What Exactly Is The World Wide Web – Internet

by Cannon Ryan

The World Wide Web is a software application that runs on the Internet. It is the graphical interface that incorporates underlying functions in an easier-to-use manner. The Web’s technical capabilities are changing at a phenomenal rate. New features are proposed and implemented with breakneck speed. Your technical team will have to work overtime just to stay current and they will keep you apprised of the latest and greatest to ensure that your corporate Web site doesn’t get stodgy and boring. A technically boring Web site might be just the thing you need. Yes, some changes will be required to keep you from technical stagnation. You will install seat belts. You will switch to unleaded gasoline. You will install air bags. You will have to keep up to date. But don’t let the techno-maniacs get the better of you.

It may embarrass them to look a little behind the times in front of their peers. But you can lose the potential return on your Web investment if you get too far out in front of your customers. The Web has caught on so quickly because it enables you to present information in a myriad of media: hypertext, graphics, video, sound, and so on. A business prints a variety of documents to help move a prospect through the sales cycle. Each document has its own purpose and life expectancy.

Each document is crafted to achieve a specific goal. A flier handed out at a trade show, an ad placed in a newspaper or magazine, and a direct mail piece are each designed to do one thing — hook the reader into wanting more information. Your goal is to entice the recipient into a relationship that will culminate in the purchase of a product or service, perhaps on first contact.

The four-color, eight-page brochure gives prospects a taste of your quality, a picture of your product or people, and something they can show to the manager who approves the budget. If they like the brochure, they will want to know more. Firms selling complex equipment or lengthy consulting services often use some sort of concepts and facilities guide. This document outlines the company’s approach and provides detailed specifications. It lets the prospect fully understand what is being sold in order to make a more informed decision.

Finally, the product or service might be tested on a trial basis to ensure a good match and account for any unforeseen incompatibilities between buyer and seller. What if all of these documents, all of these steps, all these interactions, could be managed online, interactively and untouched by human hands? What if your prospects could reach into your organization and take the information they want? What if they could educate themselves? What Instant delivery of promotional materials to a worldwide, growing population of self-selected prospects? What if they could place the order, track the shipping, answer the tough questions and get the help they need online? This is the promise held out by the World Wide Web. This is what is making companies all over the world rush to implement back-office connections to their Web sites. All that remains is to do it well. Doing it well depends entirely on your definition. Being successful at anything requires a means to measure that success.

Without clear goals, you will never know if the end has been achieved. Each association, group, society, or business that sets out to create a presence on Web must first know why it wishes to invest the resources. Selecting reasonable, achievable, and measurable goals at the start is the only way to be sure your efforts have paid off at the finish line. The best marketing ploy on the World Wide Web may well be a strong customer service offering. It doesn’t need to be cool, hip, sexy or cutting edge. What people want is more value for their money. If your new garden tool is backed by a Web site full of tips, tricks and gardening traps, it has more value than the one that just comes with a price tag. If your site offers numerous ways to acquire your products, people are more likely to do so. If you are successful at promoting and selling products and services on your Web site, you have to be prepared to manage the needs of your new customers. They come to the table with high expectations, having been taught the possibilities by all the other Web sites they frequent.

What is a reverse mortgage?? Do I want it?

by Doc Schmyz

If you have not already heard the term reverse mortgage, it sounds like a strange thing. Reverse mortgages are becoming more and more popular these days, but are they scams or are they legitimate? Is it really possible to sell your house back to the bank and still retain the deed to it? Will the bank really pay YOU the mortgage payments? Let’s review what a reverse mortgage is so these questions can be answered.

The name is somewhat confusing. A reverse mortgage is a loan that is structured like a mortgage, with YOU as the lender and the BANK as the buyer. In the U.S., homeowners wanting to initiate a reverse mortgage must be at least 62 years old, and own all or most of their home. The senior citizen homeowner “sells” his or her house to the bank, in return for receiving periodic mortgage payments. Sometimes the payments can be structured as a lump sum, line of credit, or a combination of all three.

So what are the benefits to a reverse mortgage? It provides a constant and dependable stream of retirement income. Most retirement plans such as 401(K) or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) generally increase in value, but are still tied to stock market. The amount of money they provide during retirement can vary. A reverse mortgage can supplement a senior citizen’s income. The amount depends on the homeowner’s age, equity of the house, interest rate on the loan, closing fees, and a few other factors.

