The Federal Reserve & Index Trading

President Bush has been on the TV a lot lately. Too late for him to go down in history as a good president, but we will give him credit for trying. The Pres. has assured us all that we can grow our economy by spending more money. He even sent us each a few hundred to help us do that. One has to wonder if that was a set up for what was to come.

Next came the BIG bailouts for the banks and boys on Wall Street. Hey, where do we apply for some of that 700 billion dollar »”>Billion dollar pie? Well, don’t hold your breath on that one (in a moment we will show you how to cash in on the bail out actions with simple mini-dow index trading)!

Let’s see, if you are already in debt up to your ears – like the US government is, how is sending out free money going to stimulate the economy? And, how is that going to help the US government?

OH, don’t forget our friends over at the FED. The Reserve! The agency that is owned by the bankers. That masquerades around like they are part of the government. What many folks still don’t know is that they all pulled a fast one on us by sticking that word Federal in front of their name. The same thing the guy at Federal Express did when starting his company.

Frederick W. Smith founded FedEx. I clearly remember years ago when he was on 60 Minutes, he said that by the time folks figured out that he was not part of the government his company was already well on it’s way to success! Can’t blame his reasoning? What a PLAN! IT WORKED for the FED why not FedEx too?

Let’s quote right from the FedEx web site:

“Federal Express was so-named due to the patriotic meaning associated with the word “Federal,” which suggested an interest in nationwide economic activity. At that time, Smith hoped to obtain a contract with the Federal Reserve Bank and, although the proposal was denied, he believed the name was a particularly good one for attracting public attention and maintaining name recognition.”

I’m sure Smith did want a relationship with the Federal Reserve – who wouldn’t! These guys have the legalized right to print money! Think about it. It does not matter if it is a $1 bill or a $100 bill, it cost them about the same to make it (a few cents each). Then they “LOAN” that money at full face value to the US government. Full face value PLUS INTEREST! So now you know where the national debt comes from. We now owe that money – Plus Interest – to the FED. A private corporation controlled by international bankers.

So if you are thinking that Bush’s plan to grow the economy by handing out $100 bills won’t cost anything – Think Again! Where is that money going to come from? That’s right – the good ol boys at the FED. These mystical folks seem to be able to pull money out of thin air! Just think, with today’s high-tech world, the FED can just punch a button on a computer somewhere and release new funds to the world. Most of which never represents new bills being printed, but just credit in some bank or financial institutions account. Electronic numbers moving through nanoseconds of time and space.

Not only does the FED create money, they also have the ability to set their own interest rate!

– The Fed’s Open Market Committee (FOMC), announces their interest rate decisions. This is NOT the interest rate that you and I can get money for, (why don’t we all meet at the Fed Discount Window – wherever that is) but what the BIG boys who keep the whole world flowing receive. They in turn pump up the volume and pass the savings on to you and me right – WRONG! It could take weeks or even MONTHS after a cut to see any savings at the consumer level. So why do the markets get so active after an FOMC announcement?

The BIG boys are the ones who really move the market right (and they CAN line up at the FED window for a bailout). We just want a small slice of it. That’s all. Remember that when you are trading (or practicing the FED move trade -after an FOMC announcement).

So how do you cash in on the bailouts without getting a slice of the pie? Index trading! With all these bailout moves, the FED buying stock and giving away billions of dollars, it has caused some GREAT moves in the market. Not so good for stock traders, but Wonderful for those of us that just trade and follow the overall index.

No matter what happens, we can all do well with Simple Mini-Dow Index Trading. I look for GREAT times ahead for Index traders. We might have to pay more for the things we need, (because of the FED printing out bailout money like candy these days) but at least we can stay home and earn the money to get them!

Remember those FOMC announcements mentioned earlier? Many times after an announcement, the market moves and moves BIG. Much like the market moves we have all been seeing here lately with the bailout manipulation of the markets. The FED won’t give you a partnership deal like FedEx was looking for, but you can capitalize on their dealings.

