angles and lighting- see things like you’ve never even thought of seeing before.

6. Plan a trip to a local botanical garden or a zoo. Make sure to visit such places from time to time, – there are lots of things to shoot there.

7. Shoot in different conditions. E.g. if you shoot in early morning, late in the afternoon or in sunset, the available light will add more depth, create interesting shadows and color changes for your convenience. Try to photograph places in fog – it will hide distracting background elements.

8. Carry your camera everywhere. Take at least one photo a day so you can keep a record of your life in a whole new way.

9. Join a photo community and interest groups. It is cheap, informative, and fun. You can post your photos, participate in critique and discussions at forums. Some very good and interesting stuff to be found there!

10. Join photography forums. It’s free and fun. You can discuss photography, post up photos and meet some cool people who love photography as much as you.