A common misconception about the reverse mortgage is that the bank eventually owns your house. This is not true! The deed remains in your name throughout the entire term of the process. Note that there is interest on the loan payments, but it is deferred until the loan is repaid.

The homeowner can remain living in the house during the entire term of the reverse mortgage. The loan becomes due when the homeowner moves out, or becomes deceased. At those times, the survivors/heirs can repay the loan themselves if they want to keep the house. They can also sell the home and repay the loan plus the interest in full. The money paid to the homeowner as mortgage payments must be repaid to the lender when the loan becomes due.

These odd mortgages can provide much needed financial support during retirement. It is a time when medical costs are likely to increase, so an additional source of income can really help. Use a reverse mortgage to help yourself or your aging relatives to gain the financial security in retirement that they worked so hard to achieve.

Want A Floodgate Of Blog Traffic? Read These 10 Traffic Tips.

by Yomi A

In every bloggers life comes a special day – the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else”s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader – you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that”s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers. Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers.

These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called “traction”, which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn”t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don”t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that”s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you”ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people”s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger”s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry – it”s sort of like your blog telling someone else”s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important – it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it”s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it”s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn”t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it”s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have – your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your “Resource Box”. You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I”ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won”t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

More Things to Consider When Starting Your Home-Based Business

by business card secrets

How much capital you have – Some businesses (e.g. manufacturing) require relatively large amounts of capital to get started, to pay for such things as special equipment, raw materials, stock, transportation, operating licences, advertising, and so on. Others (e.g. window cleaning) require very little in the way of capital expenditure. Bear in mind, however, that even in a low cost business you will still need to have sufficient funds to cover your needs and those of your family while your business is becoming established.

How much you need to earn – Some (a few) home-based businesses can bring in $100 or more an hour, while in others you will be fortunate to earn this amount in a day If your business is intended to provide a second income – to augment a pension, for example – then earnings may not matter especially to you. In this case you may simply wish to start a business doing what you enjoy, even if it will never bring in a fortune. By contrast, if your business will have to support a family (not to mention a mortgage, car, foreign holidays, school fees and so on) you will need to zero in on those opportunities which offer the best potential for such an income.

Whatever you decide to do, it is important that it meets all your requirements. If you start a business which is unsuitable, for whatever reason, you will not enjoy doing it. And if you cannot do it properly the business is most likely to fail, thus undermining your self-confidence, and perhaps preventing you from doing something else which you could do well.

If You Still Can’t Decide…

It may be now that you have come down to a choice between two or three different ideas. Each has its attractions but also its drawbacks, and you really can’t decide between them. What more can you do to help reach a decision?

One suggestion – which is a good idea even if you have already decided on a business – is to find out more about what each of your possible businesses would involve in practice. See if you can get part-time or temporary work in a similar field. If this proves impossible, speak to others already doing this type of job or go and watch them at work. Once you have more information, you are very likely to find yourself re-grading your business ideas against your list of requirements.

Depending on your proposed business, perhaps you could even try starting up in a small way yourself, working in your spare time initially without giving up your main job. This can provide an excellent opportunity to see how you enjoy doing the work, and may also give you a better idea of how much demand there is likely to be for your services.

Overall, the more information you can obtain about your proposed business before you decide to proceed, the better is the chance that it will meet your expectations and requirements.

Making Business Proposals Work Their Magic

by Craig Calvin

Most business people do not enjoy drafting business proposals, but they also know it is a required talent. Creating a proposal that impresses management and potential clientele is quite often what can make or break a deal. It is, in essence, a simple process, so mastering the art is not difficult.

The first step to writing a business proposal that works is determining exactly what the competition wants. Sometimes this is as easy as asking them, but at other times you may need to think about value added services and unstated needs. Offering the client what they need, even when they didn’t specifically ask for it, can make the difference between a winning proposal and a long string of losses.

The second step is to assess the competition. If there is a lot of competition, this deal may require more energy or, conversely, not be worth a whole lot of time and effort. While you should make every effort to remain competitive, avoid situations that may turn into bidding wars. Most businesses will not benefit from undercutting the competition rather than focusing on product. However, you need to remain competitive, especially if you are in a field with a lot of competition.

Step three is to ask pertinent questions. More customers are willing to provide information than you may think. Asking the right questions can clue you to their needs. A lot of people think they know what the customer wants, but if a customer doesn’t feel understood, they will find someone who does.