You may not be able to get in line for a bailout, but you can stick your hand in the market and cash in on the Wild moves we are now seeing in the FED manipulated market. Just follow an index and stay away from stock!

How To Properly Weigh Volume With The Right Scale

One of the most common tasks is to fill a number of containers with the same amount of material. These containers come in many shapes and sizes. They may be as simple as a cardboard box. Or they may be large cartons or even totes. For liquid or powdered materials, they may be pails or drums, or larger tanks. Liquefied gases may also be filled into tanks or cylinders.

In some circumstances it may be acceptable to fill the container by volume. Liquids may have a known specific gravity, so if the filling operation is being performed at a constant temperature, a consistent volume will give accurate filling results. For other applications, the accuracy may not be very important, so volume filling would be appropriate. But when good accuracy is required, filling by weight is usually the best choice.

There are a number of important characteristics of a good filling scale. Of course, the scale should give the same weight results independent of where the container is placed on the platform. It should also have good repeatability, so that the weight of every container will be accurate. Furthermore, it must be quite rugged. Filling scales are often damaged during the loading or unloading process. The best choice is for the scale to use stainless steel load cells, which will be much more abuse resistant then either aluminum or plated steel load cells.

Industrial filling will often have various levels of automation. The filling process may be accomplished with pumps and valves, conveyors or a variety of augurs or other filling devices. Setpoints may be programmed to output visual and audible signals to notify an operator when the proper target weight is reached. They may also output electrical signals that can be used with relays to control the filling device. To improve the level of accuracy, a somewhat lower target weight may be specified as the proper point to reduce the rate of feed to a trickle, and then use the final target weight for a final cutoff. In many situations, there may be more than one ingredient that is being dispensed into the container. Additional setpoint target weights may be used for each of these ingredients to produce a batch of material. For ease of use, the target weights may be stored in memory, by recipe. This recipe may be recalled from memory each time the same item is being formulated.

During the filling process, it may be desirable to print a label to place on the container. The filling scale may be able to send the information directly to a local label printer. Alternatively, this information may be sent to a computer system, which may then store the information in a spreadsheet or database, and also print the required label. Various types of communication standards may be used, such as RS-232, or the more modern Universal Serial Bus (USB. If a number of filling scales are in the same location, they may be networked with an RS-485 system. In some cases, it is required to be able to collect the data, and control the filling scale, from a remote location. An Ethernet connection on the scale will allow it to connect to the local area network. With the appropriate software systems, it will then be accessible from and web browser anywhere else.

Depending on the size of the containers that are being filled, the filling scale may be in the form of a bench scale, a cylinder scale, a platform scale or even a large floor scale. In all of these cases, it is best for the height of the scale to be minimized. This eases the loading and unloading process. Ramps should be available if drum carts are being used. The ramps may be equipped with anchor plates that allow them to be securely fastened to the factory floor. The same anchor plates can have a means of attaching to the legs of the scale, so the proper distance is maintained between the ramp and the scale.

The local digital indicator will be used by the operator to monitor the filling process. Large, graphics digits are very useful for ease of viewing in all types of factory environments. Units conversion allows the operator to read the weight in pounds or kilograms, or any other appropriate unit.

Creating a Successful Teacher Resume

It’s arguably the most important job in the world, but just because you’re a passionate, dedicated teacher doesn’t mean that you can send in any old resume. You must be able to translate your skills, experiences, and credentials into a document that makes potential employers say, “I want to meet his person!” In fact, you’re “teaching” employers about you.

Structuring for Success

These features must be included on your resume. Put them in the order below to maximize readability.

Identifying information. Like other resumes, you must include your full name, address, phone number, and email address at the top of your resume. Make sure it’s big enough to read easily.

Objective. This is especially important when applying at large school districts because they receive hundreds of resumes and need to quickly identify which pile your resume should be added to. Many teachers-especially at the elementary level-are certified for a broad range of ages and subjects. If employers can’t decide whether you want to teach sixth grade social studies or kindergarten, she may toss your resume and move on the next, clearer resume. Be precise: “Seeking a sixth grade language arts teaching position.”

