Here is Part 3 of ‘3 Ways To Improve Search Engine Rankings’ with follows on from Parts 1 and 2. The simple 3-Stage Approach I use to getting highly ranked in the search engines is something anyone can do. Here, in Part 3, is my third Stage…

Stage 3. Aim to make your website ‘The Most Popular In Your Class’:

Stage 3 of my simple 3-Stage approach to getting my websites highly ranked in the search engines, is crucial because it’s the element that contributes about 85% towards how high a website is ranked up the search results.

I refer to it as getting your website to be ‘the most popular in the class’. What do I mean by that? Well, think about being at school, and being popular with everyone else was more about being what they wanted you to be. If you were how they wanted you to be, and they liked you, then ultimately you were perceived as popular. Fickle I know. And the more people who thought you were great, the more popular you were with everyone in your class, and possibly your school.

Same goes for your website – the more other websites like you, the more popular your website is going to appear to the search engines, and thus the more popular you are perceived to be for the information the searcher is looking for.

So, million dollar question – how do you get popular with a bunch of other websites? Two things, and they are equally as important…

a) You need to get quality websites linking to your website. b) The websites that are linking to your website need to be as relevant as possible to the information on your website.

Let’s cover both of these…

One of the most effective things you can do to help your website get ranked is to get as many other quality websites linking back to yours, from links on their websites. Quite simply the more links pointing back to your website, the better.

But links alone are not enough – the links need to be on quality websites that in themselves carry good content, and the link is from a website that is relevant to what is on your website.

So, why is the amount of links, and they relevancy of the linking website important to search engines? They see it this way – the more links from quality websites pointing to your website, gives a strong indication that what’s on your website is all good stuff. They also look at the link itself and that if it’s on a website that is relevant to your website, the search engines effectively say to themselves the website with the link is offering what is like a strong referral again about the quality of what’s on your website…

…and the more websites giving you these ‘referrals’ (links), the more the search engines rate your site, and so the higher it appears on the search results.

Obviously getting these quality one-way links is the key, as they play a massive part in where your website ranks in the search results.

How do you get them?… That’s the tricky bit – the ‘scenic’ route is to write, call, bug and drive webmasters nuts, who have relevant sites to yours, to ask them to add your link on their website linking back to your site. Be prepared, that can be a long job, requiring a great deal of patience and resilience, as these webmasters are constantly getting asked for exactly that.

The other way is to use a specialist, who has demonstrated they know how to get these links, and they then focus on getting the links for you.

However you do it, getting these links is vital to getting high up the search results and enjoying all that ‘free traffic’ from organic search, as millions around the world type into the search services…

I’ve heard it said that the first real Snow fall of the Holiday season is supposed to be magical.I’ve also heard it said that it means Santa is taking the slay out for the test run! Sunday December 2nd was the first real Snow fall of the 2007 Holiday Season on Long Island. Now I’m not saying I always believe Everything I hear, but it was a Magical Day and I did see Santa.

He was at the Cycle Sisters MC and the Reach Committee from Quest Diagnostics “Breakfast with Santa” Toy Fundraiser. The event started at 9am at the Marine Corps Building in Massapequa with a Smorgasbord of Breakfast foods, Donated by IHOP of Massapequa and Dunkin Donuts of North Babylon and Deer Park.

The place was packed with Children both young and old enjoying the morning festivity’s with Mr. Santa Claus himself! The only cost to enter was one Toy donated to the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots”. There where many Elves on hand to help Santa out, most had pointy ears but there was one Standing Tall and Proud in Uniform.

This was a great event and all the Children where thrilled to be able to sit and enjoy Breakfast and tell old St’ Nick what they wanted this year for Christmas! As for me well I can not think of many ways I’d rather spend a morning then with a bunch of Donuts and my friends the Lady’s of the Cycle Sisters MC!

Ranging in price from $300 to $500 and up, mini laptops, also known as netbooks are flying off store shelves. A netbook can be a low-cost alternative to pricey desktop and full-sized laptops, or can it? Will the small screen and keyboard size impact negatively impact your employees productivity or even their health? The answer is, maybe. If your employees use a mini laptop for their primary computer for the majority of their workday you would be wise to offer a usb external keyboard and mouse, as well as an external monitor if possible.