Keeping in mind these tips should help ease your business proposal writing process. Drafting a business proposal that is effective will usher in work as well as distinguish you as an expert. If you have the information needed, you should easily be able to create an effective proposal.

Making Money With a Membership Site with the Right Web Host

by Lin VanFleet

Have you ever dreamed of starting your own membership site? Some say it’s the best way to make money on the Internet, so why not? Well, let’s make sure you have the right tools for the job! Starting a membership web site is possible but you will need a hosting company that offers you the right tools to conduct the day to day operations of your site. At minimum the prospective hosting company should allow you the ability to create forms, set up an ecommerce site, community development tools, recurring billing modules and access level controls. But that’s not all you will need to build and run a membership web site.

You will need a few other tools such as MySQL, PERL, CGI, SSI, CRON, Curl, FrontPage, PHP scripting tools, Python, GD and ImageMagik, which allows you to create streaming videos and music. Oftentimes these come as standard with hosting companies; however, ask to make sure.

Don’t overlook your email needs. Your hosting package should come with auto responders, mailing lists, mail forwarding, web mail, Spam control, POP3, IMAP, and SMTP. Again, if in doubt, ask. It is a lot better to know upfront what you’re getting than to discover it when you need it – but don’t have it!

Does the hosting company provide you with a control panel? For most of us a hosting account without a control panel would be like opening your personal computer without the Windows interface! Unthinkable! Cpanels usually offer you multiple features such as hotlink protection, Fantastico, Search Engine submission and error pages. Fantastico is a commercial script library that automates installation of about 50 scripts including instant blogging software, portals, PHP, Nuke, Instant Chat, Forums, counters, FTP, and so on.

Membership sites are private, so you simply must have password protection for your folders. Check to see if the hosting company’s cpanel package has password protection; additionally, you will want .htaccess privileges.

Also make sure you have tracking statistics available. Tracking statistics often include raw log or other access such as Awstats. Error logs and analogs are provided as well. While this feature will not make your site run any better, it will help you to improve it when you know what’s going on “behind the scenes.”

If you plan to start running a membership web site, you really should consider purchasing the plan that offers ecommerce features, as well as Shared SSL or Private SSL, Agora Shopping Carts, Instant OS Commerce, and Cube Carts. Joomla, Mambo and other membership scripts are usually also available.

In addition to the basic tools listed above, you will also need to consider a few marketing tools for your web site once you get setup. These will vary depending on they type of site you are building, and are not usually provided by the web hosting company. In fact, there will be lots of things you will need, but you won’t even know what they are until you run into a problem or two. Don’t spend time fretting about it – just head on over to the search engine and start searching.

So, here you are: poised and ready to dive in. It all started when you dared to dream of owning and running a membership site. Now you know how to find a good webhosting company. The time for hesitation is over. Just step into the water and start swimming with the giants!

Why You Are A Star

by Eliza Mc Namara

There is a amazing secret formula to succeeding in the world that not very many people are aware of…

Most people will tell you that you should do the opposite of what I’m about to tell you to do…

You see the thing is that success for starters is not what most people think it is, most people think that success is all about how much money you have in the bank or what car you drive, that’s what most people will obsess about and spend their entire life believing.

The funny thing is that all self made millionaires will tell you that success is not about any of those things, those that have real success tend to have external and internal success. Because everything is a reflection of everything else. The rest of the population tend to fit into one of two categories.

Type 1)Thinks that success is all about what car you drive and how much money you have in the bank-even if the car is on lease and the money is from a loan!

Type 2) Tries to convince themselves that they don’t care about money or want to drive a nice car, or have nice holidays and spends their entire life in survival mode being lazy and not bothering to further themselves and chase after their childhood dreams because they believe that that would be selfish or unrealistic. Flying planes, spaceships and electric light come to mind!

You must be the Type 1 Surely! I can almost hear you convincing yourself! Be honest with yourself are you a go getter who knows what they want and knows that they deserve it. Or are you someone who convinces themselves that money is about having material objects or that money isn’t important to them?

Once you have become aware of which category you fall into you need to take steps to work out what got you thinking that way in the first place or give yourself a pat on the back if you’re a go getter!

So anyway, I’ll let you know what success really is so you don’t go crazy with the suspense! Success is all about YOU. Now you’re probably even more confused than you were before! What I mean by that is success is something that happens to you when you build your value and find something that you’re extremely passionate about and market it in a effective way. Hint: You’ll know when you find it…. It will hit you like a ton of multicolored bricks!

