Charged with protecting and safeguarding the natural environment, it’s the EPA’s ratings that really matter when it comes to choosing the right hybrid vehicle to buy.

What It’s All About?

Wondering what EPA has to do with it? Most hybrids these days that are for sale to the general public have to have an EPA rating and it is this rating that will tell a consumer just how much fuel is saved when it comes to a hybrid’s mileage.

This, on the consumers end, is actually more advantageous since the consumer can translate these ratings to fuel efficiency and thus monetary savings. But more important than that, the EPA determines which cars are the most fuel-efficient, which ones have the least amount of carbon monoxide emissions, and therefore which ones are the fittest for the environment in general. Of course, this does not mean that gas-powered cars are not allowed on the road. Basically, the EPA ratings on hybrids help consumers make the right choice in car purchases.

EPA has been around for their rating systems for a long time now. In fact, at some point the ratings had to change with the introduction of hybrid cars. The EPA has mandatory fuel-economy tests that have to be carried out on all cars, old and new, sold in the United States.

The tests have been conducted on 15% of all cars. One of these tests is on fuel economy which involves city and highway cycles to see the result on what kind of usage cars have when it comes to fuel consumption. For the year 2008, these tests have changed in many ways and the EPA has revised testing methods because of the introduction of hybrid cars.

Ratings are usually calculted with the dynamometer. The results are shown on labels that are attached to the vehicles showing what fuel economy estimates there are per model. These ratings make it easier for the consumer to pick the most fuel-efficient hybrid car.

These days, it’s no big secret that hybrid cars are the most fuel-efficient and it’s one of the reasons why these cars are becoming more popular. But fuel efficiency is a different story with all the model cars that are coming out of the assembly line from various car manufacturers. Some of the most fuel efficient includes the Ford Focus with an EPA rating of 24 miles in the city/35 miles on the highway to the gallon, the Honda Fit with a rating of 33 miles in the city/38 miles on the highway, and the Honda Civic with 30 miles in the city/38 miles on the highway. And these ratings are more different if those cars are automatics.

It’s these easy ratings that help consumers make the right choice, helping them to pick cars that suit their lifestyles. It is exactly why the EPA conducts its tests and comes up with hybrid car ratings, which is fitting since more people are now making the switch to the hybrid car.

Before you think about how to start your own house cleaning business, consider why this could be a good move for you. There is money in it for a reason that will never change: very few people actually like to clean their houses. Most people enjoy a freshly cleaned house but they don’t care for the work.

As you have no doubt noticed, houses keep getting dirty, day in and day out. It just keeps happening and it always will. So no matter what the economy is like, no matter how hectic their lives are, people need to get their houses clean, at least now and then!

And here is your opportunity. Start your own housecleaning business, publicize it, do a good job, and over time you can building up a client list. Some may be weekly customers, and others will want you a bit less often. You can also set your own schedule of days and hours that you can work.

Now for some tips on how to get going:

1. Consider your cleaning supplies. You may have everything you need already. In any case, don’t spend much getting tools and equipment at this stage… save that for when your business is generating the income to improve your gear.

2. Find a few friends who are willing to let you clean their houses for free. Get written testimonials from them, and ask them if you can use their full names or if they would prefer that you just use their first names. This step has the obvious purpose of getting you some good material for your advertising, but it has an unexpected bonus: you will find out whether starting a home cleaning business is in fact right for you.

Because this point is important, I will expand on it a little. If you discover that you really dislike doing the work, then stop right there and go look for something else to do. You will only be successful at starting this business if you find satisfaction in the work. I am not saying you have to love it all, but overall being self-employed means you have to have a certain amount of energy to get going. That energy comes much more easily when you do work you like.

3. Using a word processing program, make and print out some flyers. If you can get some colored paper for them, they will stand out better. Things to put on the flyer include your name or business name, your phone and maybe your email, what if anything you specialize in cleaning, and those testimonials, or at least their best parts. Give your rates, and before you decide on them, find out what the going rates are locally. Post the flyers on bulletin boards and wherever else you think of.

4. Get a business license if you need one. This is usually quite straightforward, with a small fee. You may need a tax ID number too, in some communities.

5. People generally realize that they need to log income and expenses for eventual income tax purposes, but there is another good reason to get a notebook and write it all down. This will show you how much profit you are actually making.

Home Based Christian Business Success Principles Part 2

In this article we are going to expand more on stewardship and what the bible teaches about it. We as Christians are held accountable to the Lord for the stewardship of our Chrisitan Home Business. At times people get confused as to what stewardship is. This is basically how we handle the resources and provisions that the Lord has given us. We must handle these according to His will. This applies to all areas of our lives including your Christian Home Business.

We can learn a lot about stewardship for your Christian Home Business in the parable taught be Jesus in Luke 19:12-27. Refer to the bible for the entire parable, I will paraphrase this portion of scripture.

This portion of scripture speaks of a ruler or king who left his kingdom (business) to pursue other kingdoms for his domain. He left 10 different slaves to be stewards of his business while he was gone. After he left to pursue the other kingdom the slaves or servants were to manage his estate while he was gone. When he returned they were to give an account for how they managed the estate.

The first slave said, “Master, your mina has made 10 more.” The master said well done because you have been faithful in little I give you authority over 10 cities.” The second slave came before him and said, “Master, your mina has made 5 more.” The master said, well done because you have faithful in little I give you authority over 5 cities.”

The third person that was held accountable came to give his report. When asked what he did with the mina he was given he replied, “I hid it away so that I would not lose it.” He didn’t increase nor attempt to increase the mina. He didn’t even put it in the bank to gain interest he hid it. This is a poor steward, due to his poor stewardship the master took it from him and gave it to the one with 10. The moral is him who can manage little will receive more.

Wow! This is a tough truth. We as Christians in our home business are given stewardship over our business, over our time we put into it, over our mentoring to our team and every aspect of it. What can we take from this parable?

Not only are we held accountable for the income that is produced. We are even held accountable for the relationship with our team. The Lord holds us accountable for the things He provides us with. The reality is all things are on loan from the Lord and we are to be managers of those things. Increasing your spiritual and personal development is critical as you grow. Evaluating your gifts and how you are using them for the Lord is equally important.

We can see that the Lord has called us into business. He has given us the responsibility to increase what he has blessed us with. Understand, I am not talking about prosperity preaching rather I am talking about being blessed according to His will for your business. Based upon serving Him according to how He has called you.
