Salary Negotiation Master Technique

We know we should never reveal what what our old salary was – it can be negotiation suicide if you do – but how can we avoid giving it away if asked?

A good rule of thumb is to always be honest. Discussing salary during the early part of the recruiting process is not a good idea.

Consider the following if you are pressured for your salary history when you aren’t comfortable with it:

1) State that you’d rather not answer that question because your previous salary is not terribly relevant to the current job you’re applying to. You’d rather be paid commensurate with the market and within the companies standard guidelines for the role and responsibility.

2) If pressed to disclose the previous salary, as is mentioned by other respondents, mention with the total value of your compensation package. Also, re-iterate that it is not the same company, and so your previous salary is not terribly pertinent. There are so many factors including work life balance, benefits, holidays, paid overtime, etc,etc, that factor in.

3) When you go in for an interview you should be armed with knowledge of the current market. You should know your level of skill and professionalism and knowing your local job market you should be able to command the price you expect. You need to do your research, and be realistic about whether you are superstar talent or just high performing.

4) Regardless of whether or not you were earning at or below or even above the market average for your career, your past salary is not relevant. You may have had any number of reasons for working below market in the past, but what is important now is that you earn current market rates for the work you do. Your past doesn’t explain your worth as a resource to the new employer.

5) If you divulge your salary, restate that you expect to be paid the standard industry rate for the posting, and explain what you do understand about the industry at that time. Most employers will respect you for standing your ground on the matter. Just remember that in negotiating you should be firm in your stance but respectful in your demeanor.

Never lie your interview. The employer has many ways to find out what you really earned in your past, either through asking your for some form of record, or they can confirm it with your previous employer. Just remember, you bring a lot of value, and that is the most important thing you offer to the employer.

Overnight Shipping: Is it Really “Overnight”?

During an advertisement for an overnight shipping service, an announcer seriously intones ‘When it absolutely positively has to be there overnight.’ But for many, the question remains if the mail is truly delivered during the night time.

The answer is both yes and no.

Logistics of Overnight Delivery

Overnight delivery policies and rates may differ from carrier to carrier, but most share one thing in common — time frames in which overnight packages can be delivered fluctuate greatly. Factors, such as when the package was handed over to a shipping representative, can greatly affect whether important mail is sent out before the close of business.

For instance, if you were to take a package to the local shipping center of your choice before noon, your package will be in transit and may arrive at your destination the following day. If however, you get the package in near the time of closing, the package may be placed in transit but cannot be guaranteed to be delivered the next day.

Now, in regards to the terminology ‘overnight’ can be a bit misleading.

As in our earlier example, if a package arrives at a service center early enough and is designated as an overnight shipment, it will immediately be sorted in the overnight bin for delivery. This means that it will actually be en route to its destination that very day. If it comes later in the evening, most commonly after 3 PM, then the package will be placed on a mail freight air service and in some cases, this air cargo will ship out in the evening.

International options are also available although, depending on where the destination location is, it may not exactly get there on time. By utilizing commercial airlines, next day air packages can be delivered to any major US city in the US. This type of next day service only delivers within the continental US and cannot guarantee early morning delivery. Anyone who chooses this less costly route needs to be aware of that all important fact, especially if the package has to be there before noon.

If the time of morning does not matter, but getting it there the following day does, this is a wonderful option and is less expensive than the aforementioned services.

So, does overnight shipping overnight–it depends on the time you drop off your package and what courier delivery service you utilize-but the one thing you can be certain of is that overnight shipping will get your package where it needs to be in the fastest amount of time possible.

The other day a person asked me a very important question. The guy was looking to establish a joint venture partnership with other fellows, he had found on article directories but he was a bit confused because on article directories you can find all sorts of people and not all of them are worth dealing with. So, this article is the response to his question how to find suitable partners on article directories.

He was right to be cautious. The key to successfully dealing with people on article directories is to create your own filtering rules, which can help you sort out the people who you think are worth working with from the people who aren’t. As a rule, there are a couple of factors I take into consideration when choosing partners that way. First, does the message of the person send good vibes or not? Second, is he or she suitable for a long-term partner?

Long-term cooperation is what interests me. I don’t look for short relationships because I hate when we are together for a few weeks and then everything is over. Long-term cooperation is what matters for me most. Besides, I always dig to see if the people, who I am considering as potential partners have experience – i.e. if they have had past partnerships and if they did – how was it? My acquaintance told me many things about my potential partner and this information was more than useful to me.

In addition to past experience, another importan filtering criterion is how your potential partners market to their customers. Join their list and you will learn the answer. You will also learn how they communicate with their subscribers. Joining their list will send you vibes, so you will know how you feel about them – do you like them or not.

Also, I can offer one more idea. Well, maybe it goes too far but if you want to make a reliable test, become a customer of your potential partner. The experience as a customer is valuable because it tells you a lot about the people whom you are dealing with.

A good way to see a potential JV’s conversion is to join their affiliate program because you can see exactly how many people you send to their website and how many people buy. So you could see if it is a good selling product just by becoming an affiliate of them and then marketing their own product.