Teaching experience. Start with your current or most recent teaching experience and work your way back chronologically. If you’re a new teacher, your student teaching experience-as well as any substitute teaching experience-will make up this section.

Education. Again, list this in reverse chronological order, and make sure to include any continuing education or professional development you’ve participated in. If you’re a new teacher, put this section above teaching experience.

Certifications. You can’t teach if you aren’t certified, and employing someone who isn’t qualified is every administrator’s worst nightmare. Make it easy for them by putting your certifications and endorsements front and center. If it’s in the works, put the anticipated date of your endorsement.

Career-related awards. If you’ve been honored with a Golden Apple teaching award or some other education-centered award during your career, make sure you include it. Outside validation goes a long way with school districts.

Associations and memberships. List the professional organizations to which you belong. For new teachers especially, these associations demonstrate your seriousness about your career.

The following sections are potential add-ins, depending on your situation.

Profile. If you’re an established teacher, a profile section can help define who you are. Think about your qualities, experience, and skills. Example: “A very creative high school history teacher with 10 years of experience, I’m dedicated to eliciting high levels of classroom performance from every student.

Other work experience. This is only for new teachers or those with a large gap between teaching jobs. Try to play up the “educational” aspects of any job you list. For instance, if you were a docent at a local museum, emphasize how you taught large groups of people about ancient Egypt on a daily basis.

College honors. Again, this is primarily for new teachers, though if you were a Rhodes Scholar, you’re never too far removed from college to include that tidbit!

Special skills. Like every other employer today, schools are looking to maximize the usefulness of their teachers. If you’re fluent in a foreign language, for example, a small district with no current foreign language offerings may give your resume more weight because they can use that skill, as well as your primary teaching area.

Other Tips:

Incorporate buzz words. If possible-and if it’s true, of course-demonstrate your knowledge of and experience with some of the most popular trends in teaching. Things such as “team teaching” (or learning), “hands-on learning,” “whole language,” and “inclusion” are going to set off happy bells for potential employers.

Highlight your innovative spirit. Whatever your teaching experience-even if only as a student teacher-you’ve had to get creative in the classroom. Include a couple of examples of innovative techniques you’ve developed that are transferable to a new position.

Emphasize your willingness to be a team player. Teaching is often collaborative, so if you’re able to demonstrate how you’ve contributed your time and skills for the overall benefit of a school-not just your own students-your resume will outshine most others.

Almost all mobile phones now have access to a GPS system. However, many people do not activate the service. There should be a word of caution here. GPS locating systems are really for your own good and protection. Suppose you were on a hiking trip, you did have your cell phone with you, but the GPS system had never been activated; all of a sudden, you have an accident, and you need someone’s help. If you had have activated your GPS system, all you would have to do is call 911, tell them what happened and they could track your location through your GPS signal.

Once a GPS tracking system has been activated, you can type in your location and the location that you want to go, and the system will give you a trajectory of how far it is, and which is the best way to go. When there is more than one person in your hiking party, each person should have a mobile phone with an activated GPS tracking signal, just in case one of the party members accidentally gets lost. They can call for help or they can track the rest of the members of their own party, and vice versa.

GPS systems can also help you keep track of your children, no matter what age they are. You can even have a GPS system installed on your favorite pet‘s collar. Or you can have a GPS system installed in your children’s shoes, or on their clothing. So no matter where they wonder off to you can always find them.

Today many of the most beautiful places in the world can only be reached by hiking. Even going on horseback can sometimes come to an end as the terrain becomes too rough to continue on horseback. Plan your hike well. Take along at least two canteens full of water and a first aid kit. Also take along enough food for at least two hours longer than you plan to stay. A flash light and extra batteries, and just in case you do not smoke, some matches in case you need to light a fire. Also include at least a small knife. Take along a camera and some extra film to capture those special moments and show them to your friends. Enjoy your time hiking, but one thing that every hiker should always do is to “leave the area better than you found it” always clean up the area so that others can see the beauty that you saw.