Still confused?

A successful person is, technically speaking someone who is progressively realizing THEIR worthy ideal.

You have to do a lot of inner work before you locate YOUR worthy ideal, if you don’t you could very easily as many people do end up chasing someone elses worthy ideal… and you definitely DON’T want that! Warning, many many people will tell you you do because they were too scared to go after THEIR dreams themselves…

This is a brief breakdown of what a successful person has done to achieve all of their worthy ideals:

1) They get in touch with themselves through silence, meditation, painful life experiences, travelling or anything that helps you to clarify your focus in life, and then the dream or the desire whatever you would like to call it comes to them-normally whilst they’re awake!

Then one of these three things happen:

1)They ignore the revelation and just carry on in survival mode until they die, wollop bang into the supermarket trolley an invisible miserable speck of dust that could have been a happy person wasted and gone.

2) They chase after the dream, and they are completely flexible in their dogged pursuit of the dream, and persevere until they get it, passionate enough to endure all the blood sweat and tears-hint this is what builds character… have you ever met someone that didn’t have any…. scary!

3) This is the worst one of all, they try for a while and they quit, often when their dream was just around the corner…

The message here is very clear, if you have a dream any dream, and you want it to become reality and not just a dream in your head, you have to COMMIT to achieving it, that means that you stop at NOTHING until you achieve your goal, and you have faith that you will achieve it, not analyzing exactly when and how it’s going to come to fruition, just commiting to doing what it takes to get closer to it until you get it every single day:-)

Taking actions even if it has to be small ones each and every single day that get you closer to your dream is THE SECRET that everyone is looking for! They will be looking for a long long time!

If you believe in yourself, and you have friends, even if it’s just one friend, that believes in you and your dream then you will achieve it, nothing has the power or the right to stop you except your beliefs and your perseverance. You create your reality when you have self belief, but few do.

Here is the web definition for perseverance:perseverance per-se-ver-ence (Noun) Persistence in some thing undertaken in spite of difficulty or obstacles. Perseverance is a highly valued quality among successful people. Teach your children perseverance; and they will never fail because every apparent failure yields learning that leads to success.

And Remember Napoleon Hill Has Put It Into A Simple Format :

A WINNER NEVER QUITS AND A QUITTER NEVER WINS

SO GET OUT THERE AND DREAM BELIEVE AND ACHIEVE:-)

YOU DESERVE THE BEST:-) REMEMBER THAT WHEN THEY DOUBT YOU;-)

Free Reverse Phone Number Technology – The Pros and Cons

by Davion W

If you are looking for a great way of finding out who is calling you, you must use the free reverse phone number directory. A lot of people are already using this technology, and if you are not yet one of them, it is time to join the bandwagon.

Indeed you can benefit many things by using the free reverse phone number technology. You will know who calls your children in the dead of the night, and you can also use the directory of reverse phone number for free to check on your husband — and bring him to his doom, perhaps.

However, what a lot of people do not know is the fact that free reverse phone number directories do not actually exist. Some are laying claim that they are offering the services at no cost to the user, but then when you visit the site, you will realize that that is only a come-on. These sites are paying a hefty amount of money so they can run on the World Wide Web, after all, so offering the services for free seems a rather preposterous idea.

In the event that you need to look up the owner of a certain number, you have to go to legitimate sites that will let you do this, and this means you have to pay a certain amount for you to access the information that you want.

The required fee varies from site to site, and depending on your subscription plan. Usually, though, you are given the option to pay the one-time fee, which is very minimal, or subscribe to a monthly or yearly plan.

Before you decide on which plan to take, consider your need for the services first. For instance, if your job requires you to make a series of reverse phone look ups, then it may be better to pay the one-time fee which will give you unlimited information in return.

Then, of course, there are certain drawbacks to this technological advancement. For example, your privacy as an individual is compromised. With only a few dollars, people will be able to find information about you. Within seconds, your identity will be on the World Wide Web. To keep this from happening, do not register your phone number. Also, when filling out credit card application forms, avoid placing your contact number. Do not also give your contact number to anybody. If it’s your personal number, limit the people who will know about it to your family members and close friends. These things you must do if you want to protect yourself from people who are most likely to take advantage of this free reverse phone number technology.

Know more about the free reverse phone number directory in my site.