Netbooks usually arrive pre-loaded with Windows XP Home or Linux, allowing you to do basic office functions on your netbook utilizing pre-installed office software such as Microsoft Office or the free Open Office Suite, available for both Windows and Linux based laptops.

You can even supplement your existing office software by downloading useful office software like GIMP (for photo editing), Scribus (for newsletter and other page design projects), KMyMoney (for double-entry accounting), and Glabels (for making labels).

If you are running a small office or a home-based business, you can easily connect your Windows XP netbook to your computer Windows computer network. If your computers are not yet connected, here are the steps to networking them:

1. Take note of each of your computers location and hardware. Find out where the LAN port is in each computer and map out where each computer is located relative to each other. This is very important in determining where you can hide network cables (if youre using a Local Area Network).

2. If you are sharing the internet connection through ICS: choose which computer will be your Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) host. The ICS host should be your most powerful computer (not necessarily your netbook). To make networking easier, ensure that your ICS host runs on Windows XP. The rest of your computers can run on the older Windows 98 or Windows ME.

3. Choose whether you want to network through Ethernet LAN or Wireless LAN. If you opt for Ethernet LAN you need to run cabling between the computers. To have sufficiently powerful internet connection between the computers, the network cables should not be more than 20 feet each.

4. Run the Network Setup Wizard on your ICS host computer. Just click on the Start Menu and click on Network and Internet Connection.

5. Run the Network Setup Wizard on the other computers. Make sure that they are connecting to the network created on the ICS host.

There are many advantages to networking your netbook with other computers in your office. The main advantage is that you can share printers and drives between computers. You also eliminate the need for transferring files through CDs or flash disk and minimize the risk of transferring viruses. You also get to save up on storage space since you can work on a shared file, yet store it only in one computer.

Although the latest models are definitely more powerful than the earlier models of netbooks, it is doubtful if a netbook is powerful enough to be the ICS host in a computer network.

Spyware is one thing a computer owner must deal with. Spyware is most concerned with stealing information about you but still it has the capacity to slow down your computer to the point you will be unable to use it. Viruses, on the other hand are out ruin your computer first and foremost. So as you can see, it is important protect your computer against both spyware and viruses.

In the most basic sense, virus cleaners and spyware cleaners are the same thing. So, if you have a good virus scanner or a good spyware cleaner installed on your computer, you don’t need to install the other kind of program to protect your computer against spyware and viruses. The fact of the matter is a virus protection program and a spyware protection program together on the same PC, don’t work out too well as this arrangement will slow down routine operations.

You do however, want to have a spyware scanner or a virus scanner installed on your computer that will protect it against the spyware and viruses we will discuss in this article. We will also, talk about the horrible things these parasites can do to your computer.

Spyware and Adware

Spyware and adware are similar in the fact they fact the are able to watch what you are doing on your own computer. Adware is more interested in getting information on you as a customer, so that the people who are using it will know how and what to sell to you. Spyware, in many cases, truly spies on you and can find out a lot of very sensitive information such as your social security number.

The word “malware”is a contraction of the words malicious and software. Some malware are viruses and others are types of spyware that are malicious. Some examples of malware are: trojans, keyloggers, browser hijackers, worms, phishing software, rootkits, and bots. You should be sure your spyware or virus remover is capable of getting rid of all of these.

Rootkits, trojans and worms are viruses because they are most concerned with destroying your computer. Keyloggers, browser hijackers, phishing software and bots are types of spyware and they try to get your most private information and if they ruin your computer while doing so, they are not at all concerned.

Many of these parasites work together. For instance, a rootkit will mask a worm so it will be able to enter into your computer at the root or administration level. Once there, a worm will enter into your most important start up files. This worm as worms do, will replicate itself over and over again and in time can end up rendering your computer inoperable.

What Spyware Leaves Behind

So, now we know we don’t need both spyware removers and antivirus programs installed on our computers. This leads us to believe we need a total one program to keep our computers running in tip top shape, but really there is one more piece of software we should have. When we remove spyware and/or viruses from our computers, we leave registry corruption in its wake. There are many other sources that create registry corruption, but this is one.

This means we should have a registry cleaner installed on our computer and we should run it after any kind of malware is cleaned from our hard drives because registry corruption makes a computer run like it does when malware is present. Namely it make your computer run slow and crash periodically as well as have frequent error messages.
