The shoulder muscles have been known for centuries as being the icon of strength; from ancient Greek wrestlers to bodybuilders today. The shoulders are where you get noticed. There is a common theme amongst bodybuilders today and in Western society that the chest is developed much more than the shoulders. I personally don’t think that’s a great look. I mean, who want to have big boobs if you’re a man anyway!

In fact, you should consider that you work the shoulders in order to have a well proportioned look to your upper body.

Increase the amount of exercises that you do for your shoulders to help your look be more proportioned and well balanced. The bench press is one exercise that will work on the shoulders and the chest in the same exercise, but it is primarily a chest exercise and should not be the only exercise that you do for this area. You will have to find exercises that are devoted to the work of the shoulder muscles.

The military press is one that can increase the strength and appearance of the shoulders. It is also known as the behind the neck press in some cases. It is a very all encompassing exercise that will use all of the muscles in the shoulder area to increase the size and strength of your shoulders. The method is the same that you will use for other press type exercises. It is possible to use a bar or a dumbbell according to your preference. It is not recommended that you use a smith machine because of the potential to cause injury and the lack of a full range of motion.

How it works:

1. Take a seat on your favorite bench

2. Position the dumbbells to each side of your shoulders with your elbows below your wrists. (If you’re using a bar, place bar behind your back and rest on the nape of your neck)

3. Push the weight up and away from your shoulders, but use care that you do not lock the elbows.

4. Lower the weight and then repeat the exercise.

The military press is not a difficult exercise to perform and should give you an increase in strength as well as the appearance of your muscles. When you use other exercises as well, you will have a well proportioned upper body. Having a well balanced group of exercises for your upper body is a great way to get the best results from your workout.

Use these tips for an even better workout of your shoulders.

The military press can be done standing up. Try starting off by lifting the weight off the floor in a smooth motion and bring it up to your shoulders. From there you will perform the exercise and then bring the weights back to the floor. This will give you a great upper body and shoulder workout. Try to cycle the exercises in your upper body workout in eight week cycles. By the time you get around to the military press again, you will find that you have increased the size and strength of your shoulder muscles dramatically.

By the time you have returned to the shoulder press after your cycle, your upper body will be well muscled and strong. This will help you to perform the exercises with even greater strength on the next round of cycles.

The military and certain universities use a connection of networks in order to exchange information. This inter-networking is now what we have come to know as the Internet. Thanks to Internet service providers, this technological phenomenon was brought straight to our homes. Now, we do an array of activities using the Internet, and most of them have become so intertwined with our daily lives that it’s already quite difficult to live without them. The Internet has become a multi-billion dollar industry and a lot of people have become millionaires and billionaires from it.

Chatting

Humans are a naturally social species. We always had the need to communicate and you’ll see this through ancient texts, cave paintings by early man, and the development of the telecommunications industry. This is why there are so many websites that offer chat room services. A very popular application has been with instant messaging. People have been using this service to chat with friends, family, and even for business purposes. Some companies even use conference chat on instant messengers for some of their meetings.

Online auction

Some people buy, some people sell, some do both. It’s at auction website where people can purchase hard to find items from other users. What’s great about it is that you can also sell things at these websites as well. There are people that make a lot of money from merely selling items on those sites.

Peer to peer services

People simply love music and ever since peer-to-peer services have been introduced, music has been all around us more than ever. Although these have gone though a legal battle, as record companies and other artists would say that it violates copyright laws. Nowadays, most of the music you can get from the Net has to be paid for (although there are some artists that give out songs or even entire albums for free).

Video streaming

A number of websites now offer video streaming services where users can upload their own videos for public display. A lot of users of these sites have become household names because of the videos they post. A number of entertainment companies saw the potential of these websites, and decided to join the bandwagon themselves. They would create their own user profiles, and release new videos from their artists exclusively on those websites. This has been a great marketing strategy for them.

Online shopping

Shopping has become a whole new experience since online stores have arrived. With online shopping, you no longer have to bust it out at busy malls during Christmas, and you simply have to just move around your mouse and click away. The only downside to it is that you don’t see the physical item before buying it, but buying things through online stores has made it extremely convenient for most occasions. Let’s say you are in California, and you’ve been dying to purchase an item, but it’s only found in London. All you have to do is to type in the name of that item on a search engine, and you will see what online stores have them available and at what price.

Recently I was asked a question about outsourcing partners. The person who asked me said that he couldn’t find outsourcing partners, who provide the level of responsiveness he needs. He thought that maybe his expectations were too high and asked me about the reasonable level of responsiveness one can expect. Read my answer below:

Whenever you are working with somebody, always give them a deadline that is at minimum a week before your actual date that you need it. Do not let them know that that is the case. Most often, the people you are outsourcing from have multiple clients and the challenge there is that their time is divided between all of those people and they tend to address the projects that are most current or that need the attention at that particular time.

It is vital that you state your expectations in the very beginning. So, the first thing you should clear is if your outsourcing partner has the time for your project or not and if he or she can take you as a client.

If the answers to both questions are yes, then you can start negotiating the turnaround time for the project. They will tell you when they will be able to finish it.

Then you want to follow that one up just to make sure you say, “Okay, so from my understanding, if I give you a project on Monday, it is going to be completed by XYZ date,” whatever their timeline may be. That way, you won their commitment in terms of they are the ones that have shared with you their timeline and they have agreed and committed to that.

My next step is to give a trial project. A trial project is meant to test the waters and to see how we communicate. So give them a project, which is not time-sensitive.

Another important question you need to ask is about their preferred ways to communicate. The choices are many – telephone, email, instant messaging. If they prefer instant messaging, which is the IM client they use most – Skype, MSN, Yahoo or something else? You can also ask them about their business hours and how many hours a day they are online.

The best time for communication is important to know because different people work at different times. Some people work mainly at night because then they work best. Other people work during normal work hours.

Work hours are really important and you need to clarify this in advance. If you have a vital question to ask them and they work mainly at night, you will be trying in vain to reach them during normal business hours.

Another trick I use when working with outsourcing partners is to eliminate all the quesswork for them. I don’t know if many other people do it but I really like it and it works for me because it makes our cooperation more effective.

What I do when getting a website created for example is I go through and I find as many different sites that I like and I want my webmaster to use as a source of reference when creating my own.

So I will find, say, five to ten different websites and I will say, “Okay, this is what I like about this site. I like the colors in this one. I like the font that they have used here. I like how they boxed this in,” and I will find all kinds of different examples.

As you guess, the process of picking sites takes a lot of time. However, in fact it does save a lot of time and effort because when your outsourcing partner has clear guidelines, less communication is necessary and their task is easier. As a result, this is a very effective approach and that’s why I use it with my outsourcing partners.

I have already stated that the most important issues you need to clarify are managing your expectations and getting commitment (including clarifying the timeframe) from your partner. Another very important issue is to discover the best way for communication and the best time to do it.

Then also, your first project with any Outsource partner definitely make it a project that for you is not time sensitive but you are basically using that project to test the waters. If you are not comfortable with them, do not give them any other work because there is something that is telling you that it is not right so move on to the next.

Sometimes it is one of those trial and error situations where you go through a bunch of them until you find somebody that you enjoy working with and produces great work. Once you find that relationship, you want to hang on to it with everything you have got.
